Supernatural Lovers: The revenge

Chapter 5: Bravery

As I opened the file, my eyes landed on the first page, where a single picture of her was attached. I was taken aback by her delicate features and the perfect shape of her nose. Her face seemed chiseled for the role of a Luna, and I found myself mesmerized by her beauty.

My body seemed frozen, refusing to respond to my brain's command to flip to the next page. I was captivated by her picture, noticing the subtle confidence in her posture, which didn't quite match the demeanor of a servant. Her speech, too, seemed too refined for someone in her position.

The sound of my beta's discreet cough broke the spell, and I looked up to see him waiting to be dismissed. I nodded, and he departed, leaving me to continue reading.

As I delved deeper into the file, I discovered her name was Haven, and she was only 18 years old. Interestingly, it seemed she worked at a bar on occasion. My curiosity was piqued – how did she end up working at a bar and as a servant the pack house at the same time?

I continued reading, devouring every detail about Haven. However, I was surprised to find that there was no mention of her parents or family.

As I read on, I came across a section that caught my attention. It seemed that Haven had only been involved in a single physical altercation during her time working at the bar. This surprised me, as it suggested that she wasn't the type to pick fights or engage in aggressive behavior, unlike some of the other servants.

As I sat there, engrossed in the file, I didn't even realize that a subtle smile had begun to spread across my face. It was as if my subconscious was already forming a connection with this mysterious woman, Haven. But as I delved deeper into the report, one particular detail caught my attention and piqued my curiosity. What could have prompted her to engage in a physical altercation with someone at the bar? Was she a fiercely protective person, or had someone pushed her to her limits? The more I thought about it, the more I became invested in uncovering the story behind that incident. What had driven her to fight, and how did she manage to contain herself in the face of adversity? The questions swirled in my mind, and I found myself wanting to know more about this enigmatic woman and the experiences that had shaped her into the person she was today.

I picked up the phone and dialed my beta's number, my mind still preoccupied with the mysterious incident at the bar. When he answered, I instructed him to investigate the bar and gather more information about the altercation involving Haven. "I want to know everything," I emphasized, my curiosity getting the better of me. "Find out what triggered the fight, who was involved, and what the outcome was. I need to understand what happened." With my instructions clear, I hung up the phone, eagerly awaiting my beta's findings.

Sleep had become an afterthought, a luxury I couldn't afford, not when I had a mystery to unravel. I found myself pacing restlessly, my mind racing with possibilities. I sat down, but couldn't stay still, getting up to walk to the balcony, where I gazed out into the night, lost in thought. I wandered back inside, lying down on the bed, but my eyes remained wide open, my brain refusing to shut off. I got up again, this time standing by the window, staring out into the darkness, willing the hours to pass quickly. I was waiting for results, waiting for my beta to uncover the truth about Haven and the incident at the bar. The silence was oppressive, and I found myself checking my watch for what felt like the hundredth time, willing the minutes to tick by faster.

The wait had been agonizing, but finally, after what felt like an eternity, my phone rang, shrill in the silence. I answered, and Jaxon's voice came through, crisp and clear. "Alpha, I've secured the information you requested," he said, his tone professional. I felt a surge of anticipation, my heart rate quickening. "Should I come to your quarters to deliver the report, or would you prefer I share it with you over the phone?" he asked. I hesitated for a moment, weighing my options. If Jaxon came to my quarters, it would take him at least 20 minutes to get here, and then we'd have to go through the formalities of a face-to-face meeting. Time was of the essence, and I was impatient to get to the bottom of the mystery. "Just tell me," I said finally, my voice firm. "Share the information with me over the phone."

As I hung up the phone, the weight of Jaxon's words settled in, and I felt a mix of emotions swirling inside me. The bar, which I had initially thought was just a mundane place of employment, had actually been a hub of danger and violence for Haven. My heart sank as I realized she had been subjected to abuse, her safety and well-being threatened by the very people she was supposed to serve. But as the details of the incident sank in, my emotions shifted from concern to pride. Haven, my potential Luna, had shown remarkable strength and resilience in the face of adversity. She had defended herself against her attacker, using a bottle to inflict serious injuries on him, leaving him with scars. I felt a surge of admiration for her bravery and resourcefulness.
