RWBY: Oscar the gamer

Chapter 17: Upper Team

The team was still reeling from the unexpected intensity of the situation as Coco's playful yet authoritative behavior settled into something far more serious. They were caught off guard when Crimson walked in, his usual stoic demeanor unchanging as he approached the group.

Ruby, a little flustered, shot a quick glance at Yang, who just shrugged, clearly amused by the whole scenario. Weiss, still adjusting to Coco's brashness, was still trying to recover from the unexpected push-up incident. She shot Coco a glare but remained silent, clearly uncomfortable with the situation.

Oscar, on the other hand, found himself caught up in Crimson's sharp eyes. The way Crimson had picked him so effortlessly made Oscar feel a little self-conscious, though he couldn't quite place why. The "prod" comment also stuck with him, and he couldn't help but wonder if Crimson already knew more about him than he realized.

Crimson's voice broke through his thoughts, and with a firm hand on Oscar's shoulder, he nodded toward the door. "Let's get to it, kid. I'm curious to see what you're made of."

As Oscar followed Crimson out of the cafeteria, he heard Ruby's voice from behind him, trying to comfort the others. "It's okay, guys. I mean, we've been through worse, right?"

Coco, standing near Ruby, smirked. "We'll see how 'okay' things are after a day with me."

Meanwhile, the others found themselves paired with the members of Team CFVY.

Ruby was struggling to keep up with Coco's pace. Coco, ever the ball of energy, seemed to thrive in the physical training they were doing. Despite Ruby's best efforts, she couldn't quite match Coco's strength and precision, but the older girl was patient—at least for now.

"Come on, Ruby! You can do better than that!" Coco called out as Ruby struggled to keep up with her drills.

Ruby wiped her brow, laughing nervously. "I'm trying, Coco! This is just... a lot!"

Coco chuckled. "Yeah, I get that a lot. But you'll thank me later when you're stronger. Trust me, I know what I'm doing."

Yang and Yatsuhashi

Yang, ever the competitor, was already throwing punches in the training room with Yatsuhashi. The man was massive, towering over her by at least a foot, but Yang didn't back down, landing a few solid hits despite the size difference.

Yatsuhashi grinned, his voice calm and deep. "Nice form, Yang. But you need to control your energy more."

Yang scoffed, wiping a bead of sweat from her forehead. "Don't worry, I can handle myself. Just don't go too easy on me."

"Don't worry, I won't," Yatsuhashi responded with a grin, clearly enjoying the challenge.

Weiss and Fox

Weiss was a little more reluctant to join Fox in training. She wasn't sure if she could handle his quiet intensity, or his apparent lack of patience for excuses.

Fox, noticing Weiss's hesitation, spoke up in a low voice, his sightless white eyes never leaving her. "Don't hold back. I'll know if you're not giving it your all."

Weiss, surprised by the bluntness of his tone, squared her shoulders and nodded. "Fine, I'll keep up."

Fox gave a slight nod in response, and the two began sparring, though Weiss noticed his fighting style was more calculated and precise than the chaos she was used to.

Blake and Velvet

Blake found herself training with Velvet, the Faunus girl whose ears twitched at every sound. It was hard not to notice the way her rabbit ears flicked, seemingly attuned to everything around them.

Velvet, ever the calm and collected type, demonstrated a more defensive fighting style, using agility and precise movements rather than raw power. She showed Blake how to better anticipate and avoid attacks, and Blake found herself admiring the way Velvet moved, her every step measured and fluid.

"You've got the basics down," Velvet said, adjusting her glasses with a smile. "But let's work on your timing and positioning."

Blake nodded, grateful for Velvet's guidance. "Thanks, Velvet. I think I'll learn a lot from you."

I am gonna go to more detail with individual character.

The training was over but not that main purpose, Crimson looked at Oscar they were not in the training room but just a room

Crimson whss meet Oscar. "Tell me, what do you wanna do or wanna be".

Oscar looked at him, as he speak. "Become a Hunt's ment".

Crimson eyes narrows, as he spoke. "Really, follow me".

As he did, they arrived in a shootings range, as then Oscar saw a pocket demention or portal like thing open as Crimson pulled out a gun as he fired at the target.

Crimson stppped and looked at Oscar. "What do you wanna be, your a Prodigy, your a 14 year old give a recommendation to Beacon academy, that is rare even more rare then normal, you seemed train asn you say you wanna just be a hunter".

