Chapter 193: Chapter 193: Yue Mu
The Frostmark Fleet, a veteran T5 fleet, was initially stunned by the 4,600 T5-grade interstellar missiles launched by the Storm Fleet. Defensive interceptors and rapid-fire weapons sprang into action without needing Yue Mu's orders. Typically, a Federation T5 fleet achieves around a 60% interception rate for such missile volleys, but the Frostmark Fleet excelled, intercepting about 68% of the missiles.
Despite this, with 4,600 missiles launched, roughly 1,500 still got through. The Frostmark Fleet, comprising around 400 ships, was drenched in this missile rain—each ship facing an average of three T5-grade interstellar missiles. Shields on some T5 warships were reduced by half, and the quasi-T5 ships suffered even worse, many having their shields shattered or nearly depleted.
Trailing this missile barrage came a torrent of fire from Storm Fleet's Annihilation Cannons and main artillery. With the Paladin-class Annihilation Battleship in their ranks, Storm Fleet was a force to be reckoned with. Each volley from the Paladin unleashed four Annihilation Cannons, twelve neutron guns, and twenty-four antimatter guns, devastating any target in its sights. Ten T5 warships were obliterated in a single wave, their wreckage even puncturing quasi-T5 ships like skewers.
Alongside the Paladin, the Storm God and ten Wolf-class T5 Destroyers added their firepower, inflicting heavy losses on the Frostmark Fleet, eliminating a tenth of their fleet in the initial strike. In contrast, Storm Fleet, facing only 2,000 T4 missiles, intercepted 80% of them, with the remaining 400 causing minimal damage.
However, the enemy laser cannons dealt substantial blows to the shields of the twenty T5 Sword Dragons leading the formation. Both fleets had now gauged each other's firepower, but neither was ready to retreat—their interstellar carriers had yet to engage. Orca's 1,100 combat drones took off to intercept the enemy's drones, setting the stage for an aerial battle.
Both fleets' Annihilation Cannons and primary weapons were cooling down, but missile ships had no such limitations.
"Launch the second missile barrage!"
Once more, Feng Mo's command was followed by a release of 4,600 T5-grade interstellar missiles, streaking toward the Frostmark Fleet. In response, Yue Mu ordered a counterstrike, though he knew it would be largely ineffective. With over forty of their ships lost in the first exchange, the Frostmark Fleet's interception rate fell, allowing nearly 2,000 T5 missiles to penetrate their defenses.
This second wave devastated the quasi-T5 ships, many now stripped of shields and unable to withstand the assault. Explosions tore through one ship after another, fire consuming the crews and triggering secondary detonations that left them as nothing more than shattered wrecks. Even the shields on the T5 ships had reached their breaking point, leaving the Frostmark Fleet exposed to Storm Fleet's onslaught.
From the start, Feng Mo had anticipated the outcome—this was a one-sided battle. The Storm Fleet, with its T5 Annihilation Battleship, T5 missile ships, T5 stealth bombers, and T5 interstellar carrier, was a powerhouse that a conventional fleet like the Frostmark could hardly withstand.
With the Frostmark Fleet teetering on the edge, Feng Mo received word from Mello: the four T5 Mystic Birds had completed their task of dismantling the Snow Eagle Starport's defenses and were positioned behind the Frostmark Fleet.
"Report, Lord Feng Mo. The four T5 Mystic Birds are in optimal striking position. Awaiting your command!" Mello's voice rang out in the Storm God's command center.
"Excellent. Empty the remaining missile stores on the T5 Mystic Birds and return."
"Yes, Lord!" Mello and her team swiftly directed the Mystic Birds' remaining missiles onto the Frostmark Fleet's exposed ships, unleashing a final bombardment before slipping back. Each of the four Mystic Birds launched about fifty missiles, totaling nearly two hundred. Their targets: the T5 Destroyers of the Frostmark Fleet. Each destroyer faced about ten missiles, and soon, the Frostmark's twenty T5 Destroyers were reduced to splinters.
Inside the Frostmark flagship's command center, Yue Mu's face was ashen as he gripped the command console. Watching the red indicators representing his ships vanish from the radar, a flicker of cold determination gleamed in his eyes.
With two saturation strikes, the Frostmark Fleet had lost a third of its ships, a toll too high for even the Moon Frost Empire to bear. His options narrowed; retreat was futile as the Storm Fleet would only hound them until every last ship was destroyed. Negotiation seemed his only recourse.
"Patch me through to the Storm God," Yue Mu ordered his lieutenant.
Just as Feng Mo was preparing for a third saturation strike, he received an incoming transmission from the enemy flagship. After a moment's thought, he accepted the call.
"Feng Mo," Yue Mu began, his tone cold and devoid of emotion, "I'm Yue Mu, commander of the Frostmark Fleet, of the Yue family from Tianqi. I am requesting this communication to negotiate a ceasefire."
His words were brisk, carrying no trace of submission. Feng Mo, however, recognized this demeanor; many skilled commanders operated without emotion, focused solely on results. And Yue Mu's surname piqued his curiosity—something clicked in Feng Mo's mind.
"The Yue family… Moon Frost Empire… Yue Xiaomeng? How is she related to you?" Feng Mo inquired, curiosity slipping into his voice.
A faint smile played across Yue Mu's lips before vanishing as he replied icily, "I am Yue Xiaomeng's uncle. Her father, Yue Lei, is my younger brother."
With this, Feng Mo finally understood. No wonder the Central Zone empires had been so quiet—Tianqi Empire had already moved in the shadows
