Chapter 9: Arrogant Young Masters
"Congratulations on being admitted to the Sword and Magistry Academy. The class will start in two weeks, and there's already an available room for you to use. Since the third year has recently graduated, we have so much space. You can choose any room however you like and come to me. But of course, if you want to say goodbye to your family again, be sure to come before the start of classes,"
The receptionist who handled our registration form was very well-spoken and gave us any reminders that could be given.
"Thanks,"
"Yes, see you soon, student Cesar and Yana,"
My sister tried to hide it but all her excitement was plastered around her face.
She just had this stupid smug around her lips and radiating eyes that could infect others with her whole demeanor alone.
Since we clearly had no business left here, our decision to leave the Academy hastened until Yana suggested otherwise.
"Cillian, want to explore our future academy? You know, see if it's really state-in-the-art school like what everyone is saying."
No one could resist those eyes that looked like a puppy wagging her tail to its owner.
Besides, we thought that the enrollee admission would take a long but we just finished them the day the trial even started.
We have a lot of time to spare on our hands.
Calculating the amount of money that our parents had given us inside my head, I nodded once and mused.
'As long as we didn't spend a single penny inside here, we'll still have available left to buy food on our way back,'
Looking at Yana who was very eager to start roaming around the Academy, I smiled and stated.
"Let's get going,"
We began exploring the Academy.
…
There are also other students, newly admitted like us, who chose to explore the renowned Academy for themselves.
And for some weird reason, I was receiving curious and wary gazes from both the newly enrollees and the current second-year students.
They must be aware of me now since I was the first to finish the trial on my side.
However, those gazes don't faze me even for a bit.
I've been under that pressure from my past life, and it didn't even made me break a sweat.
Yana didn't seem to notice that she was also being assessed by the students and continued marveling at the facilities that we will be using in the future.
I know these people will not just leave us alone and it started to show.
Just after we exited out from the biggest gymnasium that the Academy has to offer, we got stopped by a group of students wearing the uniform of the school.
And the green-haired individual seemed to be their leader as he approached me with his arrogant demeanor.
"Hello, Cillian Wellington. A Wellington from any of the Kingdom's names doesn't ring any bell for me so it must mean you're a commoner,"
Huh, this is new to me.
Being looked down upon that is.
Judging by his tone alone, I can confidently conclude this man is a noble. With his lackeys on his side standing like lapdogs, this guy probably holds a high position.
Looking at him with uninterested eyes, I asked with a yawn.
"I guess I'm a commoner. You are?"
The man smiled widely as he introduced himself.
"Everyone calls me Norman, son of Duke Vincent Balian from the Castro Kingdom,"
The lackeys behind proudly presented the green-haired man Norman to me as if he was some kind of trophy we would never get in touch again if he didn't approach us.
"I see…"
A duke, that's why he's confident.
I can make that name, estate, and people disappear in an instant when I was the Emperor of the Empire.
Those eyes that were looking down upon me at this moment will also vanish and will just return back to normal as if nothing happened.
'How boring…'
As if Norman began to notice my uninterested demeanor which is something he can be proud of since he was not that brainless, it started to tick him off as his voice started to grumble.
"Cillian the Commoner, you should really clap your hands and prostate yourself if you are seeing a Duke's son. Who knows if it will be the last thing you'll ever see,"
Yana who thought that Norman had come here with good intentions started to be guarded once the duke's son uttered those words out from his mouth.
As for me, I was already expecting something like this to happen.
They are like spoiled young masters.
Yes, they are indeed.
Just do something to rub their inflated ego a bit and their whole face will show.
And I wasn't even doing it now, just merely uninterested in our conversation.
"I see… if that's what you want…"
If there's a way to avoid the trouble, I'll willingly do it.
Clasping my hands together, I wanted to appear impressed but my voice appears to be sarcastic.
"Wow, very good. Yep, it's nice. I'm actually flattered by being showered by the presence of a duke's son. Uhh… Vincent Balam, right? Nice."
Even though I really tried to get along with Norman, the faces that they started making made me think so otherwise.
"You…"
Norman started to speak solemnly.
"A commoner like you has no chance to rise in this academy without a backer such as me, even if you're a genius. You lowly piece of filth that should belonged to the streets should even be glad to have yourself admitted here. You know what I'm saying, trash?"
Oh, I do get it Norman.
You just made me realize instantly how rotten the Academy is and bugs like you are living in it to leech off its benefits that only the influential could wield, and not aspiring lowly humans like Yana.
Man, I don't even want to explain anything to him since there's no need for it.
"Hey dog,"
We can only settle this in one conventional way.
"Wanna fight me?"
