Chapter 8: Sword Art Online
Well, there is nothing special to note about what happened the next day, I simply got up earlier than usual, had breakfast and went for a run while enjoying the morning breeze, although I had a far superior physique than most people, I was a complete amateur when it came to training, so I used my skill and got to see all the different types of training, both physical and muscular, what I didn't expect was to receive two new rewards so early in the morning.
===============================================
*You managed in your first training session*
You received: Training room upgrade
===============================================
*You managed to run at your maximum speed without stopping*
You received: Quicksilver
===============================================
Improvement for the training room.
Now the training room has an integrated gravity augmentation system, it can increase gravity up to X10 times.
===============================================
Name: Quicksilver
Rank: R (Rare)
Origin: Solo Leveling
Description: This is a speed ability. This ability allows the user to increase his speed by 30% for one minute. The speed increases as the host levels up.
Important: Generally, this skill consumes mana, but since the host does not have it, it will consume stamina instead.
===============================================
The rewards weren't that impressive, but any improvement is welcome no matter how small, plus I have to take advantage, I'm getting so many rewards just because I'm just starting to do several things, but I'm sure in the future I'll start getting less and less rewards.
But this doesn't stop being impressive, now the training room is similar to the one in the spaceship where Goku and Vegeta trained, although this one only has an increase of X10 and theirs reached X100, but this will help me a lot when I start my training.
And the Quicksilver skill, although simple, could be quite useful during a fight, increasing speed so much during a fight could catch anyone off guard.
Kenichi: (Now let's evaluate a bit my current situation regarding To Love-Ru, the whole story is mainly humor, there is no complicated story, it's just a romantic comedy with a lot of Ecchi scenes, even if in the story appear Lala's fiancés and several assassins hired to kill Rito, in the end they are just stupid and perverted guys, even Rito a teenager without any physical training or special skills apart from soccer could deal with them, later on those characters even stopped being relevant and stopped appearing).
That would leave Lala's father and Yami as my only concerns. In the sequel to To Love-Ru, the story tried to become a bit more serious and have some fights.... Although they always ended up with Rito having kinky situations while trying to stop them.
On those occasions I have to admit that I disliked Rito's attitude, during all the fights he stayed as stiff as a statue without doing anything, but when the fights were about to end he would always jump in yelling that fighting was wrong and ended up falling on the girls and touching them in a perverted way.
But leaving that aside, during the whole beginning of the story I won't have much to worry about, up to that point in the story the only real threat to earth is Yami's hidden form called Darkness, when she transforms she is capable of easily destroying planets, she even has a technique called planet slicer which is basically her creating a giant knife capable of slicing up entire planets.
The good thing is that there is still a long way to go, and unless I get involved willingly all that will be Rito's problem, for now I have to concentrate on getting stronger at my own pace.
After thinking that I continued with my morning training.
*1 hour later*
I was running for another hour around the neighborhood and also did different types of warm-ups, when I got back to my house, I quickly went to the training room, when I checked it carefully I realized that on one of the walls there was a touch panel that showed me the options to increase the gravity, it was the same as the description of the system, just to test it I increased the gravity X2.
Immediately I realized how stupid I was, I almost made the same mistake as Goku, the one when he was training and the gravity suddenly increased due to a mistake and ended up crushed by gravity while giving his best effort to reach the machine and turn it off, luckily for me I only increased it X2, when it happened to Goku the gravity was 100 times higher than on Earth, although I felt my body incredibly heavy to the point that taking a single step was complicated I managed to take a few steps around the room before turning it off.
This made it clear that my body is not yet ready to use gravity, but it is not impossible either, at least I was able to withstand X2 gravity.
For the next 5 hours I was immersed in doing all kinds of exercise.
First I started doing bench presses, after a short while I realized that I was considering my workout like everyone else's, but my body is much stronger than the average person's, so I have to start with much more weight for the workout to be effective. In the end I kept lifting 300kg weights.
Although I didn't weigh that much and I was still quite far from the world record, but rushing doesn't bring anything good, first I have to get my body used to the training, for now this is a good start.
My routine stayed the same without any changes until lunchtime, I did everything, squats, push-ups, sit-ups, I even used some of the training machines.
Then it was time for lunch, as I only had simple supermarket ingredients I tried cooking the fake roast pork that Yukihira Souma made at the beginning of Shokugeki no Souma, it's a pretty simple dish that anyone with basic knowledge about cooking should be able to cook.
