Chapter 196: Chapter 196: Rescue Signal
Feng Mo returned alone to his newly established manor on Snow Eagle Prime, his temporary residence. Lately, he had been so busy that he barely had time to check the Spark System's mission panel. Since taking down the Snow Eagle Empire, the mission panel had updated, marking all tasks as complete.
[Mission: Replace the Snow Eagle Empire and join the Federation's seventeen major empires. (Completed) Reward: T5 Black Star Combat Armor Upgrade Blueprint, Level-4 Perfect Genetic Serum]
[Temporary Mission: Conquer the Windmill System, Auckland System, and Snow Eagle System. (Completed) Reward: 10,000 points, T5 Blue Whale-Class Interstellar Fortress Blueprint]
Feng Mo clicked to claim his rewards.
[Reward claimed: Received T5 Black Star Combat Armor Upgrade Blueprint ×1, Level-4 Perfect Genetic Serum ×1 (Feng Mo version), 10,000 points, T5 Blue Whale-Class Interstellar Fortress Blueprint ×1]
The necessary materials for the T5 Black Star Combat Armor were still in stock within the Storm Empire, and he could even begin upgrades for the combat armor used by the three women in his inner circle. However, Feng Mo himself had not yet reached the peak of a level-three genetic warrior, so he couldn't yet use the Level-4 Perfect Genetic Serum. As for the T5 Blue Whale-Class Interstellar Fortress, now wasn't the time for construction.
Building such a colossal fortress required an immense amount of resources; a T5-class interstellar fortress dwarfed two or three large life-supporting planets in scale. Even the entire Federation, with the combined resources of its seventeen major empires, had only managed to construct three of them. The resources within the Storm Empire alone couldn't possibly meet the requirements for such a project, so he had to shelve it for the time being.
However, the 10,000 points he received could be put to immediate use. The Storm Empire's current interstellar transport ships were still only T4-level, and now he could use those points to upgrade to a T5 Yak-Class Interstellar Cargo Ship.
Browsing the Spark System store, Feng Mo found over a dozen T5 transport ships, each with distinct features. After a quick review, he redeemed a T5-class interstellar transport ship with the following specs:
T5 Yak-Class Interstellar Cargo Ship:
Armor Strength: 2,000 units
Hull Data: 10 km × 2.4 km × 1.9 km
Speed: 300 star knots
Warp Engine: Level 5
Shield Energy: Level 5, 100%
Weapons: T5 Close Defense Laser Cannons ×240
This cargo ship's greatest advantage was its massive capacity, coupled with a decent speed. With over 240 close-defense cannons, it also had some defensive capabilities. After reviewing the specs, Feng Mo stored the design in the Hurricane Prime's underground storage facility, instructing Alisa to analyze it thoroughly before starting production. Given the empire's expanding territory, he estimated the initial batch would need around ten ships.
The Next Morning
For a change, Feng Mo woke up late. The unrelenting stream of events had kept him constantly moving forward and getting stronger, but it was undeniably exhausting.
After getting dressed, he heard Little Y's voice:
"Respected Lord, your secretary Han Peipei is waiting outside. Shall I let her in?"
Feng Mo settled into the dining room and started on the breakfast Little Y had prepared. "Let her in. She likely has something important to report in person."
Han Peipei usually arrived early, waiting patiently at the office to brief Feng Mo on the day's schedule and key issues. Understanding Feng Mo's private life, she seldom visited his residence unless there was something urgent that required face-to-face discussion.
True to his assumption, the moment Little Y brought Han Peipei in, she began, "Lord, the radar station in the Beast Roar System intercepted a distress signal from deep space. The sender identified themselves as Star Spirits, requesting assistance and providing coordinates."
She then transferred the translated signal's content to Feng Mo's terminal. After scanning it, he looked up.
"What are your thoughts on this?"
Han Peipei, pleased to be asked, had moved from observing to active involvement in decision-making, a step closer to commanding her own fleet someday.
"Lord, the Star Spirit race is documented in the Federation's database. Their civilization is reputedly more advanced than ours and is inherently peaceful. I believe we should help them."
After a brief silence, Feng Mo replied, "Consider this: Star Spirit civilization is at least one level above the Federation. Could that mean this Star Spirit is facing an enemy potentially T6-level or higher? Knowing that, would you still recommend the rescue?"
Realizing the implications, Han Peipei shook her head. Feng Mo then issued his orders.
"Alert Snow Eagle Starport: prepare the Storm God, the Paladin, and one interstellar supply ship for departure. Inform Ai Er that she will have full authority over Storm Empire affairs during my absence."
Feng Mo had chosen to proceed because the Spark System mission panel had issued new tasks, including both a main and a temporary mission, each with substantial rewards.
Typically, the Spark System's missions were designed to be within Feng Mo's abilities—challenging yet achievable. Thus, he felt confident enough to take on the rescue operation.
[Mission: Consolidate the Frostsnow Domain by conquering the Radiant Empire and Cloud Dream Empire. Reward: 10,000 points, T6 Vermilion Ape-Class Interstellar Battleship Blueprint]
[Temporary Mission: Repel the Mechanical Legion's warships and rescue the Star Spirit. Reward: T5 Fleet Steed-Class Interstellar Warp Ship]
Both missions offered impressive rewards. The main mission was especially daunting, with the Cloud Dream Empire alone fielding two T5 fleets, nearly 800 T5 and quasi-T5 starships, and several special vessels. Nevertheless, Feng Mo felt capable of capturing them.
The Radiant Empire, however, posed a greater challenge with three T5 fleets, over 1,100 T5 and quasi-T5 starships, and support from the Apocalypse Moon Clan. Feng Mo anticipated that if the Radiant Empire fully mobilized, they could deploy at least five fleets.
Even if Feng Mo aligned with Federation forces for a united assault on the Frostsnow Alliance, victory was far from assured. If they won, it would likely be a pyrrhic victory. Furthermore, in such a decisive battle, the Apocalypse Moon Clan would undoubtedly unleash special starships, including the Federation's T5 missile ship and newly developed stealth bombers.
