Chapter 3: The achievement system (Rewrite)
Kenichi: (Well... I guess this is about one of those usual clichés that Isekai anime protagonists get.... The famous system that helps them become stronger and faster?
But what do you mean, a god gave it to me...?
Are there gods in this world too?
Well... Come to think of it, that wouldn't be weird either; in this world there are aliens, ghosts and magical girls. It's a world without a bit of common sense, so that doesn't surprise me that much).
The question now is whether I should accept it or not. I don't know how it works yet, but it could help me change the life I had in those alternate realities. It could help me change my pervert destiny and improve my life, but I'm still a little suspicious that a God has given it to me. He also says he's been watching me, which makes me a little insecure.
From what I know of gods, they are beings who generally do things for their own amusement. Although I only know them from stories, most portray them that way, especially the Greek gods; several of them did atrocious and disgusting things.
As for the outer gods, I know even less. They are portrayed in various ways; in some stories, such as Lovecraft's, they are presented as the most powerful group of gods, who have some horrific aspects that, just by looking at them, tend to cause madness and death in the beholder. In other stories, they are said to be gods from other worlds whose form can look like anything, but at the same time like nothing.
I know very little about them, but in almost every story they are mentioned as beings who like to spread chaos. Why would a god with that kind of nature want to help me?
Kenichi: (Hmm... On the one hand, I could reject it and just live with the ability to see alternate realities and strive to have a good life away from all this plot the world has concocted.... But, on the other hand, this world is more dangerous than it seems. Maybe the To Love-Ru story was humorous and no one ever got seriously hurt, but the fact that assassins hired by Lala's suitors so casually show up confirms that I can get caught up in something dangerous).
After several minutes of thinking about it and hesitating a lot, I decided to mentally click the option to accept.
Kenichi: (Well, whatever the intention of that god is, this actually benefits me. It's the chance to change my life and stop being the side character. If at some point I see that this is something weird or dangerous, I'll deal with that in due time).
*Ding* *Ding*
Once I accepted, the window closed and a new one popped up in front of me explaining how the system works.
===============================================
System Achievements
*The system was installed without any problem.
*Processing in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... 0...*
*The achievement system is now operational.
The function of the achievement system is characterized by rewarding the host for performing different types of achievements, which are:
- Achievements that are important to the host's life.
- Achievements that have to do with the plot of some fiction.
- Achievements that are related in some way to the main characters of some fiction.
*Also included is an option that allows the host to see his or her status as in a game.
===============================================
Kenichi: (Well, it's a much simpler system than I thought, but I'm not complaining; I don't like things too complicated. This system suits my preferences well. It also says that the quality of the rewards you receive will depend on the importance of the achievement).
I have to admit that I'm quite satisfied with this system; you could even say that it's quite a cheat. I already have that rare ability that allows me to see different realities and gain new knowledge, and now I have a system that will give me rewards. If I use it right, I might even manage to get powers or something like that.
But if there was anything to complain about, it would be that it seems like this system wants me to mess with the history of different anime. From what I remember from school, in this week I've already seen several students who look quite similar to characters from different anime I saw in alternate reality.
This doesn't really please me; I didn't want to get too involved with To Love-Ru's story, but I guess, being a secondary character, even if I don't want to, I'm going to be involved in some way. But the good side is that, unlike other systems, this one doesn't force me to do anything, so I don't have to worry too much.
Kenichi: "I'll check my status for now..."
===============================================
Status
- Name: Saruyama Kenichi
- Age: 16 years old
- Birthday: April 15
- Race: Human
- Planet: Earth
- Height: 166 cm
- Weight: 66 kg
- Titles: Gentlemanly pervert - The one who breaks his destiny
- Profession: Student
===============================================
Stats:
- Strength: 10 / +5 (Normal is 10)
- Agility: 8 (Normal is 10)
- Stamina: 10 (Normally 15)
- Defense: 15 / +5 (Normal is 10)
- Intelligence: 10 / +20 (Normal is 10)
- Luck: 5 (Normal is 10)
===============================================
Kenichi: (Well, as expected, I have average stats... Although I have no idea why my strength, defense, and intelligence have increased. The only thing I can think of is that my strength increased because of the right hook I threw a while ago; defense must be because I'm an anime character, and intelligence I'm not sure, but it's possible it's because of the knowledge of the other alternate realities).
