Starsea Fleet: Age of the Lord

Chapter 207: Chapter 207: The Movements of the First Fleet

To locate the Mechanical Clan's First Fleet, Feng Mo deployed five newly constructed T5 Mystic Birds, setting out from the Selene System and following leads based on Chen Wei's information, extending the search even further.

News of the destruction of the Second and Third Mechanical Fleets had already spread throughout the Starsea Human Federation, so it was impossible that the Mechanical Clan remained unaware. Feng Mo prepared by fortifying his defenses while his ships scouted for the First Fleet's location.

Time passed slowly until, after seven days, one of the T5 Mystic Birds transmitted a video. The footage showed a desolate star system with a Mechanical Clan fleet surrounding a massive planet. On the planet's surface, countless Mechanical beings were gathered around an enormous, ancient tree, seemingly entranced.

"Finally found you," Feng Mo muttered. "So, this is what the Mechanical Clan was after when they sent three T5 fleets to this chaotic region."

Feng Mo captured an image of the towering tree and sent it to Professor Luo. Not long after, he received a reply stating that Professor Luo had never seen this type of interstellar plant before and inquired about its location.

Feng Mo replied that it was located in the depths of the chaotic region, promising to retrieve it for study. After arranging this with Professor Luo, Feng Mo turned to his ever-loyal Han Peipei, who stood at attention behind him, and said:

"Inform Ai Er to command the Orca, along with one T5 Pegasus, two T5 Mystic Birds, ten T5 Wolf Kings, and twenty T5 Sword Dragons to guard our territories. The remaining Storm Fleet will accompany me to engage the First Mechanical Fleet."

This expedition was nearly three-quarters of the Storm Fleet's power, including eight T5 Mystic Birds, four T5 Pegasi, and the Saint Knight. Just these specialized ships alone, with a single barrage, could crush any fleet in the Federation without T6 ships.

Of course, maintaining such a large fleet put immense pressure on the Storm Empire's finances and resources. Aside from the Snowhawk System, the empire had no other source of T5-grade materials, leaving Feng Mo's stockpile dangerously low. Without external support, even constructing interstellar missiles would have strained resources.

To put it plainly, the Storm Empire's current supply of T5-grade missiles of all types totaled barely over fifty thousand. With ten T5 Mystic Birds and five T5 Pegasi, a single round of fire consumed nineteen thousand missiles, meaning just three rounds would deplete their entire stock.

Construction was also time-consuming, even when resources were available.

At dawn the next day, Feng Mo arrived early at the Snowhawk Spaceport. For this expedition, he brought along forty thousand T5-grade interstellar missiles, nearly emptying his reserves, realizing he needed to push Alisa to balance missile production with shipbuilding.

His recent interactions with Xing Shuwen had grown warmer, but he kept a polite distance, cautious of her unique abilities. Xing Shuwen seemed to notice this and reduced her probing, allowing Feng Mo to breathe easier. Even so, in their discussions, Feng Mo gathered valuable insights, including information on the massive tree.

The tree was a T6-grade interstellar entity known as the "Humanoid Tree." It had mystical properties highly valued by the Mechanical Clan. Once fully mature, it transformed into a mound of yellow soil while preserving a humanoid core, which could then serve as a vessel for the consciousness of the Mechanical Clan, effectively creating a human form from the core.

This mystical transformation was an incredibly rare process, and a T6 Humanoid Tree could fetch a price of over a hundred billion star credits if sold to the Mechanical Clan. No wonder they had sent three T5 fleets in search of it.

Upon learning this, Feng Mo marveled at the universe's wonders. The tree reminded him of mythical treasures from his past life's novels, capable of regenerating bodies.

This time, Feng Mo made sure to bring along the T5 Fleet Steed-class jump ship, eager to test its capabilities. Thanks to the coordinates transmitted by the T5 Mystic Bird, they had a precise location to target.

As the fleet assembled in the Snowhawk Spaceport, they refrained from warp travel, opting for a standard course until reaching open space near the port.

"Lord, the T5 Fleet Steed-class jump ship is ready for deployment. The jump space, coordinates, and core energy are stable, and we can initiate the interstellar jump at any time," Han Peipei reported from behind him.

Feng Mo turned to the half-beast captain displayed on his monitor and ordered, "Open the interstellar jump gate. Storm Fleet, prepare for jump!"

As he spoke, the Fleet Steed began emitting a powerful energy matrix, with beams of dazzling blue light forming a colossal star gate in the cosmos. The energy matrix on the Fleet Steed faded, but the star gate remained, marking the path for the fleet's journey.

"Lord, the gate will remain open for thirty minutes," Han Peipei reminded.

"Let's move out!"

At Feng Mo's command, one by one, the ships entered the micro-jump gate, vanishing into the interstellar distance. After the last ship passed through, the gate lingered for about fifteen more minutes before dissipating in a shower of energy sparks.

In an uncharted star system filled with asteroid debris, a fleet of over a hundred ships materialized from the depths of space—the Storm Fleet, fresh from its jump through the micro-jump gate.

As Feng Mo's fleet settled into the system, the sensation of the jump had felt similar to using a conventional star gate: a momentary loss of gravity before arrival.

Pleased with the jump's success, Feng Mo chuckled as he glanced at the Fleet Steed on his radar, as thrilled as a child with a new toy. The jump was costly, consuming half the energy reserves of a T5 resupply ship per jump, but he could afford it.

Rather than jumping directly into the middle of the enemy fleet, Feng Mo had ordered the jump to the furthest possible coordinates for safety. Now, he would put his strategy to the test.

"Storm God, Saint Knight, Wolf Kings, Sword Dragons: charge up main cannons and secondary batteries. Pegasus units: prepare the missile barrage. Mystic Birds, free to engage."

As the Storm Fleet's ships lit up with charged weapons, Feng Mo issued the next order:

"Fleet Steed, reopen the jump gate. Storm Fleet, enter the jump gate!"
