Starsea Fleet: Age of the Lord

Chapter 201: Chapter 201: Return Voyage

Seated before Feng Mo was none other than Princess Xing Shuwen, a ninth princess from the Star Spirit lineage ruling the Tianque Domain—a branch of a great power that unified an entire large domain. For Feng Mo, someone of her stature was a rare and valuable ally.

In the cosmic hierarchy, influence extended from single planets to star systems, minor and major domains, and beyond, into the vast star realms. Small domains, also called star clusters, comprised multiple star systems, while large domains, or superclusters, encompassed thousands. The Starsea Human Federation, with its origins in two minor domains, paled compared to the thousand-star-system strong Tianque Domain, making Feng Mo wonder just how advanced the Star Spirit civilization truly was.

His curiosity, tempered by caution, surfaced as he asked, "Your Highness, could you share why you came here, how you were captured, and where you wish to return?"

Princess Xing Shuwen responded with a solemn tone, "After my father passed, my siblings began vying for the throne. Among us nine, survival hinges on eliminating the weaker competitors, be it through alliances, deceit, or outright betrayal. I, unfortunately, was framed and exiled, eventually discovered by these mechanical forces who held me captive here."

She paused, then continued, "I have heard of the Starsea Federation—a level-five civilization supposedly nearing level six. If you can assist me in reclaiming the throne, I can ensure that the Federation advances to a level-seven civilization under my reign."

Her words carried a heavy weight, leaving Feng Mo conflicted. To support her would entangle him in a treacherous royal struggle—tempting yet dangerous. After a moment's reflection, he tactfully replied, "Your Highness, the Starsea Federation is currently fractured, with a number of its empires declaring independence. The Federation itself teeters on collapse and lacks the strength for such a task."

Princess Xing Shuwen fell silent, processing his words, then asked, "And you, Lord of the Storm Empire? Could you aid me? I can offer a T6 energy core as payment, along with knowledge of a T7 core's location. If you help me ascend to the throne, I promise that the Storm Empire's ruler shall be my consort in the Star Spirit Empire, a level-seven civilization. I offer myself as part of the bargain, should you agree to lend your empire's strength."

Her gaze was fixed intently on Feng Mo, whose thoughts raced. At that very moment, his Ember System displayed a new temporary mission:

> Temporary Mission: Support Xing Shuwen in her ascension to the throne of the Star Spirit Empire. Reward: T7 Qiongqi-Class Star Battleship blueprint, T7 Huiyue-Class Interstellar Gateway blueprint.

Feng Mo felt his heart quicken, enticed not only by her terms but by the substantial rewards. Yet the Storm Empire was in no position to contend with a civilization of the Star Spirit Empire's magnitude—it was like throwing an egg at a rock.

"Your Highness, I can commit to assisting you, but the Storm Empire's current power is insufficient, so I will need time to prepare. Do you understand?" he said carefully.

Her face lit up with newfound hope, and she replied earnestly, "I understand. I'm not ungrateful. If you are sincere in your support, I will honor every promise I've made. Our royal bloodline has the ability to read certain information about others—I can sense you're a third-level gene warrior, barely thirty years old, and already the leader of a level-five civilization. You're a remarkable gamble, and one I'm willing to take."

Feng Mo couldn't help but be impressed by her insight. Now he understood why she had been so candid with him from the outset. She was adept at reading people and betting on promising prospects.

"Your Highness," he said, his tone respectful, "with your knowledge, would you consider taking a position within the Storm Fleet?"

Xing Shuwen moved closer, her voice a whisper in his ear, "Lord Feng Mo, nothing would please me more. And here's a secret for you: the Star Spirit's royal bloodline has an ability that can be shared with one's partner. If you're interested, you can gain my ability—so long as you take me as your wife. But please, don't use force!"

She smiled playfully, watching for his reaction. Feng Mo was astounded; her ability seemed to extend beyond simple detection. Could she also read minds?

Feng Mo grasped her meaning clearly. If he forced her into submission, it would trigger relentless retaliation from her people. While inner conflict among royals was common, the Star Spirit Empire would avenge any foreign interference once a new ruler took the throne.

His other option was that Xing Shuwen truly believed in her own value and potential, willing to wager on herself with calm confidence. She was an intriguing puzzle, one he couldn't fully decipher.

"Peipei, please escort Princess Shuwen to a guest chamber," he instructed his aide, Han Peipei, keeping his composure even as Xing Shuwen's playful teasing threatened to unsettle him.

Xing Shuwen, noting his resolve, found him even more intriguing. He was a man who resisted temptation, only strengthening her resolve to invest in him. With a graceful motion, she lowered her uniform slightly, revealing her smooth, alabaster skin, and gently touched the pendant resting near her collarbone.

A small, lead-lined box appeared in her hand. Setting it down, she said, "Inside is the T6 energy core, your first reward. And this pendant—crafted through spatial-folding technology—hints at the secrets awaiting you once you reach a level-seven civilization."

As if reading his unspoken questions, she gestured to the pendant and added, "When the time comes, you'll understand its significance."
