The Executioner of Horror Films

Chapter 5: Executioner in a quiet place

Part one

*On behalf of Mark*

I opened my eyes when the light blinded me for a moment. It was a new world filled with a light disturbing silence entering every slit of it. "A quiet place" - the name spoke for itself. Here, fear was in the air like an invisible threat, ready to absorb any sounds. I stood among abandoned buildings and empty streets, feeling how this world absorbs any manifestations of life.

Despite the situation, emotions did not fill my soul. This world was gloomy and cold, and I'm here to carry out the mission without fear or excitement. I was here to solve the problem of destroying the creatures terrorizing the locals. I was a stranger, but it didn't change anything.

I turned to my system. My current situation was displayed on the screen:

**Current system glasses: 1000**

**[Shop]**

- AK-12 - 100 points

- The power of "Telekinesis" [Carrie from the movie] - 900 points

- Virtual assistant - 300 points

I thought about the options. Realizing that I need firepower, I decided to buy AK-12 and the power of Telekinesis, to be able to save the main characters if they separate from me.

As soon as I made purchases, the system notified me:

**System:**

**Purchased: AK-12 (100 points). **

**Purchased: The power of "Telekinesis" (Carrie from the movie) (900 points)**

**Current system glasses: 0**

While I was activating telekinesis, a new feeling lit up inside me. I wanted a battle.

*On behalf of Lee*

Dusty devils danced on the cracked ground, a mocking ballet over the ghost of their farm.

It was silence - suffocating, ubiquitous silence that absorbed the whole world, silence full of invisible threads. They called them Creepers: blind, leathery creatures who hunted by the sound of footsteps, by the whisper of the name.

Lee remembered the day when there was silence, a day that promised to begin with a heated blueberry pie and a light laugh of Riley chasing chickens in the yard. But on the day when the earth tremored. It was not an earthquake, but a sickening crunch, as if the bone was splitting under great pressure, a sound that made its way to the bone marrow. The last sounds of the old world.

Panic broke out in Lee's chest. He led Evelyn and Riley to the basement, their faces were scared. The walls seemed depressing, and the dim light of the burst light bulb only increased the tension.

- What happened? - Evelyn asked, looking around.

- I don't know for sure, but it's close," Lee replied, trying to speak confidently, although his heart was pounding. - We can't stay upstairs.

Riley squeezed Evelyn's hand, trying to calm himself down. It was dark and humid in the basement, and every sound was heard in silence, like a loud bell.

- Do we have a supply of food and water? - Riley asked quietly.

- Yes, I was somewhere, - Lee nodded, - but we need to be on our guard..

Suddenly, a crack was heard. All three of them held their breath, listening. Lee quickly approached the door, pressing his ear to the cold surface.

- It can't be just the wind... - Evelyn whispered, her eyes widening with fear.

Lee looked at them convincingly:

- We must stay together and keep calm.

At that moment, a strong knock on the door was heard. Lee stood between the family and the door, preparing for any development of events.

Lee took a deep breath, preparing for what would happen next. The blow to the door was repeated, and the wooden panels began to crack. The heart beat in time with the steps that approached them with every second.

- Hurry up, hide! - Lee shouted, pushing Evelyn and Riley into a dark corner of the basement.

The door crashed into the wall when a terrible creature covered with stubble and scales broke inside. It was huge, with sharp claws, Lee stood opposite it, his hand clutching the nearest object - an old bat.

- Don't approach them! - he shouted, feeling fear piercing him deeper and deeper.

The monster roared, preparing for the attack. Li gathered all his courage, but at the last moment, when the beast's mouth opened, preparing to pounce on him, a loud shot was heard in the basement.

As if a mysterious man in a black coat appeared out of nowhere, his black hair fluttered, and his bright red eyes, hidden behind his glasses, sparkled with an ominous light. He had a machine gun in his hands, which rattled incessantly when he shot at the monster.

The creature, surprisingly quickly, was thrown back and fell to the floor with a crack. Lee, confused, just looked at the savior, not believing that all this was happening.

- Are you okay? - the mysterious man asked, still not taking off his glasses.

- Yes, - Lee shouted, looking up. - Who are you?

- Friend, - he answered briefly, then added, - but we need to leave before we come yet.

Evelyn and Riley, still scared, carefully left their hiding place. Now that the threat has passed, they decided what to do next. Mysterious, the man looked at them from the outside, his expression remained impenetrable.

- Let's go. We don't have much time," he said, pointing to the exit.

Lee hesitated, not knowing whether to trust this stranger, but inside he there was a burning desire to survive.

- My name is Mark, - said the mysterious man, his voice sounded cold and detached. - I just have to save you, and that's it.

Lee looked at him in disbelief, but there was no time to ask questions.

"Forward," Mark repeated, still not showing emotions. He picked up the machine gun, looking around the basement.

Evelyn and Riley exchanged worried glances, but realized that they had no choice. Lee was the first to go to the exit, followed by Mark.
