Reincarnated Supreme Arcane Emperor's Machinations

Chapter 6: Good Providers

'The South Traveler...'

Yep, not a clue.

No matter how much I think about it, this name hasn't existed in the past nor I've heard about it in today's time until I came from the shop.

'Ken seemed to have bought it but did not know the seller of the pendant...'

Sinister energy which is different from the unholy, evil, and forbidden magic I've encountered in the past.

"This will be troublesome..."

While peacefully riding my carriage, a yawn erupted inside the carriage and voiced out.

"What troublesome, brother?"

I answered briefly.

"Nothing. Go back to sleep. We'll reach the Academy by tomorrow. Just rest,"

Yana seemed to happily go down to sleep as I could hear her snore from my seat.

We've crossed countless estates and cities within the Empire, exchanged the rotation of who will be driving, and passed through the roads quietly.

Back in my time, there would be assassins sent out to kill me every time I walked through the streets.

But since I'm just a lowly nobody, I didn't get such treatment.

Not that it would matter anyway.

As I was thinking about it, a group of suspicious people sprung out from dark trees carrying sharp weapons.

'Are you serious?'

I was just thinking about not having some assassins stopping my way... and it happened as if it was some sort of 'karma'

'Karma, yes... I remember these things in the novel I've read,'

Soon, these suspicious people approached and surrounded our carriage.

I believe they are bandits.

While they did, I put a soundproof magic around the carriage to keep my sister away from the noise that was about to happen.

"Hey, you little kid,"

The one buffed guy with an eye patch to his left eye demanded.

"Hand over this vehicle, your weapon, and money to us and we'll let you live,"

I sighed helplessly.

"Can we just pass?"

Let us pass so you can live for another day is what I'm trying to make them understand.

But I guess my tone and words aren't enough to reach their hearts and small brains.

"No, but we can take it forcibly to you,"

I smirked.

"Okay,"

I've been tired just sitting around the carriage most of the time hence a bit of exercise should not be bad.

Let's say this is the start of my physical training.

Massaging my knuckles, I went down to the carriage and approached the bandits.

...

Yana has been asleep most of the journey.

His brother handled all the tedious jobs most of the time.

"..."

But she couldn't believe it when she found Cillian right beside her sleeping.

She widened her eyes, thinking that something had gone wrong.

However, the moment she looked outside, particularly at the driver's seat, Yana saw another person driving their carriage.

She hastily arranged herself and went to the driver's seat.

"Ahhhhhh!"

"Ahhhhhh!"

Upon seeing each other, both Yana and the eye patch bandit screamed as if they had seen the reaper taking their lives.

"Who are you?!"

The right eye of the bandit that isn't covered with an eye patch glanced inside the carriage.

Fear took over him as his face turned disheartened.

He touched his chest that has a strange 'circle' inside and couldn't help but shiver.

Anything aside from their faces is in good condition. Cillian made it sure that way so that it wouldn't appear they got almost beaten up to death.

He then answered Yana with a distressed smile. "Hi, ma'am. My name is Harry. I've... been forcibly hired by your brother Cillian. F-fret not, we're doing this free of charge!"

Yana frowned, "Who's we?"

Harry looked to the side and saw his men come back from the hunt in their forest.

They brought a pig, a deer, and fruits.

The carriage stopped and Harry began to work with his men for the sibling's breakfast.

Something that only Cillian has been doing was being done with others.

They are a very good provider.

'What's happening?'

Yana immediately went back inside and wanted to try waking up Cillian.

However, she stopped with that line of thought after he saw him having a good sleep.

"Hahh…"

Yana left him alone and stepped out of the carriage to ask these mysterious providers who had been with them yesterday.

Yana tapped Harry's arm innocently as she asked.

"Uhm, excuse me, Harry. Where did you guys come from?"

But those light taps sent excruciating pain that coursed through his body.

"Uh!"

Stepping back while appearing drenched throughout his body, Harry remembered Cillian's cold words for him and his men.

-If Yana were to know you're bandits, the magic I've cast on you will explode. Don't even try to put my sister in danger since that explosion will solely be directed at you alone.

Remembering the words of the devil, Harry replied.

"We've come through the nearby city and we're badly in need of transportation. We saw your brother willingly 'accepted' us. After being taught a 'lesson', we couldn't help but be grateful for his generosity and do this voluntary work,"

Yana suspiciously cast a glance at Harry and his men who kept nodding and having the reactions that speak "Please believe us or else...!"

Yana then asked, "So, we're not paying you?"

Harry immediately answered, "Of course! This is a volunteer! Volunteer you hear me!"

'He's shouting but it seemed to be directed to someone else...'

Yana paused.

'But if we're not going to waste money on their generosity, maybe it's all right to have some company,'

After being handled with good meat from one of the providers while the other prepared her drink, Yana couldn't help but chuckle at this situation.

'I looked like I've become a princess.'

While almost eating her fill, Yana asked.

"That tall building there, it's the Sword and Magistry Academy, isn't it? That's our destination for me and my brother. Where will you guys go after this?"

Harry and his men looked at each other and shivered.

They have no idea where to come next.

They are afraid that whatever Cillian had cast inside of their battered body will only activate if they leave him.

For that reason, they have no other choice but to stick around.

"W-we have a lot of free time so I guess we can follow you?"

Crackle—!

"What do you mean you'll follow us?"

Suddenly, the voice of the devil came from the carriage and slowly woke up.

He went down outside and approached the makeshift table that the bandits had prepared and verbalized solemnly

"If you have nothing to do, I got a job for you,"
