Chapter 2: Samuel

Booom!

Another explosion resounded, and the remainder of the villagers that were still alive were all burnt into ashes. The flames that were produced by this lion were obviously not simple.

The Lion observed the situation, and realizing that it had already killed quite a sizable number of people, it immediately turned around and left.

As for the wild animals, they continued lying down on the ground, and only managed to get up after the giant monster had left. But even after getting up, it was clear that they were afraid.

They did not rush into the village, but instead, they rushed away, as if they were afraid that they would be found again by the monster.

As everything finally began settling, the children that had been locked inside the house is finally begun coming out. Well, they had not been locked in the houses, but instead of, they had just been taken in the houses, and the doors had been closed.

And after realizing that it had already been quite a while, and there was no longer the commotion that was going on out there, they finally decided to come out. After all, their parents had not come to look for them after quite a while.

But the moment that those children came out of the houses, they realized that something was completely wrong. The entrance of the village was currently completely burnt down to the ground.

The wooden fences had already been burnt, including the gate. And looking outside the entrance of the village, they could clearly see that there was a large part of ground that had been burnt completely.

Any vegetation that was there had already been burnt to ashes. And as they were little, they immediately began rushing towards that direction, wondering what was going on.

Some of the children immediately began shouting for their parents, but they did not receive any response at all. Some of those little kids immediately began crying after realizing that they could not find their fathers or mothers.

As for those that had matured slightly, after arriving at the entrance of the village, they immediately understood that something big had happened.

And considering that they could not see any adult within the village, they immediately realized that there was a great possibility that the wild animals had somehow managed to kill them.

Of course, they were not new to death. So many deaths had been occurring in the past few months, and of course, those kids that were over 10 years old understood this.

They all trembled, but they were not sure about what to do. After all, if there was no adult here, then who was going to cater for them?

Immediately after understanding the situation, the majority of those kids immediately began crying. They were crying in sorrow, for losing their parents. As for the others, they immediately took their younger siblings, and tried to comfort them that their parents would be coming back later on.

"Ki....kids!"

And just as the kids were crying, they suddenly heard someone calling to them. At first, they just thought that it was an illusion. But at the same time, hope immediately blossomed in the hearts of those kids that understood the current situation.

After hearing the voice yet again, they immediately began rushing towards the source of the voice. And it was them that they finally found someone that was burnt.

This person possessed so many injuries, and it seemed that he was going to die soon. Considering that fights occurred in the village many times, these kids had already seen people with varying injuries.

"Uncle, what is going on? Where are the others? What happened?" One of the kids could not help but ask the middle-aged man.

Surprisingly, this middle-aged man was the same person that had been hit directly by the first attack from the monster. But somehow, he was the one who had survived, yet, he was the only one.

He had already seen everything that had happened, but he did not have the capability of doing anything. Even before being injured to this extent, he was not capable of dealing with that monster.

But now, he had not only suffered the external injuries that could be seen, but he had also suffered from internal injuries.

"Something has... happened. Where is... Samuel? Has he... come back yet?" The middle-aged man asked back.

"Big brother Samuel has not yet come back. But where are our parents? Are they dead? Have those bad animals killed them? Have they taken them to eat them?" Another kid asked.

The situation left the middle-aged man completely helpless. He was not really sure about how to explain to these children that their parents had gone. And, there was nothing that was left of them that could be burried.

"When Samuel... comes back, immediately... inform him to... to... come and look for me." The man said. That was all that he could say at the moment, considering that immediately after he said those words, he passed out.

The children will not really sure about what to do in this situation. Some of them immediately tried carrying the middle-aged man, just as they had seen many times in the village, but they realized that they could not do it.

It was impossible for the slightly over 10 years old children to carry a middle-aged man with such a bulky frame. And, even if they co-operated, these kids obviously did not have the co-ordination that was required in order to be able to successfully carry this man into the house.

While the kids were puzzled, wondering what they were to do, they suddenly heard the sound of someone rushing over. And when they looked up, their eyes immediately lit up.

"Big brother Samuel, come over here! Your father has been injured!" One of them suddenly shouted towards the young man that was rushing towards them.

This young man who was initially carrying an antelope on his back immediately dropped it on to the ground as he rushed over. The bow that he was holding was also thrown aside, and only the quiver of arrows remained on his back.

Samuel rushed over, and immediately saw the man who was on the ground, unconscious. He could tell that he was unconscious, considering that he could see the slight fluctuations on the chest.

It was just that the injuries that had been suffered by his father were just intense. The burn wounds were extremely severe to the extent that at some places, one could even see the bones.

Samuel's heart immediately raced. He looked around, only to see that a huge area had been burnt. It was just that he could not understand what had happened here.

Could it be that the villagers were carrying out some form of experiment with fire? But how was that possible? After all, even if they were playing with fire, they were adults, and they could not play with fire to the extent that it would lead to such injuries.

And why was it that no any other villager had come to look after his father? Or could it be that there was a conflict and his father was injured to this extent?

But considering how the relationship between the villagers here was good, the possibility of something like that happening was extremely low. So, he was confused.

Regardless of that, he immediately picked up his father, and headed back into the village. The other children also immediately followed after him.

After getting back into the house that the two of them had been living in, he laid his father on the bed. Despite the blood that had already painted his clothes red, and even the bed was currently getting soaked in blood, the young man did not really care.

Instead, he immediately took action, trying as much as possible to prevent blood loss. He could not allow his father to die.

And, along the way, he had already realized that the villagers were no more. According to the children, it seemed that some wild animals had to come to attack, leading to the villagers going to fight. But in the end, nobody came back.

But Samuel believed that it was impossible for the wild animals to cause that kind of damage outside there. It was clear that something had really happened, and it was his father that was going to tell him.

In the village, in case of an attack from wild animals, anyone that was 15 years and above would immediately go to fight. As for the elderly, even though the majority of the people wanted to keep the elderly at home, the elderly did not accept.

So, even those old people went to the battlefield, even though they would not be at the front line. But still, this time, it was clear that they were unlucky.

About 30 minutes later, Samuel had finally managed to finish bandaging his father. But the clothes that were used in bandaging had already been soaked in blood.

But there was nothing else that Samuel could do. After all, other than the medicine that was applied during the bandaging process, there was no any other thing that could be done in order to deal with the situation. He could just hope that his father would wake up.

And about 2 hours later, finally, his father opened his eyes. Samuel finally felt relieved. But, he had so many questions in his mind.

"A monster attacked the village. You have to get out of here together with those children as soon as possible." That was the first thing that the middle-aged man said after he woke up.
