Chapter 60: Looking For Death In All The Right Places
Bane grumbled to himself as he walked back to the Training hall, ignoring the stare of everyone around him, but Bane was glad to see older faces everywhere, and no kids. The last month had been strange for Bane, but now that he had an adult body, he would be able to train better and use more mana. This meant that just by growing bigger, Bane had grown almost twice as strong thanks to his mana veins, but since Lysia gave them to him, she was the same.
Once he reached the Training Hall, Bane slowed down and crept inside as he tried to look everywhere at once. He hoped that Lysia had left the room, and then he would just sneak his way in. This was Bane's true area of expertise after all. In his past life, he was one of the most notorious thieves in all of Neo-Tokyo, but this was a new world, and the people in it were not normal.
Just as he was about to get inside the building, a large bolt of electricity shot out at him, and he was sent flying across the street and into a tree. His entire body seized up, and his teeth were clenched together so hard he was afraid his teeth would crack. Bane hadn't expected her to be waiting for him and had to take the full brunt of the attack, and then the tree collapsed on top of him.
"Dammit! What the hell, woman?! It was an accident! Can't you be an adult about this?!" Bane shouted from under the tree, and he heard a small humph from Lysia, but then barely caught the ball of clothing that was thrown at him.
"Bilgarth is waiting for you, and don't come home until you are done with all your training! Pervert! I knew this would happen!" Lysia yelled at him and then stormed back into the training hall in a green dress that covered her entire body, even up her neck, just stopping below her chin.
"What? That is it? And here I thought she was going to try and kill me again," Bane whispered to himself, but then quickly got dressed in the black pants, red shirt, and green coat, none of it matching.
"I can hear you," Lysia's voice rang out, making Bane jump.
"No, you can't! I am already gone! Order something good for dinner!" Bane called as he jumped in the air up onto a nearby roof. Once he landed, Bane turned back to make another smart remark, but Lysia was already one step ahead of him, hitting him square between the eyes with her shoe. Bane lost his balance, tipped back, and then fell off the roof and hit the ground, activating his mana veins just in time.
Lysia walked over to her shoe that was beside Bane, slipped in on, and then looked down at Bane who had rolled. "What do you want to eat?"
Bane looked up, but his eyes were immediately drawn to the fact that while Lysia's dress covered almost her entire body, the dress also fanned out. Bane tried not to look, but his eyes kept darting to the hem of the dress, and the skin that was exposed led up to bright yellow... "Uh, what?"
"Dinner. What do you want?"
"Oh, um, whatever yellow, I mean you want," Bane said, trying to keep his eyes focused on her face, but his eyes darted again. Lysia saw him this time, and her face turned bright red.
"Oh, you are just looking for death at every corner you turn today, aren't you?" Lysia growled, lifting her foot to stomp on Bane, but that gave him a full view of the cute pair of dots and a line that curved to make a smile on the front of her yellow panties. Ban also noted there was a frown on the back side of them, and burst out laughing, rolling away just in time.
"I love them! You really do have a sunny side and a frowny side! I was hoping to see your underwear, but that is way better than I expected!" Bane laughed, dodging the other shoe that was thrown at him as he got up and ran away from his angry soon-to-be-wife. Now that they had bodies like this, Bane did not doubt that Lysia would be dragging him in front of Bilgarth in the next few days.
Once Bane made it to the town hall, he headed inside to find Bilgarth still looking like an old giant. Bane hadn't expected him to change, but this only increased his suspicion of the old man being a Demi-God. Not that it meant anything to Bane at this point. There had been no information about them from Onyx's massive memory bank inside of his mind.
"So, you are all grown up now? Where is your other half?" Bilgarth laughed, then added, "I expected her to be the one dragging you in here!"
Bane sat down on the chair in front of Bilgarth's desk and then explained everything that had happened from the time he woke up until now. By the time he had finished the old man's beard was soaked from all the tears he cried laughing at Bane.
"Ha! So, that is why your face is all dirty! Oh, this is the best day I have had since the war ended! That is too rich! But, you really shouldn't be surprised that she has an explosive temper," Bilgarth said, wiping his eyes.
"Oh, trust me. I have dealt with the worst. She is like a little kitten compared to some of the ones I had to deal with back in the day. The difference is, if Lysia tries to stab or poison me, I can heal myself from that. The place where I was from didn't have magic, and I kind of like my woman to be spicy, but you can't argue that she is smart and beautiful. I can tank most of the abuse, and heal through the rest, plus she accepts me for the scoundrel I am," Bane said, and Bilgarth nodded his head.
"I will drink to that! It is not every day that a man can find a woman who is beautiful, smart, and a killer. Still, I know that you didn't come here to talk about your wife-to-be. Today, by request, you will be going to the shattered spoon first, and then Lady Harmony wants to see you after. If you have the time, go visit Madam Dory and train with Borat, but remember to be at the training hall every evening. You have to keep up with your training with Nina, and with Lysia in the evenings," Bilgarth told him, and Bane nodded his head.
"Yeah, I will head over to see Madam Stella right away, but who is this Lady Harmony? She sounds like a priest," Bane asked, and Bilgarth gave him a sideways glance.
"Oh, she is a priest alright, but not the kind that Lysia is," Bilgarth warned, but Bane let out an exaggerated sigh.
"Good. I would hate to have to deal with another woman like here, and Bilgarth put a hand over his face.
The old mountain of a man removed his hand from his face and then glared at Bane. "You really deserve everything she gives you, do you? Do you just go around courting death wherever you go? You had better not take Harmony Black lightly, or you will end up in more pain than Lysia could even dream of putting you through!"
"Oh, a new type of woman? This is great. Just don't be rude. Got it!" Bane confirmed, and then hopped off the chair and left.
Bilgarth watched him go, shaking his head at the now young man who was just a child a day ago, but that was the same for everyone around him. The world was changing, but the old man still didn't know what it all meant yet, he knew the boy was at the center of it all.
