Chapter 388: Chapter 389: Spider-Man and Thor
Faced with this situation, Tohru found himself momentarily unable to interrupt Barry Allen's attack. Although Tohru was a battle-hardened veteran, he had never encountered someone with such speed before. This fighting style was something Tohru found hard to adapt to, especially under such intense pressure...
Tohru quickly noticed that Barry Allen's combat skills were not top-notch. However, as the saying goes, a single trick can take you far. Barry Allen's speed far surpassed Tohru's, allowing him to suppress Tohru even with less refined combat techniques.
Fortunately, Tohru wasn't alone. The animal warriors, seeing their leader struggling on the ground, quickly came to their senses and rushed to his aid. Even though these warriors were not as strong as Tohru and also struggled to keep up with Barry Allen's speed, they had numbers on their side. By narrowing the fighting range, they aimed to restrict Barry Allen's movements.
"Hmm?" Barry Allen quickly noticed this change and frowned. In such a small space, he could still maneuver, but not as effectively as in a larger area.
Barry Allen did not push his advantage. Instead, he flashed out of the encirclement and returned to Peter Parker's side.
Tohru, finally getting a chance to breathe, scrambled up from the ground, his eyes flashing with anger. Wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, he glared at Barry Allen and said, "Very good, very fast. If your strength were greater, I wouldn't stand a chance against you!"
"Like you stand a chance now," Barry Allen scoffed. "If you have the guts, tell your minions to back off and see if I don't beat you to a pulp!"
From their brief exchange, Barry Allen understood Tohru's strength. If Tohru weren't powerful enough, Barry Allen's barrage of attacks would have already killed him. But Barry Allen wasn't afraid of Tohru. Underestimating an opponent, even mocking them, could be strategic to pressure and anger them.
"Fine, you all back off, let's go again!" Tohru took a deep breath and commanded his warriors to step aside.
"Huh? Really going again?" Barry Allen was taken aback, as were the animal warriors, who looked at Tohru in confusion. Despite their bewilderment, they quickly obeyed and gave Tohru and Barry Allen enough space to fight.
"Swish!" Barry Allen wasn't worried about any traps because his speed far outstripped that of the animal warriors. Even if they attacked suddenly, he was confident in his ability to evade.
"Bang!" In a flash, Barry Allen appeared in front of Tohru and punched him in the chest. His fist met no resistance as it struck Tohru. But then, Tohru's body suddenly contracted, his chest muscles absorbing the force of Barry Allen's punch like cotton.
"Hmm?!" Barry Allen immediately sensed something was wrong. He didn't understand what ability Tohru was using, but instinctively he tried to retreat. However, Tohru seized the opportunity, grabbing Barry Allen's arm tightly and locking it in place.
At the same time, Tohru punched toward Barry Allen's head, aiming for his nose in retaliation. Yet, Barry Allen managed to dodge the blow, moving his head out of the way just in time. Though his arm was trapped, his body and head were still free.
"Hmm?" Tohru frowned as his punch missed. He tightened his grip on Barry Allen's arm, trying to pull him closer for another strike. But just then, Tohru felt a tremendous force from Barry Allen's arm. Tohru's body was suddenly dragged along as Barry Allen began to run at high speed, everything around Tohru blurring into afterimages.
Yes, Tohru was being taken along in Barry Allen's high-speed movement. Though he had a grip on Barry Allen, Barry's legs were unrestricted, allowing him to maintain his extraordinary speed. At such speed, even a martial arts expert like Tohru struggled to adapt, his body losing balance and unable to find an opportunity to counterattack.
Tohru had two choices: try to match Barry Allen's speed or let go and risk being flung away by inertia. But Tohru was reluctant to release his grip; having caught Barry Allen was no small feat. If he let go now, capturing a wary Barry Allen again would be much harder.
"You won't let go?" Barry Allen was surprised by Tohru's tenacity. Angered, Barry Allen increased his speed, determined to see how long Tohru could hold on at such extreme velocity.
Barry Allen considered throwing Tohru off, but Tohru's grip was painfully tight, making it difficult. Barry decided to wait until his speed reached its peak and Tohru's reactions slowed before exacting his revenge.
"Roar?!" As Tohru and Barry Allen vanished, the animal warriors were left stunned. Moments ago, it seemed their leader had the upper hand, but now he was gone. Unable to see where Tohru had gone, they were at a loss.
"Roar!" One animal warrior quickly regained focus, noting that Peter Parker was still nearby. If they couldn't handle Barry Allen, they could at least capture Peter Parker!
The animal warriors didn't know what Peter Parker was currently dealing with. Peter had been able to talk with Barry Allen earlier, but now Mjolnir's power seemed increasingly uncontrollable. With Mjolnir still in his grip, Peter's body felt almost paralyzed, explaining his inaction during Barry Allen's fight with Tohru.
Neither the animal warriors nor Barry Allen knew of Peter Parker's condition. If Barry Allen had known, he wouldn't have taken Tohru and run off alone.
"Bang!" As the animal warriors communicated, the first warrior punched Peter Parker, sending him flying. But simultaneously, a powerful surge of lightning from Peter's body struck the warrior, turning him into a charred corpse instantly.
"Zzzzt!" With the surge of lightning, the animal warrior's body turned to charcoal, more severely charred than by fire.
"Roar?!" Initially happy to see their comrade land a blow on Peter, the animal warriors were horrified to witness his instant death. They were confused and terrified.
"Zzzzt!" Meanwhile, Peter Parker, thrown by the punch, was also coursing with lightning. However, his condition was improving. Perhaps due to the presence of enemies, Mjolnir's power began to stabilize, allowing Peter to regain his mobility.
"What's happening?" Peter muttered, looking at Mjolnir in his hand. He didn't dwell on it; with so many animal warriors around, he needed to act before Mjolnir lost control again.
"Zzzzt!" Without hesitation, Peter unleashed Mjolnir's lightning on the animal warriors below.
Peter had a premonition that he might not wield Mjolnir for long. Thus, he decided to make the most of it in this battle.
"Boom!" The sky lit up with lightning, more brilliant than a storm. To Peter, the scene was spectacular, but to the animal warriors, it was a terrifying disaster.
Even with their superhuman abilities, the warriors couldn't withstand Mjolnir's full power. Despite their resistance, their inherent weaknesses were exposed. They either turned to charred husks or dried-out corpses, falling one by one.
"What's happening?!" Inside the Hydra base, soldiers monitoring the situation were bewildered. Tohru had vanished, and the animal warriors were being decimated by lightning. A complete defeat seemed inevitable.
The Hydra soldiers tried contacting Tohru, who received the messages but couldn't respond due to the high-speed chase.
After some deliberation, the Hydra soldiers made a decision: retreat. Their lives were at stake, and the enemy was formidable. Staying would only lead to confrontation.
This Hydra soldier had infiltrated the base and saw an opportunity to seize control. If he could evacuate with Tohru's resources and soldiers, his position could be solidified. Otherwise, he could return to his original allegiance with valuable information.
"Thor must stay behind to cover our retreat," the Hydra soldier thought, considering Thor's strength essential for their escape. He quickly issued orders in Tohru's name, coordinating the retreat.
Thor received his orders and moved toward Peter Parker. At that moment, Mjolnir's power within Peter vanished, but by then, the animal warriors were already dealt with...