The ingredients are:
-11 Thick bacon strips
-7 potatoes
-2 Thistle mushrooms
-Multiple sprigs of Rosemary
-Red wine
-Sweet sake
-Soy Sauce
-1 tablespoon of butter
-Berro
The main part of this meal is to replace the meat with the potatoes and roll them with the bacon to pass it off as roast pork, this is something you see quite often in vegetarian cooking, although it is a simple dish it is not something that a beginner can do easily, you need to keep several steps in mind when preparing it.
After a full hour, the fake roast pork dish was finally ready.
Kenichi: "..."
Kenichi: (Although I was the one who cooked it, I have to admit that it looks quite succulent, plus it's releasing smoke quite exaggeratedly, I wonder if this is also an effect of the anime world, even though it's a fairly simple dish, even without the knowledge of Shokugeki no Souma I should be able to cook it without much trouble, but for some strange reason it looks much better than anything I've prepared before)
With nothing more to say I started to eat.
Kenichi: "Hmm...! Nnn...!!!"
And to my surprise, for such a simple meal it was incredibly delicious, I couldn't even tell the difference between potatoes and pork, before I knew it I was already hallucinating in a world full of golden meat juice.
Kenichi: "Phew... At this point I'm glad I'm a man and have stamina... Otherwise I'd be blushing and moaning by now... What the fuck is wrong with this dish? I'm pretty sure I didn't add any special ingredients... So this is the culinary orgasm of Shokugeki no Souma... And to think that such an incredible taste can be produced from such a simple dish, I guess this is only possible because this world follows the logic of anime."
After enjoying the delicious food, now it was the turn of the long awaited dessert, I cut a small piece of the rainbow fruit and used its juice to make a jelly, who would have thought that a cut as small as the one you would make to an apple would produce enough juice to fill an entire bathtub, besides I was tempted several times by the sweet smell.
Besides the Toriko anime didn't do the jelly justice, it was so incredibly beautiful and shiny, it was on a completely different level than any other food I've ever eaten in my life, I only had one bite and the taste changed four times inside my mouth, neither the sweetness of hundreds of condensed ripe mangoes, nor the lemons compare to the explosion of acidity I felt, the fifth taste had the aroma of sweet chestnuts, it was a collection of flavors in one bite, and to finish the sixth taste felt like an explosion that went down my throat.
When I saw this scene I thought that Toriko was exaggerating, but I see that I was wrong, learning the cooking techniques of Shokugeki no Souma's world was the right decision, with my current level I can't see myself cooking at the same level as the cooks of Toriko's world, at most I could copy Komatsu's techniques at the beginning of the story, but the skills of the best chefs of that world are far beyond my current capabilities.
Besides the ingredients of Toriko's world had a strange power, when I finished eating I could feel my strength increase slightly and I also felt full of energy, it's as if I had recovered all the stamina that was depleted during the training, honestly the food of Toriko's world could not be underestimated, this is a food I would be willing to fight for.
The rest of the afternoon went the same way as in the morning, I did different types of workouts where I pushed my body to the limit, for the moment I kept doing just that, I plan to start combat training tomorrow.
I even kept punching a punching bag for almost a whole hour, I even provided performing some special boxing moves like the "Gazelle Punch" and the "Dempsey Roll", I have so much brute strength that those moves were much more brutal than the original ones, in the end the equipment couldn't hold and ended up breaking, the good thing is that everything in the training room self-repairs itself after breaking.
I was doing the same thing all the time, until finally the night came.
After taking a nice bath, I prepared dinner, not forgetting to prepare a nice dessert made with the delicious rainbow fruit. After this second time I realized that eating fruit after training is quite effective for my body, just thinking about the effect it will have when I have the gourmet cells makes me quite excited.
But all that aside, it's already eight o'clock at night, still quite early, so I decided to go on with my next plan for the day. Finally the long awaited moment has come when I will write my own light novel.
For now I will only write two chapters and upload them to ***, which is a web novel publishing website for fans. If I manage to keep my novel as the first in popularity, it is possible that some publisher will contact me to publish it as a light novel.
Kenichi: "The question now is, what novel should I write?"
Ideally, I would write a fantasy or futuristic novel, but right now, since I don't know what fictions exist in this world in reality, I can't touch stories about students. What if I end up writing a story about someone who exists and they end up suing me?
If I follow the cliché, I should write an Isekai story, but the problem is that in this world that's the most popular genre, almost all recent novels are about that, although most of them have a stupid story, they mainly look like stories made by little kids or by degenerates, they are all the same kind of stupid plot with harem and Ecchi scenes, they are stories quite similar to To Love-Ru.