I guess receiving new knowledge counts as increasing intelligence, although it's rather worrying that my luck is so low. From what I know from some anime, luck is very important. I hope there's some way to increase it in the future; after all, luck isn't like the other stats that can be increased by training.
Kenichi: (But leaving that aside.... What's with those titles... What the heck is that "Gentlemanly Pervert"? It's a new form of insult... I'm going to check the description; from what I know about games, sometimes titles come with perks, though with this kind of title I highly doubt it...)
===============================================
Gentlemanly Pervert:
To date, you have been a pervert, but a principled pervert. You have never harassed or used any dishonorable methods on any girl. While you may not be popular, but it's a fact that girls don't see you as bad as the rest of the perverts hanging around the school. This title keeps girls from looking at you unfavorably when you do kinky things (although if it's something really kinky, the title won't be as effective).
===============================================
Kenichi: "..."
They're sure they didn't get the wrong person.... I'm pretty sure this is the kind of title that Rito would have..... Although he says that if it's something really kinky it doesn't work, and Rito is forgiven even if it's something really kinky, so I guess this title is inferior to his kinky luck.
While it's true that he's been a pervert so far, I honestly don't feel comfortable having this title.... It feels like brainwashing. Good thing it doesn't work unless he does something kinky. I hope the other title will do me some good.
===============================================
The one who breaks his destiny:
Since you freed yourself from the control that the world had over your actions, you became an irregularity that is no longer bound by the principles of the world. Therefore, destiny can no longer restrain you. As long as you have this title, you can write your own history without any problem; the will of the world can no longer control your actions.
Warning: By becoming an irregular, your very existence alters the natural flow of things. Therefore, the will of the world may want to eliminate your existence.
===============================================
Kenichi: "..."
It's an amazing title, but... The only problem is that it's very disturbing to know that the world may try to eliminate me. I just hope this isn't a bad thing; I have enough to deal with knowing that I'm a side character who's destined to fall in love with the female version of his friend.
*Ding* *Ding*
When I was lost in my thoughts, the system sent me a new message.
===============================================
Achievement System
*Notification*
*Some achievements are already available*.
*Do you want to receive the rewards?*
Yes ✓ No ✗
===============================================
Seriously...
Although I don't remember getting any significant achievements, I did get in between one of Rito's usual perverted accidents a while ago.
Well, for now let's see what this system has to offer me....
===============================================
*You managed to free yourself from the control the world had over you*.
You received: X3 Plot Change Ticket
===============================================
*You managed to save Sairenji Haruna from having a perverted accident with Yuuki Rito*.
You received: Danger Sense
===============================================
*You managed to embarrass the main character Yuuki Rito in front of Sairenji Haruna*.
You received: Special Training Room
===============================================
*You managed to throw the first punch of your life with all your might without worrying about the damage*.
You received: Hanma Bloodline
===============================================
Kenichi: "Wow... T-That's a lot more than I thought.... This system is pretty flexible with achievements."
Also, the rewards aren't bad at all.... In fact, they're awesome...
Kenichi: (So that's what he meant by getting achievements that had to do with the main characters. Just getting Sairenji out of the way was enough for me to get a reward.... But what do you mean by making a fool of Rito? I did practically nothing, he fell on his own; the only thing I told him was to apologize).
Apparently, it's not necessary for me to do anything as flashy as taking the spotlight away from Rito. I simply have to help Rito and the girls when they're in trouble, and that way I can keep the rewards.
