The Adaptive Quincy of Bleach

Chapter 8: Scolding (8)

Sora was still chasing after Uryu, however, he was too late, they had already arrived in front of their home.

"Uryu please, don't snitch, pretty please"

Uryu however did not say anything.

As the boy pushed the door open, the sound of the front door creaking could be heard as the door opened up fully.

As Sora stepped into the dimly lit house. His usual confidence was faltering slightly as he noticed the man, the myth, the legend, and the person he least likely wanted to see.

Ryuken Ishida...

The man could be seen, still somewhat in his work outfit, with what seemed to be a slightly lit cigar in his hand.

Oh....he was so cooked.

He was cooked.

Sora tried to hide behind Uryu for protection, however, the man did not have any of this. He gave the boy a piercing gaze before opening his mouth and saying.

"Uryu," The man's voice was cold and precise, it left no room for argument.

"Go to your room."

And there went Sora Shield, he didn't like this at all, he was cooked, so fried, since he came here, not once did he see this man smoke, and yet here he was, a dim-lit cigarette in his hand.

You know the feeling of dread you get when you misbehave at school and your teacher calls your parents.

That kind of dread.

Uryu hesitated for a moment, he glanced between his father and Sora. The Tension in the air was palpable, Uryu however knew better than to question his dad in moments like this. With a brief nod, he muttered, "Good luck," to Sora under his breath before retreating to his room.

Sora was cooked, now that Uryu was gone, he knew he was about to get scolded so badly, he prepared himself for this, he had to not show any sign of weakness.

"Why?" Ryuken's tone was as sharp as a blade, cutting through the tension in the air. "Why did you release your power like that?"

"I saw a Hollow. It was targeting a human—had already eaten two people. If I didn't stop it, more would've died." Sora explained as carefully as he could, trying to make sure he did not step out of line.

Looking up, he couldn't help but see Ryuken expression darkening.

And you thought it was your responsibility to intervene? We are not Shinigami, Sora. It is not our job to hunt Hollows." The man said in a rather cold and detached voice.

Sora felt his frustration boiling over, he tried to calm it down as he spoke, but his voice was rising, and he could not fully contain his frustration.

"So what were we supposed to do? Just watch as that thing killed more people. Is that what you're saying?"

Ryuken's glare intensified, his voice dropping to a deadly calm. "Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. It is not our role to interfere. Quincy does not involve themselves in matters of Hollow extermination there is no reason for you to interfere"

Sora clenched his fist a bit, he didn't like feeling useless, so he couldn't kill Hollow because he destroyed their soul.

The wheel above his head spun, twice, though he didn't notice it.

Sora reiatsu flared faintly in his frustration with the system present.

"The Hollow attacked us! Was I just supposed to stand there and let it devour me and Uryu? I acted in self-defense." He said a bit angry, barely managing to hold himself back, he hated feeling weak and helpless, anytime he felt that feeling, he was sent back to that faithful night when he was too weak and helpless to help his mother.

Ryuken's brow furrowed slightly at this, his stance softening just enough for Sora to notice. The boy's actions, while impulsive, were not entirely reckless. It wasn't as though he had sought out trouble—trouble had found him.

After a long moment of silence, the man sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose, he opened his mouth and said.

"You should not have put yourself or Uryu in such a situation. You should have used your power sparingly, enough to escape, nothing more. By releasing so much reiatsu, you are putting more people in danger"

Sora felt slightly annoyed...so him stopping the hollow from eating more plus along side him and Uryu was a problem now, here the man was scolding him about how badly he was using his power and yet he hadn't done shit to help him control it.

"I didn't ask to be born with this power, you know. Maybe instead of criticizing me for protecting myself, you could teach me how to control it better."

Ryuken's eyes narrowed at the remark but didn't respond immediately. Finally, he stepped aside and gestured toward the hallway.

"Go to your room, Sora," he said, his tone leaving no room for further discussion. "We'll talk about this later."

Sora groaned under his breath, as he walked away, he was a bit mad, but not mad enough to raise his voice, he was no idiot.

The man waited for the boy to leave before pondering a bit, the boy mom had told him to protect him.

Ryuken sigh, so much work
