Chapter 43
Chapter 43
Su Fei needed to take the English and Japanese proficiency exams, so she needed her professor’s signature since their major didn’t require English.
“Are you sure about this? The registration fee is not small, and if you’re not confident, you can study a bit longer,” Professor Chen still valued Su Fei. Whether in terms of knowledge or learning progress, Su Fei was among the best in the class.
Su Fei shook her head and said, “Professor Chen, please just give me the certification. I really want to earn some extra money. You know I’m already married, and we’re expecting our own baby soon. I have to support my family.”
Professor Chen truly believed that Su Fei was capable of being a responsible parent, and she felt that Su Fei came from a good background.
In terms of daily life, Su Fei was very generous.
“If you want me to provide you with a certification, then go ahead and register. But remember, make sure to prioritize your studies and don’t neglect them,” Professor Chen said as she issued the certification, while also giving some advice.
Su Fei quickly agreed, nodding continuously to indicate her understanding. She tucked the two certification forms into her textbook.
“Professor Chen, I’ll go to class now. You can carry on with your work,” Su Fei politely bid farewell.
Su Fei quickly entered the classroom, luckily not being late. However, the room was already full of people, although the lecturing professor had not yet arrived.
Su Fei carried her backpack on one shoulder, holding a book in her hand, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, and walking with calm and composed steps. Her hair was neat and tidy, and she exuded an aura of intelligence and attractiveness.
Many students present found her exceptionally beautiful, especially the younger boys who were quite enamored with her.
“Come here, Sister. Sit here, I’ve saved you a spot,” Xi Si, the leader of the study group, quickly called Su Fei over.
Su Fei nodded at Xi Si, smiling faintly, and walked over. Along the way, she unknowingly captured the hearts of many young men.
The group of young men sitting below all wanted to present their best selves to the campus belle. So, whether it was their gaze, their movements, or their subconscious, they all emitted a “look at me” radiance directed towards Su Fei.
Su Fei was like an insulator to these signals; she ignored all the transmitted information. It could be said that she never received such signals before because she was lazy, and she never expected these people to send such signals.
Now it was even more so; her sense of responsibility was particularly strong. She was no longer as lazy as before. The awareness of soon becoming a mother had already settled in her mind.
Now, Su Fei’s heart was full of thoughts of earning money to support her family. She was determined to make her child a second-generation rich kid, so she had to become a first-generation rich person herself.
Su Fei directly sat down beside Xi Si, keeping her gaze fixed. “Elder Sister, thank you for saving me a seat again. When I go home later, I’ll bring you some delicious food.”
Xi Si quickly waved her hand to decline. She was already 30 years old this year, and most of the younger students in the class were at least ten years younger than her, making her feel like their elder sister.
“Why are you late today, Sister Su? Did something good happen to hold you up?” Sister Zhang Yuxuan kept winking and teasing, looking like she had some conspiracy in mind.
“Get lost! I went to see Professor Chen to get two certifications,” Su Fei put down her backpack, took out her textbook, and pushed away the face that came close to hers.
Zhang Yuxuan cheekily leaned in to ask what certifications she got, but before she could speak, the class bell rang.
“Everyone, take out your textbooks. Now, for the questions left from the previous class… Don’t all clam up; only you, Zhang Yuxuan, stand up and answer.” The professor looked at Zhang Yuxuan’s mischievous demeanor and knew she was asking others, thinking she was trying to cheat or copy homework.
Zhang Yuxuan was quite a good student, and these questions didn’t stump her. Her answer was decent, without anything exceptional. The professor let her sit back down without any fuss.
The professor asked a few more questions to other students and found that most of their answers were similar since they were all taught by the same teacher. Finally, the professor called upon her prized student, Su Fei, to conclude this round of questioning.
Su Fei felt troubled. She realized that being a good student was quite painful. Almost every professor and teacher knew her, and she would be questioned in every class.
Relying on her previous exposure to a wealth of information and her current dedication to learning, Su Fei stored new knowledge every day.
So, the questions in university classes for a period of time weren’t difficult for her. After all, she had been to university before, although it wasn’t as prestigious as Beijing University.
“…So, as we were saying, we can approach the viewpoints of this problem from the following aspects…” Su Fei’s answers were comprehensive when it came to addressing questions.
This was exactly what the professor wanted. Sometimes, she delved deeper into the topic than the professor did.
Some of the students below were quite impressed, while others were not. Regardless of their opinions, they mostly acknowledged Su Fei’s ability.
Beijing University could be said to have some of the country’s top talents, and among this group of students, Su Fei’s grades were among the best. It could be said that she was quite admirable.
As for the male students in Beijing University, as you might know, once they graduated, they would be allocated to excellent job positions. Basically, they would have money and houses. Graduates from prestigious universities like this were essentially golden sons-in-law.
Su Fei basically didn’t have time to deal with this group of people now. While she used to chat with them and hide some things before, now she just wanted to get these certifications, find part-time work outside, and take on some freelance jobs in private companies, which should earn her quite a bit of money.
After all, talents in various industries are in high demand nowadays, especially with the current emphasis on external development, requiring many translators. Su Fei used to travel abroad without needing a translator, but that was limited to English-speaking areas. Later, she learned Japanese because she enjoyed watching anime.
Su Fei planned to start with her two best languages and earn her first bucket of gold. She also thought about other aspects because she realized that regardless of the time or space, the developmental trajectory was mostly the same.
She thought to herself that she might not become the richest person, but becoming a first-generation wealthy person was still possible.
Since Su Fei had already made up her mind to do this, she wouldn’t hesitate anymore. She was fully committed and would soon face these two exams. These two exams were the domestic English proficiency exam (CET-4 and CET-6) and the international Japanese proficiency exam (JLPT).
So, these were two relatively challenging exams. Basically, graduates who are currently studying English and Japanese can pass them. The two certificates Su Fei intended to obtain would also qualify her for graduation.
“Have you heard? The academic overachiever Su Fei has been reading some books lately that none of us know about. She must be sneaking around somewhere, trying to find out the exam content and studying secretly!”
“Isn’t that too cunning? Isn’t it like cheating?”
Rumors spread throughout the entire school because jealousy is the bane of mediocrity, especially among those who were originally geniuses. After they entered Beijing University and found themselves becoming ordinary students, some students felt quite uneasy.
