The end of the world ~ I can copy everything

Chapter 8: The Power Awakens and Street Showdown

In a quiet, deserted alley, the walls are covered with some faded posters, and there's scattered trash on the ground. Occasionally, the sound of vehicles can be heard in the distance. The alley is surrounded by tall buildings, making it feel particularly isolated. Melody Marks and her friend Mila Azul chat casually, enjoying the rare moment of leisure.

Suddenly, they met two gangsters. The white gangster had a mocking smile on his face, while the strong black man had a provocative look on his face. The two blocked their way.

"Hey, girls, this isn't a place for you," the white gangsters sneers, his gaze shifting between Melody and Mila.

"Yeah, take it easy. Let us get to know you better," the black gangster adds, his tone full of challenge.

Melody frowns but doesn't back down, responding confidently, "We don't need your help."

Mila, nervous, whispers to Melody, "Let's go. Don't start any trouble."

But Melody isn't backing down. Having practiced Taekwondo, she tells herself to stay calm. As the two thugs move closer, she suddenly kicks the white gangsters in the stomach, causing him to howl in pain and stumble back.

"Fuck! You bitch!" the white gangster yells, then lunges at her, but Melody nimbly dodges and follows up with a spinning kick that knocks him to the ground.

The black gangster attempts to step in but is completely unprepared for Melody's quick reaction. She swiftly strikes, landing a whip kick to his leg, sending him crashing to the ground.

In the end, the two thugs flee the alley in embarrassment. Melody stands firm, out of breath, her gaze resolute. Mila stands in awe, her mouth open in surprise, staring at Melody.

"Wow, you're amazing! How did you defeat them so quickly?" Mila exclaims.

Melody smiles, wiping the sweat from her forehead, and teasingly says, "That's the power of Taekwondo! Let's avoid places like this next time."

Mila nods, admiration shining in her eyes, filled with respect for Melody.

Melody Marks is 20 years old, 5ft 7in tall, and wears a D-cup bra. She is an aerodynamics major in college and has studied Taekwondo for two years.

Mila Azul, 18 years old, is a high school student, 5ft 8in tall, and wears a G-cup bra. Originally from Ukraine, she and her family have now become American citizens.

The bustling streets of Chinatown are alive with noise, red lanterns hanging high, and vibrant neon signs on either side of the shops. The air is filled with various aromas, and the flow of pedestrians forms a lively scene. Amidst this noise, there is one jewelry store that stands out for its quiet atmosphere. Old display pieces sit outside the shop, yet they don't seem to attract much attention. Inside, the lighting is dim, with only a few warm yellow lights shining on the jewelry in the display windows.

The shop owner, an elderly Chinese man, has a determined yet slightly anxious look on his face, holding a Daoist talisman. The talisman is slightly yellowed, with ancient symbols and ink marks, representing traditional blessings and exorcism. The old man carefully holds the Daoist talisman, scanning the store, seemingly looking for a suitable spot to place it. He chants silently to himself, hoping to bring about some change and wishing for the business to improve.

Behind the counter, his daughter stands with her arms crossed, watching her father helplessly. Her face reflects a mix of emotions—understanding yet bewildered. She seems used to her father's frequent "prayers for wealth," but she can't help but find it a bit absurd.

The store owner's name is Jack Lee, and his daughter is Julia Knezovic. Julia is not Jack's biological daughter; she was entrusted to him by a white friend of his who passed away. Jack's wife passed away early, and since they had no children, Jack treated Julia as his own, raising her with care.

Julia Knezovic is 24 years old, 5ft 8in tall, and wears a G-cup bra. She works at a bank, and today, with the bank being closed, she is helping out in the shop.

This jewelry store was passed down to Jack by his father. Though business isn't great, Jack has never considered selling it. His main source of income is actually the illegal trade of high-value gold jewelry, which, despite being illegal, offers high profits through buying low and selling high. Many people in Chinatown engage in this trade.

Ander's gold had no certification, and after he was rejected by several stores, Jack accepted the gold, and Ander's life gradually improved.

"Daddy, you've been at it for a while. Sit down and rest for a bit," Julia said.

Julia is deeply grateful for Jack's care, so she is very filial toward him. Seeing her father finally sit down, she quickly brought him a glass of water. Jack accepted the water and drank it down in a few gulps.

"Julia, I think the Daoist talisman is in the wrong spot. Let me think about it; I'm sure I can find the right place," Jack said.

The sound of a wind chime rings through the door, and two young girls push the door open and enter—Aria and Aizawa.

"Welcome, please feel free to look around," Julia greets them politely.

Just as Aria and Aizawa sit down, they suddenly feel dizzy, and then both lose consciousness. Jack catches Julia just before she collapses to the floor, and father and daughter slump against the counter, losing consciousness together.

"Mei!"

Ander rushed into the tatami room and immediately embraced the unconscious Mei, gently placing her down on the tatami mat. Seeing her pale face, a wave of anxiety passed through his heart. He quickly covered everyone with blankets and then stood up, only to feel a wave of dizziness. Shaking his head to shake off the dizzy feeling, he went outside to check on Anllela's condition.

