Chapter 45
Chapter 45
Originally, the students at Beijing University didn’t know what was going on. Now everyone knows there’s a show-off. They all knew Su Fei was a good student, but they never expected she was a show-off.
“Look, everyone! This is a real-life example of reaping what you sow! It’s delusional to think that while others are struggling with one course, someone is tackling three courses!”
“Yeah, Su Fei is just too good at pretending. It’s too cheap for her to win the Outstanding Student Scholarship. How can us poor people survive? We’re already struggling enough, and now Su Fei wants to win a scholarship for three courses!” Students studying English and Japanese, some for two or three years, don’t dare to touch these exams.
“It’s not Su Fei’s fault if you can’t keep up. Maybe she’s tried one course already. Then you’ll be embarrassed when she succeeds. After all, she’s excelling in her own major.” Su Fei’s admirers from the literature department rallied behind them.
“Let’s just wait for her to fail. Those of us who’ve studied for two or three years don’t dare to take the exam. We’ll wait until after graduation or work to attempt it. You know, this is an internationally recognized certificate that costs a lot of money. If you fail, it’s all for nothing.” People who were talking behind Su Fei’s back had a reasonable rebuttal.
They really couldn’t afford to invest a month or two of living expenses into this kind of venture. Unless they were a hundred percent sure they could pass the exam on the first try, it was like throwing money away.
“Enough already. Just because you can’t do it, doesn’t mean others can’t. We’ll just wait for her to fail!”
“We’ll wait for her to fail. Then we’ll see who’s the one failing, us or Su Fei.”
“Hmph! A bunch of envious people. I’m not dealing with you anymore.”
“Hmph, who wants to deal with you anyway!”
Both groups got fed up with each other and left, starting to prepare for their studies. After all, they weren’t people who just idled away their time.
The first major battle sparked by Su Fei had begun at Beijing University. Many students who originally didn’t plan to participate in this exam saw someone taking the plunge and decided to take the English or other language exams too.
Many students came from remote areas. Some students from the northeastern region, bordering Russia, could speak both Russian and Chinese from a young age. There were also students from the Korean ethnic minority who could take the Korean language exam.
Soon the English exam began, and after the English exam, it was followed immediately by the Japanese exam. Because language exams were all concentrated within a month, for those studying a language, they could devote themselves fully to one language. For those attempting two languages, everyone admired them as being truly capable individuals.
Usually, Su Fei spent her Saturdays and Sundays at home, either studying or helping Ningning with household chores. The English proficiency exams were scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays, so they didn’t interfere with students’ class time.
“I’m heading out for the exam today. You stay home and take care of yourself,” Su Fei didn’t even mention the English proficiency exam to Ningning. She didn’t think it was a big deal; it was just about getting a few certificates.
“Okay, when you come back, we’ll just eat at home. I won’t cook today,” Ningning supported his waist, his belly showing signs of pregnancy. He didn’t want to deal with the smell of cooking oil in the kitchen.
Luckily, there were more and more snack stalls outside, so they mostly ate out without any issues.
“Got it. I’ll bring back your favorite dumplings. Extra vinegar, extra chili! I didn’t buy any for myself, do you still want some? Or should I get you some fruits, like sour oranges?” Su Fei had been writing several articles for the newspaper lately. Because she wrote frequently, the newspaper began to treat her better, and the pay increased to the highest tier.
“Okay, bring back some more. I’ve been craving something sour.” Ningning’s mouth watered at the thought of sour oranges. He was really looking forward to it.
Su Fei gently touched Ningning’s belly and said, “Mommy’s leaving. Play nicely at home and listen to Daddy, okay?”
“Okay, okay, hurry up and go. She’s still so tiny. She won’t understand anything you say.” Ningning didn’t understand. His belly had just started to bulge, and the baby hadn’t even formed in three or four months, yet Su Fei talked to his belly non-stop.
Reluctantly, Su Fei left and started preparing for the exam at school. No matter how handsome her husband was at home, the students and exams at school were still a hassle.
“Look, it’s her, she’s Su Fei!” Everyone whispered and pointed at Su Fei.
Many students who were previously indifferent to her name now came to see if Su Fei was really who they imagined her to be.
Su Fei didn’t pay much attention to them. She just focused on her exams using her own abilities.
When Su Fei finished the exam and came out, Xi Si and Zhang Yuxuan were waiting outside. Zhang Yuxuan’s younger brother, Zhang Xiang, heard that his sister knew this celebrity at school and hurried over to join in the excitement.
Zhang Xiang didn’t expect to discover a big secret!!!
This Su Fei seemed to be his long-lost fiancee!!!