Oscar just looked at him as he spoke. "Will um you see"

Crimson shot another bullet as he spoke. "You think your the odd man out in your team, a Team 5 when hunter team is only 4, not only that but you seemed stress and you don't know what to do correct".

Oscar felt a lump in his throat as Crimson's sharp words pierced through his thoughts. He looked down, trying to gather his composure, but the way Crimson carried himself—calm yet commanding—made it impossible to hide anything.

"I…" Oscar hesitated, his voice barely above a whisper. "I guess you're right. I do feel like I don't belong sometimes. Everyone else has these big weapons, flashy moves, and a lot of confidence. Me? I'm just… here."

Crimson stared at him for a moment before pulling the trigger again. The bullet struck dead center on the target, the sound echoing in the room.

"You're not just here," Crimson said, holstering the gun and turning to face Oscar. "You're part of a team. That means you have a role to play, whether it's flashy or not. But let me ask you again—what do you want to be? Not what your team needs, not what others expect—what you want."

Oscar swallowed hard, his fingers gripping the edge of his jacket. He looked up at Crimson, meeting his piercing gaze. "I don't know," he admitted, his voice tinged with frustration. "I want to be useful. I want to protect people, but sometimes it feels like I'm not good enough. Like I'm just a kid trying to keep up with everyone else."

Crimson nodded, his expression softening just slightly. "You're young, sure. But you've got potential. You've already made it to Beacon, which means you've got something special—even if you don't see it yet." He walked closer to Oscar, his tone steady. "You think being a Hunter is just about swinging a weapon or shooting a gun? It's about knowing who you are and what you stand for. The rest comes with time and experience."

Oscar looked at the target, then back at Crimson. "But what if I mess up? What if I let everyone down?"

Crimson let out a small chuckle. "You will mess up. That's part of the job. But it's what you do after that matters. Hunters aren't perfect—we're just people trying to do the best we can. And you're already ahead of most because you care."

Oscar's eyes widened slightly at the words. He hadn't thought of it that way before.

Crimson leaned down slightly, placing a firm hand on Oscar's shoulder. "Stop worrying about being the odd one out or not living up to expectations. Focus on finding your strength and owning it. You've got time to figure it out, but don't waste it doubting yourself."

Oscar nodded, a faint smile breaking through his uncertainty. "Thanks, Crimson. I think I needed to hear that."

Crimson stepped back, crossing his arms. "Good. Now, let's work on that aim of yours. If you're going to protect people, you'd better start hitting the target."

Oscar chuckled nervously, picking up a nearby practice weapon. As he lined up his shot, he felt a small spark of confidence igniting within him. Crimson's words echoed in his mind: Find your strength and own it.

Meanwhile in a different place was Ruby and Coco, they were in the room of Team CFVY, as she was using Fashion to show Ruby's way to use Leadership, Coco dry sense of humour and personality has some jokes go between the both of them.

Coco then looked at Ruby as she spoke. "What is your approach to leadership".

Ruby then looked at her as she spoke. "I didn't give much thoughts to it, I don't want to be missing body pants, I rather have my team have fun and be the friends when not on mission"

Coco puts a hat on she head as she spoke. "While yes, that is a good thing having fun and being a nice person and kind heart goof, but being the leader is a round the lock duty and your constantly wearing the team leader outfit".

Ruby move he head, removing her head as he looked at Coco as her outfit has changed, as Coco continue. "So your outfit needs to match what you are doing".

Ruby looked at Coco, her silver eyes blinking in confusion as the fashion metaphor flew over her head. "Uh… outfit? What do you mean by that?"

Coco smirked, her trademark sunglasses sliding down her nose as she struck a pose. "I mean the way you present yourself as a leader, Red. It's like picking the right outfit for the occasion. You don't show up to a battlefield in a ballgown, do you?"

Ruby chuckled nervously, scratching the back of her head. "No, but… I thought leadership was more about teamwork and strategy."

Coco nodded, her smirk softening into a genuine smile. "You're not wrong. But how you carry yourself matters just as much. Your team looks up to you. They'll mirror your energy, your confidence—or lack of it. If you're walking around looking like you don't know what you're doing, they'll feel it."

Ruby frowned, thinking about her team. "But I don't always know what I'm doing. What if I mess up? What if I make the wrong call and someone gets hurt?"

Coco sighed, stepping closer and placing a hand on Ruby's shoulder. "Kid, let me tell you something about leadership. It's not about always having the right answers. It's about being the person your team can trust, no matter what. Even if you're scared or unsure, you can't let that show. You gotta put on the right 'outfit'—the one that says, 'I've got this.' Even if you're faking it."