Though come to think of it, it doesn't have to be an Isekai either, there are several fantasy stories that deal with medieval worlds with magic and swords.
After thinking about it for quite some time, and discarding several options, I decided that the first novel I was going to write was going to be Sword Art Online, a story that mixes both futurism and fantasy, although there are several other stories that are better, most of them are more suitable to be made as manga, such as Fairy Tail, Bleach or One Piece.
I recall that Swor Art Online (SAO) is a fairly popular light novel that was adapted into an anime and even had movies and several RPG games.
The story takes place in the year 2022, when a VRMMORPG virtual reality massively multiplayer online role-playing game called "Sword Art Online" had just been released. There, players can enter a world called Aincrad and control their avatars just as they would their real bodies through Nerve Gear, a virtual reality headset capable of stimulating all five senses through their brains. However, after entering the first day, players find that they are unable to exit the game; soon after, SAO creator Kayaba Akihiko appears and informs them that if they die in the virtual world, they will also die in the real world, as well as revealing that to exit the game, they must first overcome the one hundred floors of Aincrad. As the players try to cope with their situation, protagonist Kirigaya Kazuto (Kirito) and heroine Yuuki Asuna are determined to win and be free.
In my personal opinion, it's a very good story, although after the first arc the story declined a bit, that doesn't mean it's a bad story. I feel that this world needs stories like this that have some suspense.
Also, even though I said I was going to write the SAO novel, I didn't mean I was going to copy and paste it just like that, obviously I'm going to change several things, one of the most important is that I'm going to extend the story of the first game a bit more.
The story of SAO revolves around virtual reality games, apart from the first game the protagonist Kirigaya Kazuto aka Kirito, enters several other games in which he has to solve various problems that can cause great impacts on his life and reality, a good example is the first game which was practically a survival game.
The novel had several arcs, but definitely the best one was the first one, so I intend to lengthen the story more at the beginning, the good thing is that I have enough material to use, I also want to go deeper into Kirito's relationship with Asuna, I think their relationship progressed too fast, only a few chapters passed and they were already living a life as newlyweds.
Kenichi: (Now that I think about it.... Just writing the story isn't going to be enough, one of the biggest attractions of light novels are the illustrations, no one is going to want to buy a book that has a blank cover, in fact, that's one of the biggest problems light novels have in this world).
Unlike other worlds, This one is very backward in many things, in anime culture this can be seen in light novels, even though there are several good novels they are usually ignored for not having any visual appeal, that's why it's not uncommon for several writers to stop writing sequels and always leave them abandoned in the first few volumes, this is not a joke, and it's not just light novels, almost all literary books are in decline, that's why I plan to monopolize entertainment in Japan in the future....
Kenichi: (Although, this is just an idea for the future).
For now it doesn't make sense to think too much about that, and it's impossible for me to do that alone, at some point I'll have to need help, like mangakas who usually have assistants to help them advance faster in their work.
After I thought that, I started writing the first chapter of SAO, honestly, the beginning was so good that I don't think I have to change anything.
Unexpectedly it only took me 15 minutes to write the first two chapters, as it was still early I decided to keep writing. In the end after an hour I had 10 chapters written, unlike the original novel, I went a little deeper into Kirito's story and his experience as a Beta Tester.
In the history of SAO, Beta Testers are people who have been lucky enough to beta test a video game such as VRMMORPG. In the case of SAO, 1000 players had the opportunity to test the game before its official release.
The other SAO players had a strong resentment towards the Beta Testers as they had exclusive knowledge of the beta phase; therefore, they had a much bigger advantage than the other 9000 normal players because they knew the abilities and weapons of the monsters and even the bosses and therefore it would be much easier for them to survive longer in the game.
Since it suddenly became a survival game, it was obvious that there would be some discontent, although it was unfounded. While it is true that Beta Testers had an advantage in having prior knowledge about the game, that did not mean that they were better players than the rest. In fact, Kirito himself mentioned that most of them were no more than novices. Moreover, at the beginning of the game, they were the ones who handed out the strategy guide by zones to help those who had no previous knowledge to survive.
In the end it is only mentioned in the story that Kirito was the Beta Tester who made it the farthest in the test version, but it never went into much depth about what his experience was like or his life before joining SAO, if I had to give an example, my story is a bit similar to Sword Art Online Progressive, which is a reboot of the Aincrad arc that starts a few days before the cleaning of Floor 1, you could say it is a story that tells in a more complete way what happened during the three years that the characters were trapped in SAO.