Kenichi: (Well, you know what... I don't care. I had already decided that I was going to do whatever I want with my life. I'm not going to worry about something like the plot or the will of the world anymore, and if this system is helping me to have my freedom, I have no reason to reject it).
After deciding to put my worries aside, I started to check the description of the rewards.
Kenichi: (Plot change ticket?)
===============================================
Name: Plot Change Ticket
Rank: SSR
Source: Achievement System
Description: This Ticket allows the host to change the plot of a particular time in the plot of any fiction, but the change has to be consistent with the story; otherwise, it will not work.
===============================================
When I finished reading, the whole room was illuminated by a golden glow that left me somewhat dazed at first. When I could finally get a good look, I noticed that in my hand I was holding some kind of golden colored ticket with black details and a flower symbol in the center.
Kenichi: "T-This is on another level.... In other words... If I want the sky to turn red.... With these tickets, as long as I find a way to make it coherent.... It's possible."
And since this world is like an anime, there are several things that can be made possible if I use these tickets. They're almost like the Dragon Balls of this world; I have to use them very carefully and think through how to change something coherently, otherwise I'll waste them. I also don't want this to go to my head and start acting like a God who can do whatever he wants with people. For now, I'll save them and only use them for an emergency.
Also, just like with the title of gentlemanly pervert, I don't feel very comfortable changing things like I'm a God. For now, I'll only use these three tickets when it's really necessary.
===============================================
Name: Danger Sense
Rank: R (Rare)
Origin: Boku no Hero Academia
Description: This Quirk allows the host to detect any potential threats in the surrounding area, giving them the opportunity to react appropriately and quickly. It is quite similar to having a sixth sense. The detection of a threat is described as a sharp stabbing sensation in the head, and its detection range is unknown. Depending on the threat it detects, this Quirk can have a great impact on the user's body.
==============================================
Boku no Hero Academia is an anime about people who are born with powers, like Marvel mutants. People called these mutations or powers "Quirks". In the story, it is never mentioned where these Quirks came from or why they started manifesting in people. When 80% of humanity had these Quirks, the profession of being a hero, like those in the comics, started to become popular.
Overall, it's a pretty good story, and although the main character, Midoriya Izuku, isn't my favorite character, he's much better than most of the main characters in other anime.
Kenichi: (If I'm not mistaken, this is like a weakened version of Spider-Sense from Spider-Man. From what I remember from Boku no Hero Academia, this Quirk was closely tied to the emotions and intentions of those around the user and detected negative vibes from enemies with even greater accuracy.)
It is not as powerful or as reliable as the spider sense, and also has its drawbacks. At first, Midoriya's body had some adverse reactions, probably due to the strain of having One for All. Luckily, I don't have it; otherwise, I would have the same problems.
Also, since it is linked to emotions and malicious intentions, these factors could influence the reaction of the sense of danger. For example, negative emotions could overwhelm and affect the user.
Kenichi: (But drawbacks aside, it's an amazing Quirk. In a ridiculous world where they usually send various aliens to kill Rito, with this Quirk I'll be able to detect their negative emotions if they're directed at me and deal with them before they attack. It may be weak compared to other Quirks, but it can have several uses. Also, the abilities of Quirks can evolve depending on how their user uses them).
I hope that doesn't happen, though... But, seeing how I've earned the World's displeasure, it's quite possible that they'll try to kill me or even take me hostage. It's true that I'm not someone important to the story, but I'm close to Rito, so the possibility of them attacking me, and even more so if they are influenced by the World, is quite high.
Although I have quite a few concerns, in the end the answer is only one.... I have to become stronger. If I want to do what I want and have a carefree life without anyone manipulating me, it's the only way.
Kenichi: (Who would have thought that just by pushing Sairenji out of the way when Rito was going to crash into her, I would achieve something so incredible? I guess this system is hinting at giving me increasingly broken rewards every time I get in Rito's way and change the plot of To Love-Ru).
