Reverend Insanity: The Gacha System

Chapter 65: War - 4

They saw Kang Jun coughing up blood, his body battered but his eyes still sharp with determination. Without hesitation, the remaining twenty opponents surged toward him, intent on eliminating the lone fighter who had wreaked such havoc. Among them was one Rank 8 Immortal, his aura heavy and oppressive, leading the charge, followed by nineteen Rank 7 Immortals whose formations shifted in unison like a well-practiced unit.

Kang Jun gritted his teeth and steadied himself, summoning the strength to counter their assault. The Rank 8 Immortal, wielding a Lightning Path specialization, activated the killer move Judgement Spear, formed using Thunder Rumble Gu and Sky Pulse Gu. A massive bolt of lightning shaped into a spear descended from the heavens, its searing heat aimed directly at Kang Jun.

Kang Jun sidestepped just in time, using his Space Path killer move Dimensional Drift—crafted from Warp Core Gu and Phase Step Gu—to reposition himself a few meters away, evading the strike effortlessly.

The Rank 7 Immortals coordinated their moves, combining elements of Fire Path and Water Path. Streams of fire and cascading torrents of water twisted together, forming a deadly spiral killer move called Infernal Flood. Using Blazing Stream Gu and Tidal Crest Gu, they directed the devastating attack at Kang Jun.

Undeterred, Kang Jun raised his hand and activated Void Break Barrier, a defensive killer move utilizing Dimensional Gu and Ethereal Shell Gu. A shimmering shield enveloped him, dispersing the combined assault into harmless vapor.

He unleashed Spatial Rend Claws, his hands glowing faintly as they tore through the air. With a swipe, three Rank 7 Immortals were struck, their defensive Gu unable to withstand the spatial distortion. They fell to the ground, their bodies mangled and lifeless. Their souls were went to Li Tian.

The Rank 8 Immortal narrowed his eyes and stepped forward, activating a new killer move, Thunder Wrath Cage. Electrified bars of energy erupted from the ground, surrounding Kang Jun in a cage designed to trap and incinerate him.

Kang Jun smirked, knowing this was a critical moment. Using Spectral movement, a space Path killer move, he phased through the cage, appearing behind the Rank 8 Immortal.

Kang Jun used his Void Blade Slash and striked at the Rank 8 Immortal reacted swiftly, raising a defensive killer move, Storm Barrier Shield, but Kang Jun's blade sliced through, leaving a deep wound across his chest. The Immortal staggered, his defenses faltering.

The remaining Rank 7 Immortals encircled Kang Jun, attempting to overwhelm him with sheer numbers. Each unleashed their Path-specialized killer moves, creating a storm of elemental chaos. Fire, water, and metal clashed around Kang Jun as he dodged and deflected with unyielding focus. Activating Infinite Sword Horizon, Kang Jun created spectral swords that hovered around him and launched them toward the Immortals. The weapons pierced through their defenses, claiming five more lives.

Blood soaked the battlefield, the once-coordinated group now fragmented and desperate. Kang Jun stood amidst the carnage, his breathing labored but his resolve unwavering. The Rank 8 Immortal clutched his wound, fury in his eyes. "You won't escape Heavenly Court's wrath!"

As he spoke, his body was cleaved in half by Kang Jun's Void Blade Slash. The Rank 8 Immortal's expression froze in disbelief as he felt the sharp sting of spatial energy severing his core. However, just as his physical form was destroyed, a far more sinister phenomenon began to unfold.

Slowly, his mind fractured under the weight of his decaying existence, his soul fading into the abyss, where it was swiftly absorbed by Li Tian's far-reaching influence.

Seeing the soul of the Heavenly Court's Gu Immortal go away, Kang Jun sighed in relief but then his senses started to deteriorate rapidly. First, his hearing faded, leaving him in an eerie silence as the clash of battle disappeared. Frantically, he looked around, but his vision began to blur, the vibrant battlefield reduced to indistinct smudges of light and shadow. Desperation clawed at him as he reached out, only to find that his sense of touch had vanished; the cold, hard reality of his situation struck him like a tidal wave.

In the void of sensation, only his sense of smell remained—a cruel reminder of the blood-soaked air lingering around him. Each shallow breath carried the metallic tang of death, mingled with the faint scent of singed earth.

Just then, something struck Kang Jun—a force he couldn't see, hear, or feel due to his senses having been obliterated. Only his sense of smell lingered, faint and cruel, carrying the acrid scent of something burning. Realization dawned upon him. His mind pieced together the situation with startling clarity: he was going to be captured. Summoning what remained of his strength, he sent a mental message to Li Tian. "I have lost all my senses. I'm about to self-destruct. This is my final move."

Li Tian's response was immediate, calm. "Do it, and return. Quickly."

Resolute, Kang Jun tapped into the depths of his remaining power. Positioned fifty kilometers from Li Tian, he activated every killer move he had in a devastating cascade. Space itself buckled as cracks appeared in the fabric of reality, expanding outward like a spreading web.

The fractures shimmered for a moment before shattering into countless glass-like fragments. The resulting explosion consumed everything within a 25-kilometer radius. The area dissolved into absolute void, an empty expanse devoid of life, matter, or even remnants of energy. Only an eerie silence remained.

From the void, Kang Jun's dao marks and soul returned to Li Tian's aperture, bringing with them the final memories of his subordinate.

Through these memories, Li Tian glimpsed the image of a Rank 8 Heavenly Court Gu Immortal who had used a terrifying killer move to disrupt Kang Jun's senses. Yet, the Gu Immortal was no longer present, vanishing as though swallowed by the void itself.

Li Tian narrowed his eyes, his voice low and filled with cold calculation. "So, the Heavenly Court's Tower Lord decided to act personally. Hmph, who would have thought he would fall so pathetically. Still, I shouldn't underestimate them. Perhaps it maybe just a clone meant to deceive me."
