The Ancient Beast Tamer Bloodline

Chapter 18: The Approaching Monster Tide

The moment that they felt the aura that was approaching them, they immediately understood that the figure that was approaching them was definitely a 3 star beast tamer.

At this moment, everyone was having a serious expression on their faces. They all understood the implication that came with the arrival of a three-star beast tamer.

For the others that were here for the benefits, they understood that just like how the one star beast tamers stood out of this issue the moment that they arrived, they had no other choice but to stand down and allow the three star beast tamer to take all the benefits.

As for William, he understood that he had no any chance of resisting when facing the 3 star beast tamer. It was impossible for him to be able to do anything to a three-star beast tamer, even if that beast tamer was only in the initial stage of the three star rank.

Initially, this group of two star beast tamers wanted to take advantage of the fact that the city Lord had left, in order to make sure that they gained something from William.

A few moments later, a huge bird suddenly descended from the sky. The wingspan of the bird was at least 3.5 meters. And standing on the back of this bird, it was none other than Patrick, the city lord of Reti City.

"Welcome, City Lord." Everyone immediately saluted the city Lord.

Patrick did not respond, but instead, he simply looked towards William. After that, he shifted his gaze and looked at the other two star beast tamers that were about to fight against William.

Without any shift of expression on his face, he said, "You all know about the rules, right? According to the rules that had been set, no fight is supposed to take place within the city. Can you tell me what you were planning to do?"

Even though the city Lord had asked everyone around, his question was actually directed towards this group of two star beast tamers that were just about to attack William.

Everyone immediately bowed their heads upon hearing the question. They had thought that since the City Lord had left, they would be able to deal with the situation fast enough before he came back.

And as long as they make sure that no casualties occurred, they would be able to clear the scene well enough, to the extent that the city Lord would not blame them.

Receiving no response from this group, the city Lord simply shook his head. Then, he looked at his two deputies and said, "The two of you are supposed to be role models. The positions that you hold imply that you are supposed to be in the lead in making sure that the rules are being followed.

But here you are. You are actually in the lead, leading others to break the rules that you are supposed to enforce. Can you tell me if that is something that a person that holds authority is supposed to do?"

"I'm sorry city Lord, but we have no other choice. This is an opportunity, and William definitely should not keep it for himself. That is the reason why we came here with the intention of having him share it with the rest of us.

As long as our strength improves, we should be able to improve the safety level of the city." The other deputy City Lord responded.

"I don't want to hear the excuses that you are giving me. If a fight broke out, and several of you ended up dead, what do you think would happen? Would the strength of our city increase, or decrease?" The city Lord responded.

His question was met with silence, and in the end, Patrick simply said, "The two of you are going to be relieved from your positions. I'm going to file an official statement to the higher ups, and another batch of deputy City Lords will be selected."

Patrick's words immediately sent panic to the two of them. The two deputy city Lords had never expected that Patrick was going to be so decisive.

Yes, they understood that they had done a mistake this time, and they should have waited until Patrick had left for real, before they could finally take action. But regardless, they understood that it was going to be impossible for them to be able to hold the position of the vice city lord anymore.

They wanted to refute, but they could not. Even if they wanted to, could they fight against the city Lord? He was a 3 star beast tamer, while they on the other hand were just two star beast tamers.

The gap between them was unsurmountable. So, they could only give up, hoping that there was no any other punishment that the city lord was going to put on them due to the mistakes that they had made this time.

As for the other two star beast tamers around, they were all excited, especially that peak stage to star beast tamer. He was the one with the highest chances of gaining the position of the deputy city Lord.

Well, it could be said that his position was almost guaranteed, due to his current power level. After all, the position of the deputy city Lord was handed over to a person with incredible strength, and not just anybody.

After settling the issue, Patrick looked at William deeply. Then finally, he shifted his gaze, looking at the group of beast tamers around and said, "A monster tide is about to attack the city. The situation has already been brewing for quite a while now, and the tide will be arriving in the next few days.

Preparations are supposed to be made, in order to face the monster tide. We cannot allow our city to fall. As for reinforcements, that is something that is impossible for us to be able to get at the time being, considering that our neighboring cities are also facing the same situation."

Patrick's words sent shock in the hearts of all the people that were listening. They had not anticipated that the monster tide that was just brewing to actually strike. And, they did not have that much time, less than a week.

Normally, during monster tides, they could ask for reinforcements from neighboring cities. That way, they will be able to reduce the casualty rate.

But since the other cities were also facing monster tides, it was clear that they would not dispatch any manpower to the other cities, at least before they dealt with their own problems.

Patrick took in the looks of all the people around, before he finally spoke again. "And be warned. You better not think of running away from the city. We have already faced several monster tides, and we are at advantage at the moment.

And let me say this, if you run away, you will be treated as a traitor. And after we deal with the monster tide, I'm going to personally hunt you down.

As for the advantage that I was talking about, we have the forest in the western part of the city. The monster tied has never risen from that side, and the monsters seem to be incapable of entering it.

The only monsters present within the forest always remain there, and those from outside the forest never enter. So, the tide will only be from three different directions."

The few people that had already been planning on how to live the city before the monster tide struck immediately gave up on the idea. They understood that it was impossible for them to be able to survive, as long as the city Lord was alive if they actually deserted the city.

William on the other hand felt relieved, but at the same time, he felt that the situation was kind of unfavorable. The Awakening had just happened not long ago, and if they had been given a few years, then they would definitely have many more beast tamers.

Maybe there was even a possibility that some of those geniuses that had been sent out would return, to lend a helping hand to the city.

At the same time, he felt lucky that the city Lord had intervened. Otherwise, a fight was inevitable, and he was not really sure if the plan that Samuel was having was going to be successful. Additionally, he had not even managed to buy Samuel enough time as they had agreed upon.

After passing the information that had brought him over, Patrick looked at William once again. Then, he shifted his gaze and looked at the residence behind him, then looked away.

His beast, a black hawk flapped its wings, before it soared into the air, disappearing into the distance.

The others also began leaving, but the two star beast tamers that have just been prepared to attack William understood one thing. Currently, there was enmity between them and William, and he would definitely strike against them when there was an opportunity.

But they thought, if they actually got a chance, they will try as much as possible to eliminate William. They could not allow an enemy to survive, as the enemy might strike when they list expected.

Just after the entire group of beast tamers that had gathered at his residence left, William suddenly noticed that someone was coming.

When he turned around, he realized that the person that was coming over was actually none other than Samuel. But William could not help but frown. After all, he realized that he could not see through Samuel at all.
