Chapter 26: The Giant In Chains
Myrym never was going to let her son go into it alone. She made sure of that from the moment the party began.
It was quite easy to slip several of the prison guards a few more drinks and even easier to get them to party and lose themselves until they were in a drunken stupor and could not do their jobs properly.
Her maids were helping with the party, after all.
She offered to take care of these guards, of course, as a gesture of goodwill. In actuality, she used them to take their armor and gear while they were being treated.
Myrym then had one of her maids dress up as her, making sure to have her be constantly busy so as to have no one get to that maid.
But just in case, she also told her key details of knowledge, especially pertaining to Forcas and Forenus, since those two would know her the most in this lot.
The Princess of Yuseff then took the disguise and, after her son started to deliver food to the prisoners, snuck into the facility with one of her butlers dressed up as the guard and with her inside one of the boxes said to contain food.
Now, she could not exactly get to the lower levels on normal orders. They had ten specialized guards for that purpose.
However, she made sure that Nasiah would not have enough food for everyone, so when he would get to Jaguar, he wouldn't have enough.
She had her butler pose as a guard delivering extra food for Nasiah in case it ever ran out. And if she were right, it was going to run out quite soon.
Nasiah on the other hand, was innocently opening the door to Jaguar's cell. A smile was on his face, contrasting that of the look of confusion that was on the giant's.
"You? Who are you, child? Why are you here?"
"Me? I'm Nasiah! The future king of this world! Well, if you want a more personal connection. I was the one who brought you here. The one that defeated you with Forcas."
Jaguar began to shake with furious anger as the chains that bound him started to rattle.
"Stand your ground, General Jaguar. The man is here to hand you your food." Jossel's voice echoed throughout the cells.
The general sneered. It was quite demeaning, being fed by the enemy who quite literally cut you to pieces. He's been holed up here for days without any signs of change.
Then, days passed by, and he was flabbergasted at his next-door cellmate, Jossel. The same man somehow defeated his own commanding officer. It was almost frightening.
Now, to see him here, just trying to feed him with the air of joy in his voice. He was sure he was mocking him.
Why did Jossel allow this? This was humiliating to both of them. This was unprecedented. This was not a fitting fate for him.
Nasiah, on the other hand, brought out all of the food left from the cart. He found that it was so little, so he went back up to find more, only to meet Myrym's butler as a guard.
He was about to ask why they were dressed like that, but quickly, the butler gave him the cart. "The top is for Jaguar, while the bottom is for Jossel."
Then he bowed and left with haste.
Nasiah realized that they probably had their own reasons and so took the cart to Jaguar first, unveiling mounds of roasted beef and boiled pork rendered with fat. "Wow, these look great! And it's all yours, isn't that wonderful?"
The general was a carnivore through and through, and while the sight softened his mind, his warrior spirit would still not accept this from his enemy.
"It would look better with your body upon it sprawling out and soaking in its blood!"
The boy did not even register it as a threat, tilting his head in wonder. "Well, I can't do that. The blood would ruin the food!"
"How dare you mock me. You will rue the day you did not kill me!"
Nasiah shook his head. "I would never think badly of that day. It was very fun to fight you, and one day, I would like to see you fight again, but this time for me."
He was being completely genuine. He hoped that Jaguar would understand that he, too, would one day simply be his general.
Jaguar scoffed. "Why would I ever fight for you?! You dare mock me further!"
He tried to move his body to rush at Nasiah, but his chains continued to hold him back.
"No, I'm not mocking you at all. I think you're a formidable warrior. Your regeneration was very tough until I found out how it worked. But in the future, we can work on that so that it can be even more powerful!"
Nasiah raised his arms up in joy, showering the general with his praise, leaving him in utter confusion.
"What… no, do not lie to me. Why would you do something like that? I am your enemy. Have you hit your head along the way?"
Jaguar was not one for subtlety nor complex emotional understanding. However, even he could sense the sincerity of the boy's voice, and yet it befuddled him even more.
There was no reason at all for him to promise that. Unless he was planning on actually taking him in to train.
"Because soon, I will have you be one of the generals of my great army as the king of the world!"
A few seconds of silence went by. A stunned and confused look on Jaguar's face just grew. "What? That… huh? You? The king of the world?"
Nasiah gave him a big nod while he crossed his arms. "You will be a general, and Jossel will be a knight. You both have great experience in those departments, and I see there is so much more potential for the both of you."
Jaguar once more, was completely stunned, unable to comprehend what was happening. Was this boy completely insane? The king of the world? Them working for the likes of him? It was all so many strange ideas at once that he simply stopped talking.
Nasiah understood that he needed time, so he stood up and ushered the cart to the next cell. "Think about it. I'll be back!"
He went out and returned to Jossel, placing the box in front of him. "Here's more of your food."
But before anyone could say anything more, Myrym sprung out of the box and stared her knight in the eyes, saying in a hushed tone:
"Greetings, Jossel Argon, my loyal knight."
