The Reborn Mom: Trapped in Her Son's Rivalry Drama

Chapter 6: A Love Without Material Foundation Is Just a Heap of Loose Sand

Inside the luxurious clothing boutique, as Lin Xu emerged from the fitting room in her tenth outfit, she performed the usual twirl before Ji Tingyang, awaiting his opinion. However, by now, he was already beginning to regret his spontaneous decision.

The time had passed so long that he had forgotten just how enthusiastic Lin Xu had been when shopping for clothes. Every time they went out to see the latest seasonal collections, she would spend hours trying on outfits and then buy them all.

When they were younger, he could easily wait, sitting on the side and playing with his toys. But now, his patience had worn thin.

As he watched Lin Xu so cheerfully, clearly still far from finishing, Ji Tingyang pulled out his phone and took a moment to glance at a document his secretary had sent him.

Before long, a commotion reached his ears.

"What's going on with your staff? Didn't I tell you to reserve this dress for me? Why on earth did you sell it to her?" A short-haired woman shouted angrily at the boutique employees.

The staff member looked awkward, "Miss Xu, we informed you earlier that we do not offer reservation services for our clothes. They must be purchased on-site."

The short-haired woman, well aware of the store's policy, had rushed to the shop as soon as she heard that the dress had arrived, only to find it had already been taken by someone else.

The fact that this dress was a limited edition, with the only one of its kind in the country, made her anger even more intense. "I spend millions here every year, and this is how you treat your loyal customers?"

Without further hesitation, she grabbed the dress she wanted from the pile of clothes Lin Xu was about to purchase and threw it at the staff. "Hurry up and ring me up!"

Her boldness left Lin Xu speechless.

The staff member hesitated, "This is the dress that this lady was about to purchase..."

"Look at her! She looks so poor, and the style she's wearing..." The short-haired woman sized Lin Xu up with a hint of disdain in her voice, "It's from twenty years ago. Can she even afford it?"

Lin Xu hadn't cared much for that dress to begin with. If the woman had been more polite, she would have been willing to let her have it. However, her complete lack of manners made that impossible.

Lin Xu tugged at the corners of her lips, pulling the dress back toward her. She pointed to the pile of clothes in front of her. "I'll take all of these. Please charge it to my card."

She handed over her black card.

The staff member's face lit up with joy. With this many clothes sold, her performance for the month was secured. She quickly reached out to take the card.

The short-haired woman froze for a moment. This bank card looked... too familiar. As she pondered, she snatched the card out of the staff member's hand to inspect it more closely.

Credit cards usually have a name engraved on them, and she immediately looked at the name on the card: Ji Tingyang's initials were clearly visible.

She suddenly remembered, she had seen this card in Wen Li's hands before.

"So, you're some penniless person trying to buy clothes, but it turns out you're just using someone else's credit card."

"Using a stolen bank card is illegal," the short-haired woman sneered, glancing at the staff, "What are you waiting for? Call the police now!"

"Ah?" The staff member looked between Lin Xu, who remained calm, and the arrogant short-haired woman, uncertain of how to proceed.

Lin Xu casually tucked her hair behind her ear and responded nonchalantly, "This card is mine."

The short-haired woman nearly burst into laughter, as though she had just heard the most absurd joke: "The name on it clearly says Ji Tingyang."

Lin Xu replied, "Yes, Ji Tingyang gave it to me."

"This card was clearly a gift from Ji Tingyang to Wen Li!" The short-haired woman said, pulling out her phone, ready to call the police.

Lin Xu, annoyed by her absurdity, was about to retort when a voice behind her interrupted.

"What's going on?"

Ji Tingyang approached Lin Xu and noticed her furrowed brow. She didn't seem in a good mood.

He wondered if she had run into some trouble.

"Nothing much. Just dealing with someone causing trouble," Lin Xu said, taking the bank card from the short-haired woman's hand and handing it back to the staff. "Please ring it up."

The staff snapped out of her daze, nodding repeatedly. "Yes, of course, I'll do it right now."

As they passed by the short-haired woman, the staff gave her a dismissive glance.

Stealing a bank card? That man was none other than Mr. Ji himself! Such nonsense, and she almost lost this big sale because of it.

When Ji Tingyang appeared, the short-haired woman froze in place. It wasn't until the staff had left that she snapped back to reality.

She smoothed her hair and forced a smile as she approached him. "Mr. Ji, I didn't realize you were here."

Lin Xu glanced at Ji Tingyang and raised an eyebrow. "Do you know her?"

If this unrefined woman was a friend of her son, she would have to have a serious conversation with him about the basic principles of friendship.

Ji Tingyang gave her a quick look, then turned his attention away, his voice cold. "I don't know her."

Lin Xu felt relieved and decided to skip the lecture.

The short-haired woman's smile faltered, and she quickly tried to salvage the situation. "Mr. Ji, I'm a friend of Wen Li's. We've met before at the club."

Mentioning Wen Li made Ji Tingyang pause for a moment, before he turned his gaze back toward her.

The short-haired woman's heart skipped a beat, thinking he remembered her, and was about to speak when Ji Tingyang simply responded with a faint "Oh" and ignored her.

The staff quickly finished the transaction, neatly packing up the clothes in no time.

A dozen or so bags were arranged neatly on the counter.

Lin Xu tilted her chin slightly, signaling Ji Tingyang to take the bags. She stood up and headed toward the door.

Ji Tingyang, used to these situations, gave the staff the address for the villa and instructed them to deliver the items. Then, with long strides, he followed Lin Xu.

"What was that about the club she mentioned? It's not some kind of nightclub, is it?"

"It's a leisure club owned by a friend of hers."

"That's fine. If she dares go to a nightclub and pick up bad habits, she won't be allowed in the house."

"...I wouldn't go."

Their casual conversation faded as they walked away, and only then did the short-haired woman snap back to reality. She quickly pulled out her phone and dialed a number.

The phone was answered quickly, and a sweet voice greeted her. "Hello?"

"Wen Li, you won't believe what I saw at the mall. Guess who I saw with Ji Tingyang? He was shopping with some other woman! What's going on? Isn't he supposed to be in love with you? Isn't he supposed to do whatever you say?"

Other woman?

Wen Li's mind immediately went to Lin Xu, and she was taken aback.

She knew how busy Ji Tingyang was with work, and the thought that he would leave everything behind to accompany Lin Xu shopping was startling.

Before Wen Li could process it, the short-haired woman continued, "Remember that black card Ji Tingyang gave you? How did it end up in that woman's hands?"

Wen Li instinctively replied, "I gave it back to him."

She didn't want to rely on Ji Tingyang's money.

The short-haired woman's voice exploded like fireworks in her ears: "You gave it back to him?! Are you crazy? He wants to spend money on you, and you refuse it? Don't tell me you're still thinking about that poor little boy?"

"He can't even afford a bouquet of flowers. What kind of life can he offer you? A love without material support is nothing more than a pile of loose sand. Do you understand that?"
