Chapter 10: Learning the hard way!
"What you have done wrong, huh, nya?" Paws said, his voice laced with fury. His eyes burned with anger, and his usual mocking tone was replaced with something far more dangerous.
I stood there, glaring back at him. So what if he's angry? Am I supposed to cower like a child?
He continued, stepping closer. "Didn't I tell you NOT to use Drain Touch, nya? But you still did it anyway, nya…" His sharp eyes were locked on me, his anger like a physical weight.
But I wasn't going to back down. Not this time.
"What does he think I am, huh? A baby who needs a babysitter?" I thought, my frustration boiling over.
I took a step forward, raising my voice to match his. "Yeah, so what? Look at me!" I spread my arms wide. "Nothing happened! NOTHING happened! I drained him dry and I'm STILL standing here, like it's nothing! You're just worrying for no reason, you… you worry rat!"
The moment the words left my mouth, I knew I'd made a mistake.
Paws' expression darkened, his teeth glinting as his devilish grin widened. His voice was low and cold as he said, "Nothing happened, nya? NOTHING happened? Let me tell you, nya—it was ME who made sure nothing happened. But humans…" He scoffed. "Humans are always ungrateful, nya. It's not even your fault. You're BUILT this way, nya. You ungrateful scum..."
I froze, a cold chill running down my spine.
"Fine," Paws continued, his tone dripping with disdain. "Let me show you what would've happened if I hadn't interfered, nya. Let's see if you survive this, nya!"
Before I could respond, a system window appeared in front of me:
---
> SYSTEM NOTIFICATION
All limitations and restrictions have been lifted. All the level-up stats that were stacked will now be applied.
---
The words blinked ominously, and my stomach sank.
---
> 3…

---
Then another warning flashed:
---
> WARNING! WARNING!
User's body cannot handle the sudden growth and power!
> Attempting to limit...
Limitation protocols have been turned off.
> All stats will now be assigned without restriction.
Please brace yourself—your body may explode.
---
I stared in horror, my mouth dry, as the countdown finished. My body began to tremble uncontrollably.
"Wait… WAIT!" I shouted, panic flooding my voice.
Paws floated just above me, his grin never faltering. "Oh, don't worry, nya. You said you're fine, right? Let's see how fine you are now, nya."
The pain hit me like a freight train, searing through every nerve in my body. It wasn't just pain—it was agony, as if my entire body was on fire. And that? That was just the trailer. The main event was still coming.
I rolled on the slimy ground, left and right, writhing as the torment surged. My muscles stretched and tore internally, every fiber ripping apart and knitting back together in a cycle of endless destruction and rebirth. My veins bulged, pulsing violently as if they might burst at any moment and shower the world in fountains of blood.
My vision blurred, my eyes rolling back as a scream tore from my throat—a raw, primal scream. It was so guttural, so drenched in pain, that anyone who heard it would have passed out from the sheer horror.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
My legs twitched and spasmed uncontrollably. The muscles in my tiny body bulked unnaturally, inflating and contorting like a balloon about to pop. I wasn't a person anymore—I was just a husk, a container for this unstoppable storm of power trying to rip me apart from the inside.
I couldn't think, couldn't form words. All I could do was scream.
Through the haze of torment, one figure floated above me, unmoved by my suffering. Paws.
He hovered there with a stoic expression, watching my agony like an observer taking notes. His eyes seemed to say, If you don't fix your behavior, this is what your life will become.
Tears streamed down my face as I looked up at him. My body trembled violently, my soul screaming in apology. I tried to form the words, I'm sorry. I won't do it again. But my lips wouldn't work. The pain was too much, choking every thought, every attempt to speak.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
The screams didn't stop, my voice raw and hoarse.
Pawa finally raised a paw, looking down at me as if deciding I'd learned my lesson. With a snap of his fingers, the world turned black.
My screams were silenced, my body collapsing into stillness. Consciousness slipped away, and I sank into oblivion. My mind went blank.
---
I didn't know how many hours—or days—had passed while I was unconscious. I had no clue what was happening to my body or what was going on outside.
When I finally woke up, I groggily opened my eyes… and froze.
It was like I was in a room filled with light. The darkness that had surrounded me before was completely gone. Even though I'd been able to see in the dark earlier, this was different—everything was crystal clear, sharp and vibrant, as if darkness didn't even exist.
I tried to stand, pressing my hands against the ground to push myself up, testing my body to see if it was working. After all that pain… can I even walk?
The memories flashed vividly—my hands and feet rolling and breaking, my veins popping, my screams filling the air.
I hesitated, but then pushed myself up.
...And immediately found myself in the air.
"Huh?" I gasped. I had only pushed slightly, but my body felt so light that I was floating on my hands, completely weightless.
"Ohhhh, what's going on?! Let me stand on my feet, damn it!" I muttered, flailing slightly before landing.
Curious, I tried jumping a little, testing this newfound lightness.
"Suuuuhhhh!" I shot straight up, soaring through the air.
"Hahahaha! I'm flying! I'm flying!" I shouted, full of excitement.
Thud!
My head slammed into the top of the snake's belly, halting my glorious ascent in the most painful way possible.
I fell back to the ground, clutching my head. "Ahhh! Ouch! That hurt!" I grumbled, rubbing the sore spot.
Just then, a system window popped up:
---
> System Notification
Dealing significant damage to "Zirthal, Guardian Serpent of the Forest."
Level Up x2!
---
"What?! I just… hit my head and that dealt damage?!" I stared at the window, the pain momentarily forgotten. "Ohhh, cool! I'm Superman now!" I shouted, grinning like an idiot.
"YEAHHHHH!" I screamed in excitement, throwing my hands up… only for my gaze to fall on something that wiped the smile clean off my face.
Floating above me, arms folded and eyebrows raised, was Paws.
"What do you think you're doing, nya?" he asked, his tone full of judgment.
The shock, the pain, and the suffering I had just experienced rushed back to me in an instant. My body instinctively stumbled back, my knees shaking as if I'd seen a ghost.
"Ah! M-Me? I wasn't doing anything!" I stammered, mumbling nonsense as I tried to avoid his wrath. "I swear I wasn't doing anything! I-I was just stretching! Yeah! Just stretching my body! It felt strange, so I was just testing this… this weird lightness and strength! Nothing else!"
Paws floated there, unimpressed, his sharp gaze cutting through my pathetic excuse.
"So now you understand what happens if you don't follow my words, huh, nya?" he said, his tone sarcastic and biting.
I panicked, bowing my head in submission. "No! I won't! I would never go against Sir Pawsington the Magnificent! I don't know what possessed me to disobey you, sir! Please accept this humble one's apology, sir!"
My whole body trembled as I begged. The mere thought of experiencing that pain again made my stomach churn. Humans were supposed to learn from their mistakes, and trust me, I had learned.
Paws puffed out his chest, clearly basking in the praise. "Well, don't worry, nya. I'm magnanimous, nya. I'll forgive you this once, nya," he said, looking entirely too pleased with himself.
Then he added smugly, "Since I've been so merciful, nya, check your status window, nya! I made sure you didn't die, nya. So praise me more, nya!"
I barely registered his demand for more praise. I was too curious about the changes to my status.
"Status!" I said eagerly.
The window appeared, and my eyes widened as I stared at it. Only one word slipped from my mouth:
"Holy shiteee..."
