Chapter 64: War - 3
As the sphere's size expanded further, a new tribulation began to take shape, its enormity casting an ominous shadow over the battlefield. This one was far more menacing than the previous, its sheer presence making even Kang Jun's seasoned composure falter.
The oppressive aura radiating from it sent chills down his spine, a clear indication of its overwhelming power. To make matters worse, Kang Jun's sharp senses detected an influx of Gu Immortals rapidly approaching the area—over fifty in total, with at least ten of them emanating the unmistakable pressure of Rank 8 Immortals.
"Those must be from the Heavenly Court," Kang Jun muttered under his breath. His expression darkened as he realized the implications. "To think they would awaken the Immortals from the Graveyard... This is going to be troublesome. I'll need to call Chan Mu. His massive soul can handle all these tribulations at once."
Just as he prepared to act, Li Tian's calm, commanding voice echoed in his mind, cutting through his thoughts. "Don't call Chan Mu. He's our trump card, and we can't afford to use him yet. Handle this without revealing our full hand."
Kang Jun clenched his fists, his jaw tightening as he scanned the horizon where the Heavenly Court Immortals began to emerge, their silhouettes glowing with the light of their power. "Understood," he replied quietly, determination replacing hesitation. "Then I'll face them my way."
Lan Mu, on the other hand, didn't accompany Kang Jun as he was focused on supplying immortal essence to Li Tian. Since Li Tian was not an Immortal, he couldn't refine an Immortal Gu using primeval essence alone, relying instead on Lan Mu's constant support.
Kang Jun advanced toward the approaching Immortals, his presence concealed by an aura of invisibility. Without hesitation, he teleported into the midst of the group, his movements so swift that they barely registered his arrival. Raising his hand to his chest, he activated his killer move: Immortal Killer Domain Expansion: Infinite Sword Space.
The Immortals barely had a moment to react. As they attempted to teleport away, their slower movement speed proved their undoing. Kang Jun's killer move activated instantly, drawing them into the domain with an irresistible pull. They were helplessly trapped within the Infinite Sword Space.
Inside, the domain was an empty void, save for the countless rays of sword energy flashing through the air. At first, the sword rays moved in random intervals, but their speed began to increase incrementally, gaining 1m/s every minute, turning the void into a deadly storm of blades.
"Hehe, everything is going just as the Tower Lord planned," One of the heavenly Court Rank 8 immortals muttered, his voice calm yet filled with confidence.
One of the trapped Immortals, seething with rage, shouted, "How dare these unknown people dare to use lives to refine a Gu? Such demonic acts cannot be allowed to continue! They need to die!" His voice reverberated through the domain, but his protests were drowned out by the relentless hum of sword energy growing ever faster and more lethal.
Next, one of the Heavenly Court Gu Immortals, a Rank 8 Dark Path specialist named Xuan Hei, stepped forward amidst the chaos. With a commanding tone, he addressed his comrades, "The Tower Lord foresaw this domain. Its strength lies in the exponential acceleration of the sword energy and the spatial isolation it imposes. However, it is not unbreakable. Listen carefully."
Xuan Hei pointed toward the swirling void, his gaze sharp. "The key is to disrupt the balance of the domain by overloading its spatial core. The Infinite Sword Space relies on maintaining a stable energy flow to sustain its accelerating sword rays. By introducing an energy burst synchronized with the domain's frequency, we can destabilize it. The Tower Lord provided us with a method. Use your elemental Gu to generate opposing currents of spatial and temporal energy."
He gestured to two nearby Rank 7 Immortals. "You, combine your Time Path and Space Path killer moves to create an oscillation that counters the domain's acceleration. The rest of us will focus our attacks on the core to overload its capacity."
The Immortals quickly mobilized, their Gu worms glowing as they activated their respective paths. Xuan Hei himself unleashed a Dark Path killer move, Shadow Collapse, which absorbed the surrounding energy and funneled it into a concentrated blast aimed at the domain's core. The combined efforts began to strain the domain, the sword rays flickering as the spatial structure wavered.
However, the domain was merciless. As the sword rays accelerated further, they became an unrelenting storm of death. Twenty of the Rank 7 Immortals, unable to defend themselves, were sliced apart. Their screams echoed within the void as their bodies were torn to shreds, their blood evaporating into nothingness. The surviving Immortals pressed on, their determination unbroken despite the horrific casualties.
"Now, focus everything on the weakened points!" Xuan Hei commanded. The Immortals released their coordinated attacks, overwhelming the domain's core with a surge of destabilizing energy. Cracks formed in the void, and with one final burst, the Infinite Sword Space shattered, releasing the remaining Immortals into the open battlefield.
