Chapter 19: 19: Back
After Ben had pummeled it, he looked at its body, it was his fragments of bone and teeth in a puddle of blood. He then looked up and saw the glass cases in which the books were kept.
...
"So 150 people just vanished, and you're telling me there's some night stalking demon snatching people up. You must think I'm some sort of Superman. It's flattering, miss, but unless you want to pay me, then I ain't doing nothing." A tall guy said. He was tall, with dark skin and messy, unkempt hair.
"Oh come on. People started disappearing over a year ago, you're the only one strong enough. There's only 1,261 left, it's just going to keep taking and taking until there's no one else." The girl was curvy and attractive with short brunette hair and armour around her chest and thighs. It was clear she was a high-ranking military official, a captain maybe?
Dylan shook his head dramatically, "Nope!" Then turned his back. She got real close and smirked, "You know I could have you killed." Dylan laughed, "You could, but then you wouldn't need me to kill this night stalker." Her face turned sour as Dylan looked at her.
"You know you're pretty cute for someone that's probably been in the army for about 20 years. How old are you?" Dylan said as he sat down at his desk overlooking the port; men were working tirelessly to dismantle sunk ships.
"20 years! That's rude, but 9 years, and I'm in the Marines." Dylan whispered as he turned to look at the marine, "Doesn't answer my question, how old?" Then he started mimicking her, "And none of that 'don't you know not to ask a woman her age' nonsense."
She looked annoyed as she just felt like shooting him for his blatant disrespect.