Anyway, after continuing to write, I ended up getting immersed in writing, by the time I realized it was quite late and I had already written more than 40 chapters, enough material for almost two volumes of a light novel, after a quick review I was quite satisfied with the result, I filled several gaps in the story and went a little deeper into the background of the secondary characters, also the Aincrad arc originally only had two volumes, but I already have that same amount and I still have a lot more material left, it's possible that I can extend the first arc to have at least five or six volumes.
After I finished my writing, I proceeded to create an account on *** and uploaded the first five chapters, with the amount I wrote I don't have to worry about writing new chapters for several days, plus since I already have the whole SAO plot in my mind and I have a superior body than other people, my writing speed is much faster than other writers.
And just when I finished uploading the two chapters I was surprised to receive two new notifications from the system.
===============================================
*You managed to write your first web novel*
You received: Elucidator
===============================================
*You managed to publish your first novel*
You received: Dark Repulser
===============================================
When I read the rewards I couldn't help but be surprised, although I already knew that the system was quite generous with rewards for achievements, but I never thought I would receive rewards related to the story I was writing.
Also, they weren't ordinary rewards, they were the two main swords Kirito used in SAO, while it's true that they weren't the strongest swords in the novel, that didn't take away from the fact that they were two of the strongest weapons in SAO.
Kenichi: (Shit... If I had known I was going to receive a reward related to the novel I uploaded I would have written a novel with higher power levels like Tensura, but I'm not complaining either, now I have some good weapons that will be useful to defend myself if someone powerful wants to kill me).
That Lala's father is powerful doesn't mean that out in space there aren't more people equally or even more powerful than him, in fact, in To Love-Ru Darkness it was explained that the reason why he had the appearance of a child is because during the galaxy war in a desperate moment he used all his power and that's why he returned to the appearance of a child until his powers returned, in the story they were vague with the explanations, so I'm not very sure, that's why it can be useful to have weapons like this.
After my initial surprise, I quickly began to review the description of the rewards.
===============================================
Name: Elucidator
Rank: UR (Ultra Rare)
Origin: Sword Art Online
Description: A sword introduced in the Sword Art Online game, this sword is an item left by a boss-type demonic creature on the 50th floor of Aincrad, it is an almost indestructible sword in addition to not requiring any maintenance, it also increases the host's strength and agility.
Important: Thanks to system modifications, the Elucidator sword can use all of SAO's one-handed sword abilities in reality.
===============================================
I couldn't help but get excited after reading the description.
Can anyone blame me.
I'm a guy in my teens too, obviously things like fantasy swords and magic excite me, and even more so if it's one of the iconic SAO swords.
After calming down a bit, I accepted the reward, and after the usual golden glow, what appeared in front of me was a one-handed straight sword, with a flat black blade and a thin white edge. The handle was cylindrical and was attached to the blade by two different pieces, one of them resembled a third of a circle with barbs sticking out, and the other piece was shaped like an L, from its length I could tell that it must measure around 1.20 mt and it was also accompanied by an elegant black sheath.
===============================================
Elucidator
Long Sword / One Hand
Range: Short
Type: Slash
Attack: 700
Durability: 1350
Weight: 2 kg
Agility: +28
Strength: +48
===============================================
When I held it I couldn't help but be fascinated, it didn't feel like any cutting object I've ever held before in my life, in fact, I felt that even without using any sword technique I could cut anything easily, and also, I was surprised to see a small transparent panel next to the sword, it was similar to the one in the SAO novel, it showed me the stats of the sword. Wanting to check something I opened my stats and clearly both my strength and agility went up the moment I held the sword, this was quite similar to an RPG, the basic stats increased after equipping different types of Items.
I got excited and went down to the training room and started doing various sword moves, at first I just waved my sword normally, but thanks to my knowledge of SAO it didn't take much for me to know how to perform the different sword techniques, well, even though I say that, they weren't really complicated, most of them just consisted of waving the sword in a specific way, it wasn't a complicated science.
I could even easily perform high level moves like Horizontal Square or Vertical Square, I think I'm starting to understand why Kirito likes virtual reality games so much, performing these sword techniques feels great, now I just need enemies to use them.
Kenichi: "Now let's see the other sword... I have to admit I'm really looking forward to using the two swords together."
===============================================
Name: Dark Repulser
Rank: UR (Ultra Rare)
Origin: Sword Art Online
Description: It is a sword introduced in the Sword Art Online game, created by the blacksmith Lisbeth with a crystallite ingot obtained through the White Dragon quest, just like Elucidator it is an almost indestructible Sword and also requires no maintenance.
Important: Thanks to system modifications, the Dark Repulser sword can use all of SAO's one-handed sword abilities in reality.
