LIGHTNOVELWORLD Chapter 21_ Modeling Agency
The bell rang for the end of class.
Haruto-kun made his way over to me. He was swinging his phone around in his hand.
“Riku-kun~. You down to go to the arcade today?”
I looked down at my phone.
I would be a little busy.
“Sorry, I’ve got something on.”
“Ah, are you sure? Can’t you even come for a little while? You literally ditched me last time.”
“I did tell you that I’d leave. I don’t think you heard me, though.”
“Come on~!”
I slowly packed my belongings back into my bag.
“I promise I’ll go with you tomorrow. I’ll be free, alright? You can just go with Abe-kun.”
“I suppose…”
I felt a little bad, but I needed to attend to this business.
Somewhat reluctantly, he turned around and looked at Abe-kun who was still standing behind him. For some reason, it seemed like Haruto-kun wasn’t as interested in going with him, but it should’ve been good enough.
The two of them left the class, and I opened my phone back up.
I had quite a long email sent to me.

Hi Mizutaka-san, I couldn’t find any managers associated with you, so I am emailing you directly. We at OAC Models are currently looking for new talent within the industry.
We saw your appearance on the dating show Sweeping Love and are interested in recruiting you as part of our agency. We understand that this may be a big decision for you so we would like for you to come over and have a chat with our recruitment director. He’s very interested in bringing you along as a part of our excellent team.
We are a high-quality agency offering lots of opportunities for future development. This may include jobs in the film industry, music industry and performance industry.
The recruitment director sees lots of potential in you and has personally offered you a position as part of our elite modelling team, OAC Spectrum. Wages are high, and you can expect lots of jobs with different well-known organisations such as Yamada Productions, EC Films and Omora.

It was an interesting invitation.
After researching the agency a little bit, it seemed that they didn’t have any connection with that man, which was good. I needed to increase my reputation in the entertainment industry, so this was indeed a good opportunity for me.
I had no reason to decline to visit their agency this afternoon, so I packed my bags and made my way over on the bus.

It was near the middle of the city, positioned between several other large companies. Making my way inside, I looked around at the extremely-minimalistic design on their insides. The walls were plain white, with only small abstract paintings to decorate them. Inside, the reception counter was also completely white.
“Hello, how can I help you?”
“Hi, um, I was emailed by the recruitment team. They said that they wanted to show me around the place?”
“I see, and what’s your name, young man?”
“It’s Mizutaka Riku.”
She tapped away on her slick, modern desktop. From what I could tell, the equipment and facilities here were top-quality.
“Alright, I see that the recruitment director has left a note here. That’s all good then. Come with me, I’ll show you to his office.”
“Thank you.”
We made our way up the stair, leading past some rooms where there were photoshoots until eventually we arrived at the recruitment director’s office.
She pulled open the door, gesturing for me to go inside.
“Here, this was the boy you were looking for.”
“Ah, perfect. Mizutaka-san, right? Take a seat.”
I sat down on the small couch in front of his desk.
The receptionist took her leave.
“So, what do you think of our offer? Do you have any questions?”
“It’s interesting. I’d like to have a look around first, though.”
“That’s all good. I’ll show you around now, then.”
Getting up, the two of us left his office once again.
…
Intruding on a photoshoot that seemed to be happening. I looked at the group of boys who seemed to be posing for a clothing advertisement of some sort. There was a large camera crew circling a wide poster-like backdrop. There were crew members seated all around the place, working with lights, technology and props.
“So this is what you’ll be doing most of the time. We get requests from different companies, and they send us instructions on what they want. This is just the basic set, if you’ll join us, you will be part of our elite OAC Spectrum team.”
“What’s the difference?”
“I’ll take you over to take a look at them now. I think they’re currently doing a photoshoot for Zeal, the clothing brand. I’m sure you know about them.”
Zeal was one of the largest clothing brands in the country, so there weren’t many people who didn’t know about them.
Making our way upstairs even further, there was a significant change in tone. With even larger rooms and even more people, I looked at the almost gymnasium-sized room where they were taking their photos.
“So, here’s OAC Spectrum. These boys are our top earners, and they are often offered jobs from prestigious brands.”
With snacks and drinks strewn out across the table and the air conditioner blasting to keep the room at a comfortable temperature, it definitely looked like the ambience was quite pleasant.
“You’re going to let me join them as soon as I join the agency?”
“I have a keen eye, you know? I can tell if someone has promise, and you, Mizutaka-kun, I’m willing to trust that you’ll be successful.”
“Do you mind if I take some time to think about it? I’d like to look around a bit more.”
“That’s fine with me~! Take as long as you’d like.”
It wasn’t exactly that I had anything to think about. My initial analysis was already completed. I just wanted to check some things before I agreed.
There didn’t appear to be anything out of the ordinary, but I wanted to make sure that there wasn’t any political drama inside.
I’ll probably join, though. This is the best way to progress through the industry at the moment.
