Chapter 11: Blood Frenzy
"Now you get it, nya! Praise me, nya!" Paws demanded, puffing out his chest and floating higher, trying to act all mighty and smug.
I wasn't paying him much attention, though. My eyes were glued to my stats window, and I was stunned. They're leagues apart from before! I'm unstoppable now! This… this is incredible!
But I knew I couldn't ignore him forever. He'd keep pestering me until I caved, and besides… I guess I did owe him one for keeping me alive.
"Yes, yes!" I said, feigning humility as I clasped my hands together dramatically. "Oh, Sir Pawsington the Magnificent, I'm so grateful that you've guided this lost lamb. Please forgive me for my past transgressions!"
Paws floated back a bit, clearly taken aback by the praise. His smug expression wavered for a moment, replaced by one of slight embarrassment.
"Well… uh… it's okay, nya," he muttered, rubbing the back of his head with his paw. "Just forget it, nya."
Before I could respond, the ground beneath us began to rumble violently. The snake's belly shifted, quaking as if the beast itself had decided to take action.
I stumbled backward, flailing my arms as the tremors grew stronger. "For God's sake, when are you gonna STOP?!" I shouted, my voice trembling with the vibrations.
The movements threw me into the air, bouncing me up and down like some kind of ragdoll. "Ahhh!" I yelped, floating helplessly before crashing back to the sticky ground.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the rumbling subsided. My head was spinning as I struggled to stand, muttering under my breath, "I think we should escape from here first, Sir Paws. What do you say?"
Paws, floating with a determined look, cracked his tiny knuckles. "Yes, nya! Let's break out of here now, nya!"
"Alright then," I said, steadying myself. I closed my eyes and tried to recall the feeling from before—the moment Paws had shoved my face into the blood wall and my fangs had erupted. As the memory resurfaced, I felt the familiar sharpness returning.
Opening my eyes, I grinned as my fangs extended once more. I didn't hesitate. This time, I wasn't some low-level baby who could barely hold on for a few minutes. My stats were different now. I'm stronger. I'm faster. And I'm about to make this snake regret ever swallowing me.
"Let's suck him dry, shall we?" I said with a wicked grin, plunging my fangs into the wall and feeding like there was no tomorrow.
As I sank my fangs into the wall, the familiar surge of energy returned, amplified to an entirely new level. A system window flashed before my eyes:
---
> System Notification
Blood Frenzy Activated!
---
My vision tinged red as the primal urge to consume took over. My body, already powerful, felt like it was transforming once again. Every muscle bulged with raw strength, every fiber of my being heightening as if I were entering a berserk state. My grip on the wall tightened, and I fed relentlessly, savoring the incredible rush of power with every drop of blood.
More system messages started popping up rapidly:
---
> The Guardian Serpent of the Forest's health is decreasing!
The Guardian Serpent of the Forest's health is decreasing!

The notifications kept stacking as I drank deeper.
I know what this looks like—I'm in a baby's body, chugging blood like some vampiric lunatic. Sounds wrong, I know. But you have to trust me—this blood? It's the most delicious thing I've ever tasted in my life.
With every drop, I felt like I was having the best meal of my existence. I didn't care what anyone else would think. This was my moment, and I was having an absolute blast.
The serpent's body began to weaken, its movements slowing to nothing. I didn't stop until the system window popped up one last time:
---
> System Notification

I looked at my stats and grinned wide. "Ohhh, baby. Now this is what I'm talking about!" I muttered, clenching my fists, feeling the overwhelming power flowing through me.
The poor snake didn't stand a chance. And now? I was stronger than I'd ever dreamed.
As I sucked the snake dry, its massive body stumbled and collapsed onto the ground with a final, earth-shaking thud. The vibrations nearly knocked me over, but I managed to keep my balance, standing triumphantly.
Paws floated nearby, circling me with wide eyes. "Wow, nya! You really didn't hold back on him, nya! Were you that thirsty, nya?" he said, a mix of shock and disbelief coloring his tone.
Everything was going so well. I felt unstoppable. But in my momentary happiness, I forgot one crucial thing -the Blood Frenzy was still at its peak. My senses were heightened to an unbearable degree, and my mind was clouded by the primal urge to feed.
My eyes burned red, my vision tunneling.
Yeah, I know. I promised myself I wouldn't make the same mistakes again. But hey, what kind of human would I be if I didn't commit new ones?
The realization hit me too late. My senses blanked out completely, and before I knew it, I leapt at Paws, fangs bared.
Yep. I tried to feed on Paws. A cat. But, of course, not just any cat. A system cat. A cat with alter egos, a superiority complex, and-worst of all-a grudge-holder.
As I lunged at him, he yelped in shock, floating back just in time. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING, NYA?!" he screeched, his voice full of panic.
I didn't stop, growling as I swiped at him with my tiny, bloodthirsty hands.
"ARE YOU GONE MAD, NYA?! I KNEW IT! HUMANS CAN'T BE TRUSTED, NYA!" he yelled, his tone shifting from panic to anger.
Before I could get close again, he raised his paw, his eyes gleaming with fiery indignation. "Oh no, nya. You're NOT getting away with this, nya!"
WHAM!
His paw struck me with the force of a meteor, sending me flying across the snake's belly. My body crumpled against the slimy wall, and everything went dark.
The last thing I heard before slipping into unconsciousness was his furious voice: "Serves you right, nya! Learn some self-control, nya!"
And just like that, I was out cold, my body throbbing with pain and regret.
