Chapter 7: Sword and Magistry Academy
'Follow us in the Academy. Are they hearing themselves?'
We will get absolutely detained if they find out these guys wearing all those clothes and tattoos, with scars are with me roaming around the premises.
However, if they insist on following me around, I guess making use of them can be beneficial.
"Excuse me, sir. What kind of job are you going to give us?"
Yana looked curiously in my direction, confused as to why these people were following his orders.
But she didn't need to know the details.
"I want you to find information regarding this 'South Traveler' and deliver it to the Vero Estate in Wellington Shop. If you met my father Reo there, tell him that you are with me,"
Vero Estate is where I lived with my family, and my father runs this shop with my mother who takes care of some things sometimes.
"South Traveler…"
Both Yana and the bandits muttered under their breath.
The former became even more confused while the latter was pretty determined, and seemed very eager to depart as being near me was demoralizing.
"We'll take our leave… however, we don't have the funds, sir,"
Switching my gaze back to them just as I was about to take another bite, I retorted.
"It's not my problem,"
I paused and added a reminder, "No previous work involvement, got it? If you got arrested because you did it again, I'll give you another lesson that'll be your last,"
Harry and the group nodded willingly as if their lives depended on it.
After cleaning the area they used, the bandits bid their farewell and escaped from my grasp to do their mission.
But do I trust them to do it?
I'm not very sure.
The spell I cast in their chest was just a tier-one spell and once they were out of my range, they could completely do whatever they wanted yet again.
But I can just let them go.
Even though they are bandits, the only thing they plunder from people is their wealth.
They aren't the kind of people who kill just for the sake of completing their theft.
After all, that was the spell I conjured, Kill Count, which is a tier-one spell that will be affected if those people had murdered even a single person.
'Still, a tier-one spell of the first circle? I've been nerfed too much. Ah yes, nerfed. I liked that word.'
Contemplating that I'd learned too much wording from the light novels I read, my sister and I continued our journey toward the Academy.
…
"Halt!"
Being stopped by one of the guards at the Academy gates after half an hour of being in a line, their gaze shifted to our carriage before falling to us.
"Identification and registration please,"
Yana handed over the requirements for our entry.
These items have already been prepared by Reo and Freia which are the basic requirements to enter.
Once they managed to see our enrollee registration for the Academy and identifications that have our backgrounds, the guard smiled.
"Welcome to the Magistry and Sorcery Academy, kids. Since you're enrolling, please proceed to the main gate. You're just right on time. I've heard the trials will be coming shortly,"
Bidding farewell to the guards who warmly welcomed us, it was time to put back our attention to the Academy.
The Sword and Magistry Academy is located at the borders between the Dimity Kingdom, and the neighboring country, The Empire.
Our family which is under the Dimity Kingdom and its estate is just nearer to the Academy compared to the other countries.
All one had to do was cross a few estates and cities and reach the Academy which is kind of a kingdom itself.
And The Empire… that place has been my past kingdom.
By the looks of it, they are still going strong.
However, all these judgments of mine are just barely scratching anything since I had zero status of which is which.
Like the Academy.
That's right.
This place only existed after my death.
If there were ever an Academy, each kingdom host it for themselves and not a place where every student from different countries could just enroll and learn from its teachers.
It was said to be a place for 'co-existence' which will be just a load of crap since the most powerful people here will rise and gain the fame they deserve while the extras fell.
And the latter might befall me and my sister.
"I can sense powerful individuals here… Especially the nobility from the other kingdoms."
Powerful individuals, huh?
They are too inferior for me.
It could've been the case for my adorable sister but nothing in this place will interest me.
That's what I thought to myself before glancing at one particular spot in the main gate as we moved towards it.
At the corner of my eyes, there was a male individual around my age patiently waiting to open up the main gates.
He was carrying a bag behind him with a sheath strapped around his waist.
He had a posture that was befitting to a knight.
Nobody could've noticed it but I can feel something strange within him.
His mana was… unstable.
'Interesting… the cases I could think of such chaotic mana is that it was too much for the person to handle it right at the moment, meaning it exceeded his storage or tank could intake. The other thing to consider is that his mana has been poisoned which explains the chaotic fluctuations.'
Averting my gaze to this individual since his abnormal condition is what piqued my interest, I put my gaze at the incoming individual who exited from the door of the main gate.
He then introduced.
"A very buzzling day to all of you. My name is Instructor Ezreal and I will be the one handling today's examination,"
Instructor Ezreal who seemed satisfied with the background he had given, continued while pointing the gate.
"The gate behind me contains the trials that each of you will tackle which will be based on two categories,"
Ezreal raised two fingers.
"Either you are good on weapon or mana. That's just it. If you know what you're adept at, the best way to pass the enrollment trials is to be sure what to choose. Remember though, there will be no second tries. If you fail, better luck next admission I guess?"
Chatter—!
Everyone seemed excited to enter and be admitted to the Academy which showed in their heartfelt reaction.
Even my sister was eager as she got down from the carriage and waved me goodbye.
"Please park it for me, brother! You can do it, right?"
"Yeah,"
As for me, this didn't bring me excitement.
It was utterly boring and disappointing
