Chapter 12: The Shadow’s Tether
Chapter 12: The Shadow's Tether
The chill of the shadowy warrior's warning lingered in Jin Soo's mind for days. His resolve remained unbroken, but questions gnawed at him. Who were the warriors before him? Why did the shadows know him so intimately? His hand unconsciously brushed over the mark on his palm, a silent reminder of the battle ahead.
Eun Ha and Min Jae noticed the change in Jin Soo's demeanor. During training sessions, Eun Ha pushed him harder than ever. "Your light is growing stronger, but strength without clarity is a weapon misused," she said, her voice sharp yet encouraging.
Seo Jin, who had been observing from a distance, finally stepped in. "You're connected to them now, Jin Soo," he said solemnly. "The shadows see your fears, your doubts. If you let them take root, they'll turn them against you."
Determined to find answers, Jin Soo suggested revisiting the old shrine where he first encountered Seo Jin. There, he hoped the whispers of the past might provide some clarity. Together, the group made their way through the forest, the atmosphere heavy with unease.
When they arrived, the shrine seemed different, its air thicker and more oppressive. As they stepped inside, a familiar voice echoed, soft but insistent.
"Jin Soo... You must remember. The tether is the key."
"What does that mean?" Jin Soo muttered, but the voice gave no further explanation. Suddenly, the shrine trembled, and a pulse of shadow energy erupted. Figures materialized—dark, twisted creatures resembling the warriors from his visions.
Eun Ha drew her sword, and Seo Jin summoned his energy, but Jin Soo stepped forward, the mark on his hand glowing. Something told him this battle was his alone.
As the shadows lunged, Jin Soo's light surged. He didn't just fight with force; he fought with understanding, letting the light guide him. The battle was fierce, but when the last shadow dissolved, the shrine fell silent once more.
Breathing heavily, Jin Soo turned to his friends. "The tether," he said, gripping his marked hand. "It's connected to something—or someone. We need to find out what."
