The Married Life Of Immortals

Chapter 74: Bilgarth Frostfang, The Demigod

Bane left the Training hall with a big smile, feeling good about the results of the day. While the first part was not how he planned, Bane would be lying to say that hog tying that miserable woman and parading her through the village hadn't felt a bit satisfying. Still, he knew she wouldn't just let this go, and his training with her would most likely give him a view of the deepest parts of despair. Bane was no stranger to any of this, being tortured a few times in his past life after getting sold out.

It wasn't his first time being tortured, and wouldn't be his last. If he could survive it before, he could survive it again.

Bane made his way to the town hall, but along the way, he was stopped a few times as random people greeted him, and struck up small conversations. At first, Bane had considered ignoring them, but this was the first time that people were actually approaching him on their own. This, in Bane's eyes, was something that would happen a lot in the future, and being distant to friendly people was not a good image.

Thus, Bane took the time, and chatted with each person, surprisingly learning a bit more about the village than he had expected. Considering he had spent more than a month here, he had no idea that there were a good number of shops and services that didn't have stores or signage to show they offered any type of wares or services.

He also found out that the village had a blacksmith, who was the husband to one of the three main cooks at the Shattered Plate. They were a couple that had worked together to learn their respective trades, and had come here with the intent to make a life after the war. This interested Bane, since crafting his own weapons and armor would be essential while in the dungeon, and it definitely wouldn't hurt him later on in the open world.

After an hour, Bane finally walked into the town hall to find Ezio talking with Bilgarth. The assassin still had the purple bandages covering his arms, legs, and face, but now his mid section was covered in the orange wrappings from the day before.

"So, King Shit Disturber is back?" Bilgarth chuckled as Bane walked over to pat Ezio's shoulder.

"Sorry about before, and stealing your wraps. I just didn't want to waste time. I also made sure the witch won't bother you and Morgana," Bane said, and Ezio nodded with a big smile, putting his hand on Bane's opposite shoulder.

"Harmony was just here! She said you said we were close friends? Do you really feel that way?" Ezio asked, and Bane rolled his eyes, shoving the assassin away.

"Why do you always have to make it so weird? We are friends, and sparring buddies, if you ever stop being a little bitch and fight back," Bane growled, and Ezio chuckled.

"If you really want to fight with me that Bad, then I will return, but just try not to injure me too badly. I am not a monster like you and Nina," Ezio said, and then headed to the door. "I am going to see if I can find my favorite person, so don't wait up."

"Enjoy," Bane said, and turned to Bilgarth, who was giving him a strained look. "What?"

"You are a hard one to get a lock on. You seem like you don't care about anything, or anyone but Lysia. Yet, you went out of your way to declare Ezio your friend after destroying a woman's house that I feel uneasy about going against. She even came in here to tell me everything as meek as a mouse. Is it your kink to discipline arrogant women?"

Bane paused at this, which only made Bilgarth shake his head in wonder as Bane tapped his lip.

"Women? No, not just one sex. If anyone fucks with my... oh yes, before I say anything else, less I incur that persons wrath, Heart Ceremony. When do you think that you can get something ready for us? I am also not asking for this for free. Anything that you need me to do, just say it, and I will do it."

Bilgarth started laughing. "Ah yes! Give me about three days, and I will get everyone together for the event. You have best get yourself something nice to wear, and make sure your bride has everything she will need!"

Bane blinked at Bilgarth. "What do I need besides me and her?"

"Oh, you really are new blood. The bride usually wears a wedding dress, and the groom wears the ceremonial outfit for the clan he is marrying into. It is an old tradition, but I will make the preparations for a tailor and seamstress. You can come by tomorrow and I will tell you where to go."

Bane nodded, but then put up a hand, and Bilgarth nodded. "What about the ring thing? Does this Heart Ceremony do this type of thing? You know, like a proposal?"

"Oh, that is an interesting question. As far as I know, you give them a piece of jewelry that you make yourself. Even if it isn't that nice," Bilgarth explained, and Bane nodded, deciding to slip in something.

"Alright, and what kind of Demigod are you?" Bane asked, and Bilgarth froze.

The two of them stared at each other for a moment, but Bane spoke again. "No point in denying it. Another one like you tried to take over my body awhile back, and I could tell from her presence that she was in an adult form like you. That could only mean that you are a Demigod, right?"

Bilgarth pulled at his beard, but then nodded. "That I am. Bilgarth Frostfang, Demi God of the Frozen Maul. As for what kind I am? The kind that has been alive for too long, and just wishes to live in peace and watch the world move around him."

Bane nodded, expecting as much. He has never felt ill intention from the man, but Bane still felt like he needed to ask.

"Good. So, what is on the docket today? I have to go remove the rock I placed on Harmony's house, but where to after that?" Bane asked, and Bilgarth's eyes widened.

"What is with you and causing trouble? I heard the story, and I have to admit that it was well done, but you should really leave her be. Harmony is a dangerous person," Bilgarth warned, but Bane rolled his eyes.

"Stop worrying about me surviving my own mess, and give me my next direction. I already told her she can use curses on me to get me used to them."

Bilgarth just stared at Bane with disbelief, not even sure if he was looking at a human anymore. This creature in front of him seemed more like a demon that had a good side.

Staring for a moment longer, Bilgarth let out a sigh. "Mizuage and Wei Nam Lee want you for most of the day."

Bane scrunched up his face, and then sent a mental communication to Mizuage, but got no response.

"Why didn't he just tell me himself?"

Bilgarth shrugged. "Something about a surprise."

Bane shrugged back. "Whatever. If that is all, I am going to get going."

Bane turned and left without another word, leaving Bilgarth to only watch him.

"What a terrifying person. I am starting to wonder just how he will fare out in the rest of the world? This place is a haven compared to anywhere else," Bilgarth muttered to himself, but then shook his head with a sigh. "Who am I trying to kid? I am more worried about the rest of the world, and how it will fare against this monster I am nurturing."
