Chapter 389: Chapter 390: The Disappeared Tohru and the Darkness
"Who are you?! How dare you kill so many of my comrades? The hammer in your hand looks so familiar..." This was the first thing Thor said upon seeing Peter Parker, and it was these words that caused the previously dormant Mjolnir to suddenly react!
"Zzzzzz!" Thunderous power continuously erupted from Peter Parker's body. Mjolnir seemed to want to escape from Peter Parker's hand but did not harm him.
Moreover, Peter Parker could also feel that Mjolnir had not completely abandoned him. Instead, it was in a state of near-departure, where Peter Parker and Mjolnir were barely connected by a thread. This thread allowed Peter Parker to still hold onto Mjolnir, but its power, though leaking, could no longer be wielded by him.
"What's going on?" Peter Parker frowned in confusion but could guess that the current anomaly with Mjolnir was directly related to Thor, even suspecting Thor's identity.
"Thor, the God of Thunder?" Peter Parker raised an eyebrow, looked at Mjolnir in his hand, and then abruptly threw it away.
"If you're not going to work for me and want to find your original master, then go ahead!"
Mjolnir flew through the air at high speed. Even though Peter Parker could no longer use its power, he sensed that Mjolnir seemed very excited.
"Buzz!" However, halfway through its flight, Mjolnir suddenly stopped, suspended in mid-air, its body trembling slightly as if hesitating.
"A familiar hammer? It feels like it's connected to my bloodline. Is this my hammer? Then why is it in someone else's hand? Could he also be a god of Asgard?" Thor's eyes flickered as he looked at the hammer floating in mid-air, not far from him. He felt his body also tremble slightly, a warm current flowing through him.
Faced with this feeling, Thor hesitantly reached out toward Mjolnir.
But as soon as Thor extended his hand, Mjolnir immediately fell to the ground, losing all its motion and becoming an ordinary hammer, devoid of any divine power.
"What's going on?" Both Peter Parker and Thor were stunned by this sight. They were at a loss, staring at the fallen Mjolnir in confusion.
Especially since Peter Parker had lost all connection with Mjolnir, and Thor also felt the bloodline connection cut off, as if everything that had just happened was an illusion.
Peter Parker and Thor did not know that Mjolnir's issue was related to a new spell set by Odin. Before Thor fully awakened, he was not eligible to lift Mjolnir. However, Mjolnir sensed Thor's interest in other weapons and, against all odds, brought Peter Parker here to return to Thor's hand.
The problem was that Thor still couldn't lift Mjolnir. Even if it returned to Thor, it couldn't restore his divine power. If Thor, who was unqualified, tried to lift it, he might even be crushed.
That's why Mjolnir fell when Thor reached out. It knew he couldn't wield it yet.
As for why Mjolnir didn't return to Peter Parker, it was obvious. If it returned, Peter Parker would use it against Thor. Mjolnir didn't want that, so it concealed its power and played dead.
"Whatever. You killed so many of my comrades, I'll deal with you first!" Thor glared at Peter Parker, his eyes cold.
"Your comrades? If you're Thor, why would you recognize a group of Hydra agents as comrades?" Peter Parker frowned. Without Mjolnir, his power dropped significantly. He couldn't understand why Thor, an Asgardian prince, was working for Earth's villains.
"Boom!" Suddenly, Thor kicked off the ground, disappearing in a flash, moving even faster than Tohru!
"Swish!" The next moment, Thor appeared before Peter Parker, throwing a punch, which Peter Parker easily dodged. Thor frowned, continuously changing his attacks, but Peter Parker evaded every move.
"Mm?!" Thor was puzzled. Peter Parker's speed wasn't superior, nor were his combat skills better, but he seemed to anticipate every move, nullifying each attack.
Thor tried to change his tactics, using feints, but failed. Peter Parker could discern real attacks from fakes.
This battle style frustrated Thor, especially as he had no weapon. His battle-axe wasn't with him, left behind by Hydra soldiers who didn't want to waste resources on Thor, their disposable pawn.
Thor, fighting empty-handed, couldn't touch Peter Parker. Despite his strength, he saw no chance to land a hit.
Peter Parker, meanwhile, was also troubled. Without Mjolnir, his power was severely reduced. Only his spider-sense, a nearly cheat-level ability, allowed him to keep up with Thor.
But it wasn't enough to defeat Thor. Peter Parker needed Mjolnir back and usable against Thor.
Peter Parker didn't plan to use his thunder power. Without Mjolnir, it wasn't strong. Plus, he guessed Thor was immune to it, like how Johnny Storm could resist weaker fire attacks.
So, the fight reached a stalemate. Thor found Peter Parker's spider-sense annoying, and Peter Parker saw no way to win.
Meanwhile, Barry Allen pushed his speed to the limit. Despite Tohru's strength, Tohru's mind was fuzzy, grip loosening.
"Opportunity!" Barry seized the moment. Before them appeared a mountain, just as Barry planned. He threw Tohru with great force and speed.
"Boom!" Tohru crashed into the mountain, buried under rubble, disappearing from sight.
"Hmm? No movement?" Barry saw the dust settle, puzzled. He approached the mountain to check.
In the rubble, he searched but found no sign of Tohru. This confused Barry even more.
"Crushed to pieces? No way. From our fight, this move could hurt but not kill him. And there's no blood. Where did he go?" Barry wondered, growing more confused.
"Does he have some special ability? Like invisibility or teleportation? But why not use it before? And why not ambush me now?"
Barry spoke loudly, perhaps hoping Tohru would hear. But nothing stirred.
The mountain was damaged but intact, only a large hole in the middle. After searching, Barry reluctantly decided to leave. Peter Parker still had enemies to face.
"Swish!" Barry disappeared, then quickly returned, finding the scene unchanged. With a sigh, he left for good.
Unseen by Barry, in a dark corner of the mountain hole, shadows hid Tohru. The darkness blended perfectly, even without light sources.
Had Batman, Robert, or Tony Stark seen this darkness, they would recognize it as the power of the dark space from the mask.
In the dark space within the mask, Tohru floated, injured but not fatally. His body trembled not from his wounds but from the mask trying to control him. The mask seized this opportunity, possibly its only one.
"What is this?!" Barry soon returned to the battle between Peter Parker and Thor, immediately noticing Peter's weakened state.
"Hmm? Mjolnir? Why is it on the ground?" Barry quickly saw the inert hammer and, recalling its earlier strangeness, frowned and looked at Thor.
Thor, noticing Barry's return, grew vigilant. He threw a punch at Peter Parker, missing again. Throughout their fight, neither had inflicted any damage, a bizarre outcome.
Thor retreated after his punch missed, realizing defeating Peter Parker wouldn't be easy with his current speed and strength.
The crucial factor was Barry's return. Thor's leader, Tohru, was missing, and Thor needed a way to turn the tide. He thought of Mjolnir as his solution.
