The Ancient Beast Tamer Bloodline

At this point, the middle-aged man was capable of speaking without much of an issue. It was a clear indication that his condition had improved as compared to the first time when the children found him.

But the pained the expression on his face indicated that he was not feeling well at all. After all, the injuries that he had suffered were indeed gruesome.

"What is a monster?" Samuel asked with a confused expression pasted on his face. This was actually the first time that he had heard of this word. Well, of course, in the stories that some of the elderly villagers had been telling the children, when he was young, he had heard about monsters.

But those monsters that were being mentioned by those elders were just legends. So, what was his father trying to imply by saying that a monster had attacked the village?

As he was still wondering about that, the middle-aged man showed a complicated expression on his face. It was as if he was hesitating on saying something, but in the end, he let out a helpless sigh.

"This world is just beyond this village. I do believe that in the various ventures that you have been making in order to hunt wild animals for meat has already told you that.

Our village is very tiny, completely secluded from the world. This world is very advanced, possessing things that can be used to make life more efficient. Those things are called technology.

But of course, that is not the main focus. This world was invaded by monsters many years ago. The human race collapsed from the top of the food chain, to the bottom.

But somehow, after several years of surviving, our ancestors came up with methods of surviving. They came up with a method of controlling those monsters, and using them to fight.

Surprisingly, by being capable of controlling the monsters, not only would the person be able to use the monster fight against the other monsters, but instead, they themselves would also be strengthened.

This method of controlling the beasts has evolved over the past millennium, and to the recent day, more advanced methods have already been identified.

In this world as of now, there exists both monsters and the normal animals that existed in this world before the appearance of the monsters.

As for the monsters, they are animals of various species. Some of them look like ordinary wild animals, while others look like nothing that you have ever seen.

But all the same, they share one thing in common. That is the fact that they usually possess huge body sizes, and they possess supernatural abilities. The strength that they possess is way beyond the imagination of an ordinary person.

As compared to the wild animals that could be found within this world, even those that could be found in the sea, these monsters that appeared are on a completely different level.

In any case, the monsters are ranked, and the ranking system is something that had been created over time as a form of categorizing monsters according to the power that they possessed.

The rankings range from one star to nine stars. Each star has four levels, the low stage, mid, late, and finally the peak stage. We are not really sure if there exists a level that is beyond 9 stars, but there is that possibility nonetheless.

It Is this same ranking that the humans use as well. The people that are capable of controlling the monsters are known as beast tamers.

As you can see, in this village, other than myself, there is no any other person that is a beast tamer. The reason behind that being that despite the fact that there is a method of controlling monsters, that does not imply that just anybody can use it.

Many people have already tried using the method in order to try and control the monsters, but they ended up failing over and over again. It was then that it was identified that only a small group of people could control monsters.

Yes, if we count the number, the number of humans that can control monsters is extremely huge. But compared to the entire population of the humans, it is clear that this is just a small proportion of the humans.

If I can give you an estimation, it should be just about one in 10,000 people can become a beast tamer. And each and every beast tamer holds a high position within the human society."

Upon reaching this point, the middle-aged man finally stopped speaking. It was as if he was reminiscing about his past.

Samuel on the other hand was completely shocked about what he had heard. He had never anticipated that his thoughts were actually true.

Ever since he was young, he had only been with his father. And occasionally, he would have some dreams that would show him things that he did not understand.

He had told his father occasionally about this, but his father simply told him that it was just a dream. But this time, it was clear that his father did not seem to want him to know about the world beyond the village.

Samuel did not know the reason behind that, but he understood that his father had to have a good reason as to why that was the case. He did not believe that his father would refuse telling him about the outside world without any reason.

Of course, another thing that shocked him was the fact that his father was among that rare group of people that was capable of controlling the monsters.

But he was a little confused. If his father was strong, just as he had said about those beast tamers, why was it that he was in his current situation? Or was it possible that the monster that had attacked this time was way stronger than his father?

Leaving all that side, why was his father in this village in the first place? Since the beast tamers held high positions in the society, why would his father live in such a small village? To Samuel, this did not make any sense at all.

And just as Samuel's thoughts were wondering around, trying to find answers to the numerous questions that had emerged in his mind, his father continued speaking.

"To become a beast tamer, this is something that can be identified when someone is young. As long as someone is at the age of 20 years and below, but at least 15 years old, they would be able to know if they could become beast tamers or not.

This does not imply that someone who is older than 20 years old cannot become a beast tamer. After all, nobody can guarantee that everyone who is 20 years old has already come into contact with a method of becoming a beast tamer.

As for those younger than 15, they basically don't have the ability of becoming beast tamers. Before the age of 15, there is a certain change that needs to occur first in order for a person to possess the capability of becoming a beast tamer.

It Is just that this change only occurs when someone becomes 15 years old. But of course, this change is not noticeable just because someone has undergone a change. This is after all something that happens to all the humans in the world.

Regardless, after someone gets to 15 years old, they will be given the method of becoming a beast tamer. Then, they would be allowed to try and tame a beast using that method.

If they fail, then that implies that they cannot become beast tamers. But if they become successful, then that implies that they have successfully joined the ranks of the beast tamers.

Once someone becomes a beast tamer, there is a certain proportion of energy that moves from the body of the monster into their body. It is that energy that strengthens the body of a beast tamer.

But of course, that is not all. As the strength of the beast tamers keep on increasing, they can gain random abilities from the monsters that they control.

As for the number of monsters that people can control, the majority can only control one monster. But for the geniuses, they can actually control two monsters at a time. And on normal occasions, those geniuses usually possess extra ordinary combat capabilities.

Of course, it is impossible for a 15 years old kid who does not have any power to be able to control a monster that is at 9 stars power ranking. They can only start by controlling the monsters at the first star level.

But they will need to develop. After all, the moment that someone manages to control a monster, that will be the monster that they will be controlling for life. Well, that is unless that monster ends up dying.

And with the death of the monster, there is always a backlash, an internal injury that is suffered by the beast tamer. The higher the power level of the monster that a beast tamer controls, the higher the backlash.

As for the development, the monsters have a form of growth. This is just natural for the monsters. As long as they are given time, they can develop from 1 star up to 7 stars.

But from 7 stars, they will need certain resources in order to be able to improve any further. But of course, the process of waiting for the monster to develop by itself is extremely low.

While the monsters have an extremely long lifespan, the same does not apply to the humans, unless they possess greater power.

For that reason, humans will have to actively look for resources in order to ensure that the growth of the monsters is as fast as possible. This way, they can ensure that they can live a long life, and at the same time, they will have the capability of protecting themselves against the stronger monsters." Samuel's father paused once again.

Samuel used this chance to ask a question. "Father, what level are you in?"
