The First Vampire Beast Tamer

Chapter 19: Ashmane Tribe

Sure! Here's the rewritten version with your style and tone preserved:

As the dogs carried us deeper into the forest, I decided to just let bygones be bygones. What's the point of stressing? I mean, what's done is done. So, I just laid there, looking up at the sky. The way they were moving—faster than any car I'd ever seen—was impressive, but it felt so smooth, like gliding on thin air. No bumps, no noise, nothing. It was honestly kind of boring.

And you'll agree, right? A smooth ride might be nice for a minute, but after a while, it's just dull. Nothing exciting, just trees after trees. Even my body, with its new vampiric enhancements and all—felt bored out of its mind. So, I thought, Why not take a little nap? I mean, even Paws was napping, right? What's the harm in catching a few Z's?

With that, I let myself drift off. Who cares where we were going or when we'd get there? A nap never hurt anyone...

I don't know how much time passed, but one thing's for sure—no matter how long I sleep, it's never enough. Like, seriously, naps are supposed to make you feel better, not leave you craving more.

I woke up to Captain grabbing me and dropping me on the ground.

"AHHHHHHHHHH!"

"Ouch!" I groaned, lying there for a second. I opened my eyes to find myself sprawled on the dirt. Like, what the actual hell? Do these dogs not know basic manners? First rule—don't drop delicate baby humans! Second rule—never wake someone from a nap unless it's life or death!

Still grumbling, I stood up and brushed the dirt off my tiny body, glaring at Captain. I looked around to see where they'd brought us.

It was an old, massive tent—huge, patched-up, and weathered. And ohhh, there he was. Another mutt. A big one at that.

This one was different, though. You could just feel the overbearing aura coming off him. He was bigger, more imposing, with streaks of white running through his shiny silver mane. His sharp yellow eyes looked like they could see right through you. Compared to him, Captain and Grams looked like wet puppies.

Captain lowered his head respectfully, his tone firm and formal. "We greet our Chieftain." Grams followed suit, his head dipping low in the same manner.

Ohhh, so this guy is the big boss. Makes sense, with that whole "I could crush you with a look" vibe he's got going on.

The Chieftain stepped forward, staring right at me with those piercing eyes. He didn't say anything at first, just studied me. I couldn't move, frozen in place like his stare had pinned me to the spot.

He stopped a few feet away, leaned down to my level, and spoke in a deep, commanding voice.

"You understand us, don't you, little boy?"

Captain spoke up, his voice steady and formal, "We found him while patrolling the forest's borders, Chief. He was lying under a girl."

Hyyy, don't say it like that! I thought, cringing internally. That sounds… sounds weird if you say it out loud. I had already explained myself—I had to survive, okay?! You can't blame a baby for doing what it takes not to die. I'd like to live, thank you very much.

As I was trying to mentally defend myself again, the Chief's deep, commanding voice rang out. "So, you do understand us, don't you? Human child!"

Grams, the hyper one, couldn't keep his mouth shut, I guess. "How is this possible, Chief? There's no way a human can understand us! How can this child understand? I bet he can't even speak properly at that age!"

Captain snapped, his voice booming like thunder. "Shut up, Grams! Are you questioning our Chief right now?!"

Grams backed off immediately, ears flattened and gaze dropping to the ground like a scolded puppy. He even tried to hide his face with his paws, mumbling something unintelligible.

Captain turned to the Chief and lowered his head. "I apologize for his rudeness, Chief. He's just a little… impatient."

The Chief chuckled softly, shaking his large head. "No, no. You don't have to feel sorry, my friend Kael. You know I don't like all this 'high Chief' treatment. Just leave it. And you, Grams—you didn't do anything wrong. It's good to be knowledgeable and curious."

Kael a.k.a Captain , still looking like he had a stick up his fur, said firmly, "We can't, Chief. You know that."

The Chief sighed, shaking his mane like he was disappointed. "Oh, how cold. I would prefer it if you did, though, Kael."

Kael hesitated for a moment, clearing his throat awkwardly. "Ahem… Okay, I'll try, Chief. If this is what pleases you."

The Chief grinned, looking fondly at Kael. "I knew you were my good friend."

Um, HELLO? Did they just forget about me? I thought, staring at them incredulously as they casually chatted like I didn't exist. They were acting as if this was some cozy fireside reunion, while I was standing here—small, confused, and very much still a baby! Yep, they all need some serious lessons on manners.

But before I could say anything, the Chief turned his gaze back to me, his yellow eyes gleaming like they were holding secrets. "Now, let me tell you a story that has been passed down in our Ashmane Tribe."

He paused dramatically, his voice carrying the weight of something ancient. "It's more of a prophecy than a story! Long ago, it was said that when a human arrives—one who can understand us, our language, as if he is one of us—that human will resonate with us to our very core. When that person arrives, we will finally be liberated from the reign of the Guardians of the Forest and be free at last."

The Chief's voice softened, turning nostalgic. "My father used to tell me this story at night, and I always thought it was just a fairy tale created so we wouldn't lose hope. But never did I think it would come true… and in this form, no less."

He looked down at me, a mixture of awe and disbelief in his expression. "That person… that human will end the reign of the Guardians of the Forest—"

Wait. My brain clicked. I raised my hand instinctively, like I was in school, trying to let the teacher know I'd already done my homework. "Uh, if… you're talking about that guardian snake… what was his name again? Ah, yeah, Zirthal. Then he's already dead! I killed him last night."

Silence.

The Chief, Kael, and Grams all turned to look at me like I'd just told them I'd discovered the secret to immortality. Their eyes went wide—and I mean WIDE. Their mouths dropped open, tongues practically lolling out in disbelief.

And then, in perfect unison, all three of them shouted, "WHATTTTT?!"
