Chapter 256: Rise of the Hero

If Butch was so strong, how could he be stuck in this ironworks with them?

Mayor Herman puffed out his chest.

His large belly had shrunk a lot due to the hard work over the past few days, and he was feeling a bit more energetic.

"So, what do you think we should do? Can you beat these demons?"

Mayor Herman thought scornfully: If Butch could fight them, why would he be trapped here like the rest of us?

But then Butch clapped his hands and calmly said to the workers inside the ironworks, "If you're so scared, just hide behind me."

The townspeople already knew how strong Butch was.

At first, they were afraid of him, but now that he stepped forward, they actually felt more reassured.

As Butch walked ahead, the townspeople and players quickly hid behind him, even pushing Mayor Herman aside.

Mayor Herman watched Butch's tall, strong back and suddenly thought: Maybe this guy really can deal with the demons.

Butch strode forward, grabbed two demons by the necks, and flung them aside.

The force was so strong that everyone flinched just from the sound.

The demons realized Butch was the toughest one in the group, so they all turned around to attack him and make him their primary target.

"Be careful!" someone shouted to Butch.

Butch let out a small snort, showing a look of disdain.

The next second, flames suddenly burst out in front of him, engulfing the demons in fire.

In no time, they were reduced to black ashes.

The people that were hiding behind Butch were stunned when they saw the flames.

These weren't the usual orange-yellow flames of a furnace; the center of the flames had a white color.

Maybe that was why it hurt the demons so much.

Although this group of demons was destroyed, more demons were still pouring in from outside.

Butch was the first one to step out of the ironworks.

Seeing the smoke rising from all over the city, he snorted, "So this is why they kept me in Ulon City, huh?"

Well then, it was time for him to take action.

The people from the ironworks followed him outside.

They were a bit far from the center of Ulon City, so they didn't know what was happening until now.

Their eyes widened in shock.

"What? How could this be?"

"Has Ulon City been breached?"

They asked in panic.

They had thought they were safe in Ulon City, but now it seemed there was no difference.

Butch took a step forward but paused when he heard their questions.

He turned back and shouted, "Hey, find a place to hide. It'll all be over soon."

With that, the wings suddenly came out the back of his body, cutting through his shirt, and with a single flap, he was flying and rushing toward Ulon City.

Mayor Herman had thought Butch would stay to protect them, but to his surprise, Butch flew off without a second thought.

He was stunned, stammering, "But if you leave, what are we supposed to do?"

Butch, already far away, couldn't hear him anymore.

All Mayor Herman could do was stand there, hand feeling helpless.

When he turned back to ask the others what to do, he saw that the ironworks workers had already quietly gone back inside, not wanting to cause any trouble.

Herman had no other choice but to follow them inside.

Up in the sky, Butch had a better view.

He could clearly see many demons that were crowding around the city gate.

In the middle, there was a small circle forming—it looked like someone was trapped there.

Butch frowned.

His sharp eyes spotted the Royal Knights struggling to hold their ground against the demons.

He shifted his position and dove toward them.

When the barrier was first broken, Jenlyns had received the news.

The vice-captain of the knights had suggested they fall back into Ulon City, but Jenlyns quickly refused.

Jenlyns knew that if they retreated now, Ulon City would truly be doomed.

He had to stop the demons' advance, so he insisted on staying at the city gate.

The vice-captain tried hard to convince him, but Jenlyns said, "Even if I have to sacrifice my life, I'll stop the demons here. Don't try to talk me out of it!"

"If I don't make it, you'll lead the Royal Knights. The rest will be in your hands."

The vice-captain fell silent, and before leaving, he showed Jenlyns the highest respect.

He took his men to support other areas, leaving Jenlyns and just over ten knights behind.

But now, their numbers have dwindled to just five.

They were reaching their limit.

The demons were just too many.

At that moment, when Jenlyns saw the demons rushing at him, he felt like his life was about to end.

Then, out of the corner of his eye, he spotted someone diving down from the sky, landing heavily on the ground.

Jenlyns felt the ground vibrate and looked in amazement toward the figure, realizing that he had been saved.

Jenlyns waved his hand, coughing as he brushed away the lingering dust.

Once the dust finally cleared, Jenlyns could see what had happened.

The scene before him was shocking—there stood a muscular man with his bare upper body, standing at the center of a deep crater.

Around him lay countless unconscious demons.

It was clear that this man had dealt with the demons; otherwise, Jenlyns wouldn't still be alive.

Looking at the man's face, Jenlyns thought he looked familiar.

Where had he seen him before?

However, before he could figure it out, Butch greeted him first.

"Hey, are you with the Royal Knights? What are you still doing here? Hurry up and leave."

Jenlyns suddenly remembered.

He had seen this man at the ironworks before, and Hanjun had mentioned him.

Hanjun had told him that if he ever faced a problem he couldn't solve, he should find Butch at the ironworks.

At the time, Jenlyns thought, "If I can't solve it, what good would it do to find someone else?"