I tried to test it, but I couldn't feel anything special. I guess I must be in some dangerous situation for it to work.
After testing for a while without any positive results, I went on to check out the next reward in the system.
===============================================
Name: Special training room
Rank: UR (Ultra Rare)
Source: Achievement System
Description: This is a special room that will be installed in the host's basement. It has all the different training equipment to develop your body; it also has a special effect that makes any training you do more effective than normal.
Important: The room will be upgraded as the host gets important achievements for his life related to training.
===============================================
Just as I finished reading the description, I was startled to feel the house start to shake. Luckily, the shaking was brief; it must have lasted only a few seconds.
Kenichi: "What the fuck was that...a tremor, but they haven't happened in a while!"
While I was still confused, the system showed me a new notification.
===============================================
Achievement system
*Warning*
*The subway special training room has been installed smoothly in the host's house. The house may shake slightly due to the sudden installation of a new room in the architecture, but it will not affect the structure of the house in any way.
===============================================
Kenichi: "That warning came a little late!"
After complaining a bit to the system, which had no way of answering me, I noticed that a door I had never seen before appeared on the wall in the hallway. I walked towards it and opened it; inside were some stairs. I started walking down them until I reached what I thought was a basement.
Kenichi: "W-what the fuck.... I knew from the description that it was a special room, but I wasn't expecting that much..."
When I got to the training room, I couldn't help but be surprised. It was a huge room, several times bigger than my house, and inside it had all kinds of training machines. There were modern machines like treadmills, exercise bikes, leg presses, adductor machines and even punching bags. The room was equipped with everything needed to strengthen the body.
Kenichi: (Even the best gyms must not have that many training machines... In fact, I'm pretty sure several of these machines don't even exist in this world; there's even those giant weights Zoro used in One Piece).
I have to admit, this room is amazing; plus, it has that special effect that makes the training more effective.... This room is already amazing and it can still be upgraded. I wonder what improvements it will have with the upgrade.
I looked around the room curiously for quite a while, until I could finally see everything that was there.
Kenichi: "Well... I guess I only have the last reward left.... System, show me the description..."
===============================================
Name: Hanma Bloodline
Rank: UR (Ultra Rare)
Origin: Baki the Fighter
Description: A bloodline that possesses immense human potential, allowing the awakening of Demonic Face and Demonic Brain, along with two inherent advantages that depend on genetics and bloodline, such as height and the ability to build muscle. Upon activation, the user experiences a significant increase in strength at their current level, including physical prowess, mental acuity, speed and more.
===============================================
When I read the description, I couldn't help but be very surprised.
The Hanma lineage...
I was quite familiar with it thanks to my ability to see alternate realities; this powerful lineage came from a fighting anime called Baki the Grappler.
The story is about Baki, a boy who was trained from a young age by his father, Hanma Yuujirou, the main antagonist of the Baki franchise, and is also the strongest character in the series, proclaimed by all as "The Strongest Creature on Earth" or "The Ogre". He was feared and respected by all who knew him.
His only goal is to make Baki stronger. His motives for this are a mixture of paternal projection of Yuujirou and the potential to create a stronger opponent for himself, for his own entertainment. To achieve this, he subjected young Baki to savage training that traumatized him and filled him with hatred and resentment. Hatred that increased even more when Yuujirou killed Akezawa Emi, Baki's mother, in cold blood.
Having overcome his training, Baki embarks on a journey around the world that takes him to face great fighters of all styles and skills even out of this world, in clandestine bouts where nothing is at stake but honor. Guided by his thirst for revenge, Baki crosses paths with the most fearsome enemies on a bloody path.
Although it is a rather bloodthirsty anime, I personally liked it quite a bit.
In my enthusiasm, I accepted the reward without much thought, but by the time I realized it, it was too late; an intense pain assaulted my whole body and, before I knew it, I fell to the ground unconscious.
