Chapter 11: The Whispered Warning

Restless from the whispers that seemed to follow him, Jin Soo met Min Jae in their usual spot overlooking the city. He hadn't shared much of his recent struggles, but Min Jae could sense something was off.

"Jin Soo," Min Jae began, concern evident in his voice, "if these shadows are after you, maybe we can use that against them. What if we lure them into a trap?"

Jin Soo hesitated. It was a risky idea, but one that could turn the tables in their favour. "Alright," he replied, determination hardening in his gaze. "But we need Eun Ha's help."

Later that evening, the three of them gathered to strategize. They decided to stage an encounter in an old temple on the edge of town, where Jin Soo would act as bait. Eun Ha agreed, her expression serious. "If they come for you, we'll be ready," she said, her hand on the hilt of her sword.

The sun dipped below the horizon as they prepared. Jin Soo stood alone in the temple courtyard, his light pulsing in his palm. Eun Ha and Min Jae hid nearby, weapons ready, watching for any sign of the shadows.

Minutes passed before an unnatural chill filled the air, and shadows gathered around Jin Soo, their red eyes gleaming in the darkness. Two creatures lunged toward him, but Eun Ha struck first, her sword cutting through one with ease. Min Jae launched a bright flare from his rune stone, blinding the second creature long enough for Jin Soo to destroy it with a blast of light.

Just as they caught their breath, a third figure emerged—a shadowy warrior who looked disturbingly familiar. Its voice was a chilling echo. "Jin Soo… you are strong, but you can't defeat us alone."

Jin Soo's pulse quickened. "Who are you?"

The figure twisted with a mix of pain and anger. "I am what remains of those before you. Join us, and you will understand."

But Jin Soo refused, focusing on the warmth of his light. "I'm not alone," he replied, feeling the strength of Eun Ha and Min Jae by his side.

Together, they unleashed a wave of light and steel, dissolving the figure back into the darkness. As silence returned, Jin Soo glanced at his friends. This was just one battle, but he knew with them by his side, he could face whatever lay ahead.