Ruby's eyes widened slightly. "So… fake it till you make it?"

"Something like that," Coco said with a wink. "But more importantly, you need to balance things. You've got the kindness and the fun down—that's good. But you also need to know when to step up and make the hard calls. Leadership isn't just one 'outfit'; it's a whole wardrobe. And you've gotta learn to change it depending on what the situation needs."

Ruby looked down, her mind swirling with thoughts. She remembered moments when she'd hesitated, when she'd doubted herself. But she also thought about the times her team had looked to her, trusting her to lead.

Coco's voice broke through her thoughts. "You've got potential, Red. You wouldn't be here if you didn't. But being a leader isn't just about the fun stuff. It's about being someone your team can rely on—even when things get tough. Think you can handle that?"

Ruby looked up, determination flickering in her eyes. "I… I think so. I mean, I'll try my best."

Coco grinned, ruffling Ruby's hair. "That's the spirit. Now, let's see if we can find you an 'outfit' that screams confidence. And maybe something with a little style, too."

Ruby laughed, feeling a bit lighter. "I'm not sure I'm ready for a fashion makeover, but I'll give the leadership thing a shot."

"Good," Coco said, stepping back. "Because trust me, Red, you're gonna need it. And don't forget—confidence is your best accessory."

Ruby nodded, her heart swelling with a newfound resolve. "Thanks, Coco. I'll do my best to lead my team the way they need me to."

Coco smirked, tipping her hat. "That's what I like to hear. Now, let's get back to the others before Yatsuhashi starts giving Yang combat tips that involve lifting entire trees."

Ruby then looked at Coco. "But what if um, can't do what I am mess, my team is kinda a mess".

Coco then looked at her as she spoke. "Here let me tell you about a team that was mess, and no it is not my team". Ruby looked at Coco as she looked at as she continued. "The team was random, two boys and two girls, and it was mess two of the teammates knew about eachother full, were like best friends the other two heated eachother for what happens, they fought a lot, now this team never blew up a lap before, but I saw how they acted, but that was not the only problem, the leader and his partner had sexual tension, meanwhile the other two had romantic tension, and the leader try to run the team in a military way, to the point it became a problem, the leader released he was not a good leader".

Ruby looked at her as she spoke. "So what happened".

Coco then continued as she looked at the red head. "Will red, the leader chose one of this teammate to be vice leader to him, they started to get better but oh boy they got in so many trouble with that mission, as it felt like they some type do Main Character, after awhile the leader and his partner fell on love and so did the other two, and the leader became better".

Ruby then looked at her. "I don't think there is anyone in my team that has Roma-". She then stopped and remebers Blacke and Oscar, but also Yang and Oscar. "Ok maybe there is a bit there".

To Coco, who had no context for Ruby words, she just thought Ruby was taking about her and Oscar. "Will, yeah the leader has a lot do trouble as well, but he got over it, that mess of team Became Number of there year".

Ruby blinked, still processing what Coco had said. "So, you're saying that even if my team feels like a mess, we can still figure it out?"

Coco smirked, leaning back against the wall. "Exactly. Every team has its growing pains, especially in the beginning. It's not about being perfect; it's about learning how to work together, even when things get awkward, messy, or complicated. Heck, sometimes it's that tension that pushes people to grow, individually and as a team."

Ruby looked down at her hands, her mind going back to her team. She thought about Blake, Oscar, and even Yang—each of them had their own struggles, and sometimes it felt like they weren't on the same page. But the idea that they could still grow together, despite their differences, made her feel a little less anxious about the future.

"I guess that makes sense," Ruby said, a small smile forming on her face. "We don't have to have it all figured out right now."

Coco nodded. "Exactly. You've got time to figure things out. And trust me, once you start seeing things from the leadership perspective, you'll understand that it's okay to not have all the answers. It's how you handle the mess that counts."

Ruby's smile grew, feeling more confident with each word. "Thanks, Coco. I think… I think I can do this."

Coco raised an eyebrow, a playful grin crossing her face. "Oh, I know you can, Red. But remember, it's not just about leading. It's about being there for your team, no matter what."

Ruby nodded, her resolve solidifying. She was ready to face the challenges ahead, knowing that even if her team was a little rough around the edges, they'd get through it together.

As the two of them walked back to where the others were waiting, Ruby couldn't help but feel a sense of purpose welling up inside her. She might not have all the answers yet, but she knew that with her team by her side, she'd figure it out. Together, they would become something great.