===============================================
The instant I finished reading the description, a one-handed straight sword with a light blue-green blade and a dark blue cylindrical hilt appeared in my left hand. The part connecting the blade to the hilt contained a small oval in the center and two sharp points perpendicular to each other. The blade is narrow at the tip and ends in a sort of diamond shape. And like Elucidator, it also had an elegant black sheath.
===============================================
Dark Repulser
Long Sword / One Handed
Range: Short
Type: Slash
Attack: 680 / 700
Durability: 1200
Weight: 1.5 Kg
Agility: +12
Strength: +52
===============================================
From its stats you could see that it was only a little weaker than Elucidator, it had less durability and also weighed less, if there was something in which it surpassed it was in the amount of strength it gave me when I had it equipped.
I was using it for a while and realized that it was much easier to use than Elucidator, maybe it was because of the way it was shaped when it was forged, but Dark Repulser was much more focused on stabbing attacks.
I spent several hours wielding both swords, but no matter what I did, I couldn't replicate Kirito's dual sword technique. In fact, I think I underestimated him a bit. Normal SAO techniques are simple, but Kirito's dual sword is a unique ability granted to the fastest.
Kirito's dual sword technique was far from simple. He used one sword to attack and the other to defend. It was an unusual style, requiring the same amount of strength in both arms. Not only that, but the mind had to be perfectly focused and the body precisely coordinated for the extra sword to become an advantage and not a disadvantage. The slightest hesitation or delay would leave a vital opening for the opponent to exploit.
The difficulty and discipline required to master such a style was immense, and so few swordsmen ever attempted to use this style in human history, let alone dared to try it in combat. Even then, it was usually attempted with one long sword and one short sword to avoid the possibility of the two blades clashing.
In fact, there is another light novel called "Kimi to Boku no Saigo no Senjou", in which the protagonist uses a similar style to Kirito, but unlike him, Kirito uses one long sword and one short sword, making it clear that Kirito defied all expectations, wielding his dual swords in a perfect sequence of attack and defense.
Although we must give him credit, we must also not forget that the only reason he could do it is because he was in a game, actually that technique should be impossible to replicate in real life, or at least it should be, but since I have the system I am not someone normal either, now I am as 'Cheater' as Kirito, so although it is difficult at first I am sure that with time I will be able to do it successfully.
I was practicing countless times in the short time since I started, before I realized it was already early morning but that did not stop me from continuing, I would not be satisfied until I could perform this move to perfection, I already have a system helping me, but if I want to get to completely free myself from the influence of the world I also have to do my part, I also have one of the strongest lineages of mankind, one that has never been taken to the limit, so I have to try harder.
I was practicing without stopping at any time, until after 6 hours of pure training without a break, I was finally able to do it perfectly. I think this is the first time in my life that I felt so accomplished doing something, I was so excited that I even shouted out the name of Kirito's iconic move from sheer excitement.
Kenichi: "Starburst Stream!!!"
As if responding to my shout, both swords lit up with a sky blue glow and quick as lightning I made 16 slashes almost instantly, not feeling satisfied I kept throwing slash after slash, I even lost count of how many times I did it, I stopped only when my arms started to burn.
Who would have thought that Hanma's blood wouldn't be enough, in the end I had to rely on my Quirk Strong Shoulders to be able to use it perfectly, not even my increased strength and agility were enough, but I'm satisfied with the result, I don't want to brag but I'm pretty sure I surpassed Kirito's original technique.
In the light novel, 'Starburst Stream' was a sword skill that consisted of 16 continuous slashes, while in the anime it was around 20, although at one point in the anime, it was mentioned that Kirito managed to perform 50 continuous slashes, an amount that far exceeded the number of slashes designated by the skill.
I wanted to record my progress, so I put my cell phone in a corner to record myself.
I have to admit that I was quite surprised by what I saw on the recording. I completely outperformed Kirito's Starburst Stream, both my speed and accuracy were far superior, even with my enhanced vision I couldn't see exactly how many cuts I made, but I'm sure it was well over 50, I would venture to say that this is not Kirito's technique, this is definitely an enhanced version.
This is my very own Starburst Stream!
When I realized that, I couldn't help but feel happy, although in terms of power level I'm still not even close to Lala's father, but I'm definitely growing up, I'm really changing my destiny, I'm no longer the protagonist's perverted friend, now I'm finally in control of my own life and I can do whatever I want with it.
Kenichi: "Come to think of it, during training I received more rewards that I hadn't checked out yet, I was so immersed in mastering the double grip that I ignored it."
