Chapter 12: Chapter 12: The Bloody Battle
Raelia, clad in a fitted dark military uniform, was the embodiment of strength and determination.
Anyone who crossed her would find it hard to believe that this 21-year-old woman, with piercing eyes and an unyielding posture, was a princess.
Mounted on a warhorse, she led the reinforcements with a firm hand behind her Jonady sharing the same steed, supported her.
He, too, wore military garb, refusing to stay safely within the castle while others fought.
Thanks to training from the court mages, he had mastered some spells and was skilled in close combat.
Their destination: a direct confrontation with Giyard's demonic forces.
Riding alongside them, Gilbert stood out, resplendent in his ornate armor.
Despite his youth, his courage and humility made him a respected figure in the army.
Unlike other nobles, Gilbert treated all the kingdom's citizens equally—a quality that Raelia had admired from her childhood friend.
In the heart of the human forces, Raelia raised her sword high, her voice thundering: — "For the Kingdom of Ednia, charge!"
The soldiers roared, inspired by their princess's call, and launched into a determined assault.
From a vantage point slightly removed from the battlefield, Giyard observed the clash. The demonic forces were encircled, under attack from all sides by the human army. Beside him, one of his trembling subordinates dared to murmur: — "Commander... maybe we should consider laying down our arm—"
He didn't finish. In a flash of rage, Giyard decapitated him with a single stroke of his sword.
The demon turned toward his troops, his eyes blazing with unrestrained fury.
— "When did it come to this?" he wondered bitterly. "Was it that stupid Phillipe's failure? No matter."
Clenching the hilt of his sword until his knuckles turned white, he bellowed:"Demons! Show these pathetic humans who we are!"
Giyard's cry echoed across the battlefield. His soldiers, exhausted and trapped, responded with a unified, savage howl—a chilling, feral battle cry.
The collision of the two armies was a maelstrom of chaos and violence. The humans, organized and resolute, faced off against the demons, whose ferocity and dark magic made every encounter deadly.
At the forefront of the reinforcements, Raelia fought with relentless precision and determination. Her blade glinted in the sunlight, striking with fierce grace.
Jonady, at her side, summoned lightning and gusts of wind to repel their adversaries, his control of elemental magic sharpening with each spell.
Close by, Gilbert led his unit with exemplary discipline. His strong, clear voice directed his soldiers through the chaos.
Meanwhile, Giyard tore through the battlefield with brutal efficiency, cutting down anyone in his path. His rage seemed to fuel his strength, his sword carving bloody arcs wherever he struck. Yet, for every demon felled by human blades and arrows, Ednia's forces tightened their hold.
As the battle reached its peak, Giyard spotted Raelia and Jonady, their presence radiating a commanding aura.
— "These wretched humans..." he growled, a cruel sneer twisting his features.
He charged toward them, sweeping aside soldiers in his path. Raelia and Jonady, seeing him approach, exchanged a glance. She nodded, gripping her sword tightly, prepared to face the demonic commander.
Around them, the battle raged on with relentless ferocity, but the duel between Raelia, Jonady, and Giyard would determine the outcome of the war.