When he reached the courtyard, he saw Anllela sitting in a chair, unconscious. He couldn't help but chuckle softly, "You're really lucky, picking such a comfortable spot to pass out." He gently carried her back to the tatami room and carefully placed her on the mat. Then, he sat down and began to reflect on his own changes.

Since earlier, he had felt a continuous surge of energy flowing into his body, as if an invisible space had been infused within him. More surprisingly, it seemed that he had gained the superpower that Alexa had mentioned. Though he was still unclear about the abilities he had acquired, one thing puzzled him—was this even a superpower? He discovered that he could "replicate" others' superpowers. In the past, he could only replicate physical objects, but now this replication ability seemed to have upgraded, allowing him to replicate superpowers. Was this a new superpower, or an evolution of his original ability?

Besides the superpowers, he also realized that his body seemed to contain electric currents, bringing a familiar sensation like the jolt he felt when electrocuted as a child.

He closed his eyes, sensing a force moving within him that seemed to relate to the superpowers Alexa had described. He tried spreading his hand out, silently commanding the electric energy to release, and to his surprise, he saw a small electric orb pulsating in his palm.

"Haha, it actually worked!" Ander exclaimed, looking at the electric orb in his hand. He couldn't help but laugh at himself, "Should I be thank for that experience of being electrocuted as a child?"

Just then, a cold system voice echoed in his mind.

"Beep! The apocalypse survival system is binding with the host's soul."

"System integration 1%...10%...100%. Beep! The system has successfully integrated with the host."

"Beep! The system detects a high-level energy consciousness within the host. The system is attempting to avoid the high-level energy consciousness."

Ander frowned, finding the voices a bit abrupt, but he was still curious and asked, "Who are you? Where do you come from? Why did you choose to merge with me?"

"Answering the host, I am the apocalypse survival system. The system is not authorized to answer questions about its origin and is solely responsible for assisting survivors in the apocalypse."

"Then, how exactly will you help us?"

"The system store contains various food, water, and tools, which will help the host adapt to the environment better."

After that, a holographic screen appeared in his mind, listing various items. He briefly scanned through it and was surprised to find certain items related to superpowers. He shifted his gaze back to the system, feeling a growing sense of confusion.

"Beep! System notification: The host can now access the system interface using thoughts."

Ander mentally returned to the main menu and discovered the system had five main functions: Information, Recycling, Chat, Forum, and Store.

He noticed that no one was talking in either the chat or the forum, so he raised this question about the system.

"Answering the host, all survivors worldwide are currently unconscious."

"Why are the others unconscious while I remain awake?"

"Because the host has the protection of a high-level energy consciousness."

"High-level energy consciousness... What exactly is that?" Ander grew more confused as he listened.

"It is the current flowing energy, which has consciousness... Zzz... System leak... Under electric attack... Zzz..."

Ander couldn't help but laugh aloud, "You're really not reliable, are you?"

But the idea of electricity having consciousness did align with the theories of inventor Nikola Tesla.

"System, are you okay?"

"The system is repairing itself, too busy to respond to you."

Ander's face darkened. "You, being the system, are too busy for me?" However, he had learned that the electric current inside him was indeed a high-level energy consciousness. When had this consciousness entered his body? Was it at the age of five?

Just then, he looked at Anllela lying on the bed and noticed a three-line prompt above her head.

"Superpower: Gravity/Anti-gravity"

"Level: Six"

"Replicate?"

Ander guessed that Anllela and the others had probably all upgraded to level six. After copying Alexa's superpower, he then looked at Celine. Sure enough, she had also reached level six.

He glanced at Marina and the others and found that they, too, had their own superpowers. Marina's was Explosion, Hatala controlled the wind element, Blaire had temperature control, Lily could ionize her targets, and Mei had the Ice element of nature. Without exception, they were all first-level superpowered individuals.

In the system's information page, his personal details were listed, but strangely, his original copying and lightning abilities were not categorized as superpowers. Instead, the skills he had copied from Anllela, Marina, and the others appeared. The superpowers copied from Marina and the others were listed as first-level, that's no problem, but the ones copied from Anllela and the others were listed as level six!

According to Alexa, the level of superpowers was determined by the amount of energy stored in the user's body. The more energy stored, the higher the level. So, the question was, with some of his superpowers being level one and others level six, what level should his energy storage be considered?

It seemed no one could answer his confusion. Never mind. There was no point in overthinking it. It was better to familiarize himself with the newly acquired superpowers while the others were still unconscious.

The soft morning sunlight filtered through the paper doors, casting a gentle glow on the tatami mat, creating a peaceful atmosphere. Ander stood in the center of the room, having just managed to grasp the basic use of his superpowers after a few awkward attempts, with a look of excitement and experimentation on his face.

Suddenly, an idea flashed through his mind. "With anti-gravity, how high can I jump?" Before the thought was finished, he focused his mind and released an invisible energy, then jumped upward with force. However, things didn't go as planned. A loud "thud" echoed as his head hit the ceiling, causing him to gasp in pain and groan, holding his forehead, "Oh, shit!"

At that moment, laughter erupted from behind him. Alexa, Celine, and Anllela had already woken up and were leaning against the door of the tatami room, laughing uncontrollably at the sight. Alexa even had tears in her eyes as she laughed, "Haha… Ander, how did you come up with such a funny move?"
