Shinigami: Medicine Can't Save The Soul Reaper Society

Chapter 186: Chapter 187: Kuchiki Sojun

It had to be said that Byakuya wasn't wrong—these days, the Gotei 13 was under immense pressure.

Originally, the captain of the Thirteenth Division, Jushiro Ukitake, due to his health issues, could spend most of his time resting in the division barracks and was unable to personally provide support in the Human World.

As a result, whenever traces of Hollows were detected in the Human World in the past, it was usually the responsibility of the support team from the Third Division, led by Otoribashi Rose, to head there and assist.

However, with Rose now forced to flee the Soul Society, this task had to be handed over to the Sixth Division for assistance.

By comparison, the Fourth Division was currently the most stable among the Gotei 13, no longer having to act like a "firefighting unit" to aid other divisions.

Soon, Makoto was invited to attend the ceremony appointing Byakuya as the third seat of the Sixth Division.

In the days that followed, the Fourth Division returned to normalcy in all aspects.

While Makoto began researching Hisana's condition, he also spent several months deliberating on the right moment to present the newly designed physician and nurse uniforms to Captain Unohana.

After all, Makoto's improvements to these uniforms were officially claimed to be based on the Human World's hospital systems. He had to ensure that no one suspected these designs were adapted entirely from his memories, to avoid any misunderstandings about his intentions.

Just as Makoto was finalizing his drafts in the office, a Hell Butterfly swiftly flew in and landed on his shoulder.

[The Sixth Division has been attacked in the Human World. Vice Captain Senju Makoto of the Fourth Division is to immediately deploy the rescue unit to provide emergency aid!]

Makoto froze for a moment before quickly standing up and striding out of the office, calling out loudly:

"Risa, lead the first rescue unit to the Sixth Division's Senkaimon immediately and head to the Human World for medical support!"

Without waiting for the first rescue unit to gather, Makoto used Shunpo to rush towards the Thirteenth Division, his expression grim.

Being called upon to deploy the rescue unit on such short notice was a clear sign of a severe situation. There must have been significant casualties, leaving no time to transport the injured back to the Seireitei.

More importantly, Makoto remembered that in the original version, Kuchiki Sojun had reportedly died unexpectedly during a mission like this.

"Could it be… this time?"

The image of Kuchiki Sojun's humble and gentle demeanor surfaced in Makoto's mind, prompting him to quicken his Shunpo.

It wasn't just his amicable relationship with Byakuya that drove him. Rationally, losing a noble figure as exemplary as Sojun was a tragic waste.

When Makoto arrived at the Thirteenth Division, Captain Jushiro Ukitake, pale-faced and coughing intermittently, was already waiting in front of the Senkaimon.

"Makoto, is it just you?" Ukitake asked weakly.

"The first rescue unit will arrive shortly, but I was concerned about the urgency in the Human World, so I decided to go ahead," Makoto explained.

"I… cough, cough… I appreciate it, Makoto, but perhaps you should wait a little. I've also contacted Captain Kyoraku, and he'll be here soon."

After a brief pause, Ukitake's face showed a trace of bitterness as he said,

"It's… all my fault. If my health weren't an issue, this crisis wouldn't have arisen, and I wouldn't be powerless in this situation."

Makoto, still worried about Sojun and Byakuya, declined Ukitake's suggestion and insisted on going ahead.

"Very well," Ukitake eventually relented, cautioning Makoto to be careful and providing a brief update on the situation in the Human World.

Initially, the Twelth Division's surveillance had detected a brief spiritual pressure fluctuation from an Adjuchas-class Hollow in a specific area of the Human World. Consequently, Sixth Division Vice Captain Kuchiki Sojun led a team to investigate and purify the threat.

However, no one expected the Adjuchas to possess the ability to completely conceal its spiritual pressure. After nearly a month of fruitless searching, when it was nearly confirmed that the Adjuchas had returned to Hueco Mundo, it launched a sudden attack, severely injuring Kuchiki Sojun and rendering him unable to use his Bankai.

Hearing this, Makoto was momentarily surprised.

After all, Kuchiki Sojun was well-known in the Seireitei for his frail constitution and unsuitability for combat. Who would have thought he had mastered Bankai?

Still, for the Seireitei to confidently dispatch Sojun to eliminate the Adjuchas, it made sense that he would at least have such capabilities.

Without further delay, Makoto stepped into the Senkaimon and, guided by the Hell Butterfly, swiftly navigated through the Dangai.

In the next moment, a Senkaimon appeared in mid-air in the Human World, opening swiftly as Makoto emerged.

The Human World.

Unlike the Soul Society and Hueco Mundo, composed entirely of spiritual particles, most of the Human World's matter was made of physical particles known as "Kishi "(器子, Holdlet(s)).

At this moment, the Human World was shrouded in midnight darkness, with the city below completely engulfed by the night.

The next instant, Makoto sensed the overwhelming spiritual pressure of an Adjuchas, along with the spiritual pressures of Kuchiki Sojun, Kuchiki Byakuya, and other Sixth Division Shinigami.

However, Sojun's spiritual pressure was alarmingly unstable!

Makoto used Shunpo to land atop a tall building overlooking the battlefield.

He saw Sojun leading over ten Shinigami in an attempt to contain a humanoid Adjuchas.

Yet, the situation was dire. Sojun had a prominent wound on his lower back, with blood streaming from it relentlessly.

In addition, nine Sixth Division Shinigami lay further out, their conditions unknown.

Clearly, the situation was extremely unfavorable for the 6th Division.

This humanoid Adjuchas was vastly different from the "foolish" Adjuchas Makoto had encountered in Rukongai. After observing it for only a few moments, Makoto discerned its exceptionally high intelligence.

The Adjuchas avoided being restrained by Bakudo spells and maintained constant pressure on Sojun, preventing him from receiving any medical attention.

Sojun's condition was rapidly deteriorating!

"Endless vitality, Shinro Basho!"

Without further hesitation, Makoto released his Zanpakuto. A vast field of greenery spread out from him, providing immediate medical aid to Sojun amidst the battle.
