The Executioner of Horror Films

Chapter 2: Hunting in the shadows

Part One: Hunting in the shadows

The night plunged the world into deep darkness when I found myself at the edge of the forest, a mysterious place where only bloodlust and fear reigned. Dense trees towered overhead, their branches like curved arms ready to grab me. I took a step forward, and every sound seemed to echo in the silence—this was my first real hunt.

Despite the fact that the night was beautiful with its sinister beauty, my heart remained cold and indifferent, as always. I've been thinking about what's ahead of me. Jason Voorhees is a name that is akin to nightmares artificially created in people's imaginations. But now it's not just a myth; it's my reality.

I turned deeper into the forest, observing the algorithm of my system. The target appeared on the map, a yellow marker that pulsed with the rhythm of my heart. Suddenly, I heard a rustle — my fingers instinctively tightened on the handle of the knife that the system had given me at the moment. But it wasn't Jason, but a group of teenagers who were around the campfire, not far from me.

I paused. They laughed, telling scary stories about maniacs, surrounding themselves with the light of hope, as if he could protect them. I realized that this was my opportunity to ingratiate myself with them. And I needed to find out who they were before I acted.

I approached them cautiously, hiding in the shadows of the trees. The lyceum, with expressive features, pale blue eyes and long blond hair, was the focus of their attention. He seemed to be the head of the company, and his ironic jokes either scared or made his friends laugh. Next to him sat a girl with dark curls and a great interest in mysticism, who listened to him with genuine pleasure, sometimes fearfully pursing her lips. Her friend, with constant laughter, tried to keep up the conversation about how you can survive in horror movies. There was also a couple in their company who held onto each other all the time, expressing their love and sincerity.

Did you hear that Jason has reappeared? — the Lyceum said, and his words seemed to create a crack of fear in the air. "Everyone who got in his way doesn't survive anymore."

I started to step out of the shadows when I saw that fear was imperceptibly enveloping them. They were vulnerable, but they weren't my targets at the moment. I should have started with Jason.

At one point, I said in a restrained voice, "You need to get out of here." Everyone looked in my direction with bewilderment and wariness. I felt their eyes piercing me, and I knew that I couldn't seem like an ordinary person. They needed reassurance and comfort, but I wasn't the one who was willing to provide that.

Who are you? Serena asked, her voice trembling with fear.

"You don't understand that if you stay here, Jason will kill you. I already felt that they believed me, and I realized that I had managed to evoke a slight fear. This is a chance to save them, but at the same time, I was plotting a strategy.

How do you know? Jake said, his voice filled with disbelief.

I sighed and added, "I... I come from another world." I have to kill Jason to save you. But it needs your help. If you help me, we will have chances.

He's probably some kind of joker," Tony commented mockingly, but the Lyceum reached out to him and said: Maybe he's right. Maybe this is our only chance to survive?

There was silence between us for a second, and then everyone nodded at the same time. I felt my insides fill with hatred for Jason, but also the need to protect these people. Each of them was a potential victim, and now I had to prepare them for what awaits us.

We quickly discussed the plan, and I explained that Jason has his well-known tactics. I tried to look them in the eye, and for a moment, it seemed to me, I saw an unyielding faith in the willingness to help and protect each other. But Jason's drive was stronger. Each of us took a risk.

Now I knew it was time to act. We gathered, and I led them to the forest, drawing a route based on the signs that the system gave me.

As we walked, I felt like every step was leading us to future confrontations. The tension grew as darkness covered us, and the forest became more and more gloomy. I was listening for every sound, every movement, and I had my knife ready.

Listen up! I whispered, and everyone froze. From the depths of the forest, the sound of a hurricane could be heard, announcing the approaching horror. I knew it was him. Jason.
