Chapter 5: Evoke the Past with Hope [2]
When the contents on the plate were finished, Darlos picked the napkin and cleaned his lips softly. He was all mannered.
"You should finish yours too; it doesn't display the good manners of a soldier." Said Darlos.
Leon had eaten only half of the meat. He loved the taste, but the mood of silence had not let him enjoy even a bit.
Furthermore, how can he enjoy a good meal when he hasn't done anything? The first step didn't even reach half the quarter.
"I lived for more than three thousand years; while spending my time, I had learnt something that let me live even today."
An hourglass manifested in the mid-air, with one section filled with sand and another a vacant section; the sand yet had to fill it.
"You know how time went on without stopping for someone, but…"
The sand tickled down to the second section. It was in a regular state.
"If you take hasty actions, the result is obvious. Aside from that, the time will forge ahead faster than ever."
The sand began to fall in swift. It felt so fast; it was like many particles of the sand disappeared behind many other particles. Instead of the second number particle falling, the sixth had fallen, and instead of the seventh falling, the number ninth had fallen.
"You think your faster than time, but actually you are suffering, and, in the end, you will have to take the same path you took this time."
Leon eyelids quivered a bit; he knew Darlos had knowledge, but to this extent it was surprising.
"Before you show anything, let me finish first," said Darlos, and he began to explain again.
"When your actions are slow, time will be regular, but if you're regular with your decision, it same goes for the time."
"What exactly are you trying to tell me? It's obvious, not about being regular."
"Indeed, your enemies are no different than that. When you try to get ahead of them, you begin to miss things out, but when you are slow, they get ahead of you."
Leon got the point, "But in that way I wouldn't be able to save everything at time."
"Ridiculous, you have to take the same action as they are taking."
Leon started to ponder; Holy Palace always took measurements regarding their enemy. Before the storm could come for them, they made their own storm, but far bigger.
Leon had seen this for a long time, enough to torment his mind whenever he tried to figure things out.
He needs to strike; he needs to make his own preparations but more twisted than theirs while staying at a normal pace of time.
"If you're thinking you know the future, you must be a dimwit to think that. I can sense a certain filth from you; if they find out, they will know you're from a different world."
LDarlos knowledge was exceedingly higher than what he had learnet from his different world-line.
Meaning he had to change his plan. If Darlos knows his identity just like He said, Holy Palace will know too.
The other world-line Holy Palace must have known that he will travel into different world-lines.
But then what does Leon traveling have to do with them?
Darlos hands clasped, and with a serious tone, he said.
"By now you must have figured it out; they exist because of someone existing in every world-line and if that someone dies even in a single world, all of them will perish."
"Then hand over that black energy to me. It would remove the filth you're talking about."
Darlos burst into a loud cackle and said with a wide grin, "Finally we came to the same topic; tell me, Leon, your real intention was to obtain it but not to invite me to your side."
In return, Leon smirked and shook his head; there was no need to hide behind the bushes.
He knew of the purple aura radiating from his mind. It acted like a tracker, notifying Holy Palace when he comes in contact with them.
"The fate for you remains the same; you will ask me to bite you to death. Then tell me. Will you hand over the black energy or not?"
With his finger, Darlos tapped his temple many times. He was thinking. If death was his fate, then what could change it?
A paper materialized in the air, hovering beside Darlos face. It was a contract paper.
"Let's make a deal, shall we? Sign the contract; the black energy will be handed over to you, and in return, you will help me get back Manali, alive."
Leon's expression turned grave; it was a challenge.
"Let me tell you something, Darlos. There's nothing more twisted than fate and nothing as dark as death. You won't be escaping any of it."
What Leon said was the truth; Love is twisted, but fate is more twisted than love can ever be. When it comes to death, none has ever escaped.
Those who thought and imagined they could evade it. It was fate; they didn't escape, but it was rather their death hadn't come.
Fate plays with us; it makes us believe what it wants.
Even if Leon signs the contract and saves the woman, what will be for Darlos? Will he get the chance to live? Being sealed isn't better either.
Sealing meant forever death for Darlos.
The air softly came in and out of Darlos nose as he leaned back to the seat. Looking at the enormous ceiling.
"When you thought I was a coward who didn't want to leave his throne. You misunderstood the reason I didn't leave it. Something that carries the memories of the world for you is a wonderful companion. Its more than just a throne."
His voice is weak and sorrowful.
"You will learn it the hard way, Leon."
The paper moved forward, and a pen appeared in Leon's hand. He had to sign, and he did. When the paper work finished, the whole place morphed into a dungeon.
They were standing inside a tunnel.
The grunts of the monsters were echoing from one end. It was loud and akin to a dragon.
"If you want that power, then you will have to defeat the one who protects it. Go; I will wait for you."
Leon sword which was mysteriously stabbed in the ground, was taken out. Leon darted towards the darkness as the darkness encompassed his body.
Darlos watched him disappear and said, "I wonder if he can face the consequences of gaining that power."
