Star King Chronicles

Chapter 27: The Princess Plots

Nasiah was about to say something, his eyes sparkling with joy as he saw his mother pop out of the cart.

However, Myrym covered his mouth, placing a finger over her lips to signify silence as he nodded along.

She then moved to Jossel, who was unable to comprehend what had just occurred. Was this truly Myrym? His Prince's wife? The Princess? Why is she appearing before the enemy like this?

To showcase he had nothing to doubt, Myrym unveiled a pendant around her neck to Jossel, as it bore the insignia and design of House Yuseff.

It was carved to create a small barrier around her at all times to help with any attempt at her life. With it, he instantly knew that it truly was Myrym in front of him.

He bowed, revering her. Or rather he tried to, but thanks to his chains he was unable to bow properly.

Instinctively he tried to get in between Nasiah and Myrym, but once more failed due to his chains.

Myrym sighed. This was a big risk, he knew they did not have much time but she had to try something.

She was going to explain this all very carefully, and she needed Nasiah to keep quiet about how what would go on here.

"Jossel. I have managed to survive this camp with the help of Nasiah here. Soon, we will be able to escape and leave, but I need you to trust me on this."

She placed the pendant around her neck once more. "The Marquis will confirm if at least a large majority of the troops have been evacuated from Nahar. He, several of his men, and Nasiah will roam around the region to find any more outposts."

Myrym got this information by acting the part of the reluctant prisoner who quietly glares at everyone. It was good enough that she managed to sit in corners and listen in to others and observe them.

She also asked her son just to confirm anything more.

"This is also the time when I believe you will be transferred." The princess then crouched beside her son.

"They're being transferred in a few days, correct?" Nasiah gave her a quiet nod.

"That is when we shall strike. We have to make this as quiet as possible and rally the prisoners when the time is ready. They look up to you. Show them they are not broken."

She then turned to look at Nasiah. "Your army shall be ready soon. For now, they shall gather and form."

Myrym then grabbed a small pastry from the food pile, it was a simple peach-colored cookie. She broke it apart it revealed a thin piece of paper around it.

"We shall use these, special food that would help deliver messages, and Nasiah shall transport them around when he delivers the cart for your meals."

She commanded the room with such fervor. Gone was the look of pain and hatred on her face. It was a mask she used to fool those around her. Now it was replaced by the stare of true nobility, someone who many look up to.

"I shall be catering these messages and ensuring that at least one can be found out. Do you understand?"

Jossel nodded. He dared not to speak right now after all. This was his princess whom he should serve.

Of course, she would make a brilliant plan to help them all. But why did she have them all captured?

Myrym could tell what he was thinking. He gave it away with a quick glance at Nasiah. "We needed a way to build some modicum of trust. When we leave, we will be silent as we could when we return to Balthalem."

Peace, safety, and prosperity. That is what she needs for her to find the happiness she wants. Now she's with a child and can't just think for herself.

"It will all be okay. If it's not, I will simply command it to be. Now arise, Jossel, the guards might get suspicious of the silence, make some small talk, I shall send word soon."

With that, she gave him a quick bow and reentered into the cart to be hidden once again from the world.

It was a ballsy plan. But what other choice did they have? If they were going to escape, they would have to be as bold as possible.

If anything, she needed to do more. She needed to solidify their chance of escape as much as possible and not just rely on a few tricks.

Jossel looked at Nasiah, there was still a hint of skepticism in his eyes. After all, this still was the man who took out his men. But if the princess decreed it, he would need to follow.

Her husband was also one to make unorthodox moves. It was needed to control the combat and political battlefield after all.

Nasiah just smiled at him. It was so bright that Jossel had to avert his eyes from the sight itself. He had no idea why he kept on sparkling like that.

It was strangely comforting at times but it was quite unnerving to have him seemingly be perpetually happy.

They did as Myrym asked, making small talk before Nasiah had to leave before it got dark. The young boy waved Jossel goodbye and went out of the prison with a hum on his lip.

He was happy he was going to help everyone out. However, he did understand the situation he got himself in. If he was going to make this army, he would be going against the wishes and decree of Forenus.

While as saddening as this was, they would be independent entities by the time they would leave. He would make sure that as much as possible, no fights or invasions of such nature will happen while they leave.

Nasiah looked upon the sky and desired the best. For that is what he shall bring to this mission at hand.
