Chapter 13: Odd Couple
However, before Ming Yue could go near him, the man left decisively after getting the steward's bow and even entering a car directly in front of the main gate.
Although still suspicious of such a man, her alertness decreased due to his high-profile manner.
Getting back to herself, her mind wandered to the five wealthy families from the Capital.
[Ling, Huo, Sheng, and?? Quick, quick! Tell me!]
Despite her eagerness to hear her names, she was also joking whether all such wealthy families had similar names across the world as well as various novels.
For some reason, she found even the names familiar similar to how she felt about Zhi Ying's name.
It promptly grew her curiosity as Ming Yue rarely had the leisure to enjoy life as she could do now.
All her previous life, she'd either been busy with her spy work or training for it, so she rarely got rest and had to basically, steal from her own time to enjoy her hobbies.
And it seemed that hearing the idle gossip was bringing her closer to finding the source of that faint familiarity.
"...Fu and Chi families aren't to be looked down upon!"
Finally getting the two other names, Ming Yue completely filtered out rest of the dile chatter.
[So we have Huo, Ling, Sheng, Fu and Chi?? Sounds about right, but which family does Zhi Ying belong to then?]
In the end, Ming Yue wisely choose to use expert's advice.
She used her phone to search about the five families and the feeling of familiarity turned into vague strangeness.
[Why does it feel like none of them can compare to Zhi Ying's family?]
Nearby, Zhi Ying who heard it couldn't help but feel her heart skip a beat.
After all, very few people knew about the true rich families, also labelled as Aristocratic families or low-key wealthy families.
As those families couldn't afford to have stupid second generation heirs or those idiotic enough to show off flamboyantly.
Or else, they would've also been swallowed up by the government or other small greedy families.
Their roots were centuries old, not merely a few decades which were built upon the blood, sweat, and tears of their ancestors and every member.
If one of their children was idiotic or useless, they'd hand over the company to the most suitable one.
There weren't much scruples with uncle nephew or brothers fighting for inheritance.
Heck, even the Cie family in a small province could think of having their daughter as the heir instead of their son.
That's why they were better than even those five wealthy families from the capital in the eyes of the truly rich.
After all, they didn't have a gender bias and could not care less about such stuff.
If their daughter was the heir, many men would willingly marry into their family, so why would they bother giving away their wealth.
And such families typically liked to marry into either one another or distant relatives to keep their bloodlines and wealth consolidated.
Of course, there were also situations of marrying foreigners or other cases, but they were fairly rare.
Zhi Ying, who belonged to one such family, was actually shocked out of her wits after hearing Ming Yue's wild guesses and wanted to distract her with something.
Becauseshe knew it was far worse to offend such people than even the police!
The police might just put you behind the bars and convict you in court...
But such people... they could truly break one's spirit and make them give up on life.
Yet Zhi Ying only felt concern for Ming Yue should she end up getting involved in such complicated situations.
Instead of feeling concern for herself as she hailed from one such family, Zhi Ying's thoughts were truly out of place.
Meanwhile, the perpetrator of it all was actually enjoying the food happily as if everything that transpired earlier was no big deal.
Everything was just passing by for her as Ming Yue really didn't care.
Even cheap provocations would've worked but no one bothered with her after that Tianfu Electronics Director's farce.
Plus, wasn't it better to curry favor with the Shen Family and their regained daughter?
Thus, Ming Yue found herself unrestrained with meaningless talks that didn't mean anything.
So, she did what she was best at:
Eating Melons while enjoying snacks!
[Wow! How can there be such a scene! I wanna see]
Suddenly, her eyes lit up as her gaze bore into a man who was talking to another fair skinned younger man.
The gossip she heard this time was actually quite bland, but it was better than nothing.
[This man has a wife but has been busy trying to find a little lover to test his sexuality!]
[...and! Drumrolls! His wife actually knows!!]
Sadly, the man was unaware that his wife knew of his little rendezvous these past few days.
But she didn't care!
[Hahahahahhahahahahahahahhahah]
[Such an interesting couple! One is trying to see if he is gay while his wife is certain she is not into men! She wanted to bring it out and divorce when she discovered his little secret!]
[Now, it's just a game of Tag!]
Hearing those excited shouts which changed the topic completely left Zhi Ying bewildered but she unconsciously relaxed.
Of coursez her gaze drifted to this off couple as she also wanted to see what they looked like.
Alas, she wasn't sure who Ming Yu was referring to.
If only she knew that Ming Yue was talking about the designer she was talking to and her husband, Zhi Ying would be too stunned to speak.
Still, no new drama exploded except for Ming Yue reading a few more with the help of her system and the event concluded somewhat successfully.
Let's just forget how Shen Pei'er failed to become the limelight due to the scandal and the event indeed concluded quite well.
"Finally, it's over," Ming Yue sighed in a corner while the Shen couple and sibling pair greeted the parting guests.
Zhi Ying had left a bit early due to her growing suspicions of her own agent which she had to discuss, but she didn't miss out on anything so it was fine.
Of course, Ming Yue wasn't interested in anything so she directly headed back to her room to get a good night's rest.
"Tomorrow, I'll plan my escape!"
