The Russian Billionaire's Fiesty Serb

Chapter 35: Chapter 35

What a surprisingly pleasant trip home. The aeroplane ride home was nothing like what I experienced before. Nik was surprisingly open to my comforting gestures, and we made small talk and fell into a comfortable silence for the rest of the trip.

I stare at him in the car as I mull over things. I'm still unsure what we have going on here. But I don't want to think about it too deeply; I just want to enjoy the moment, the here and now.

'What are you looking at?'

I shrug, 'Nothing. Can't a woman look at a man without it meaning anything?' I say giving him an innocent look.

He raises his eyebrow at me, 'Not when it's a woman such as yourself'.

I scoff, 'Because you know me so well'.

'Yeah, I would say I've gotten to know you pretty well over these last few days.' he says with a cheeky twinkle in his emerald gaze.

I punch him in the shoulder, 'Haha, very funny.' I say my tone dripping with sarcasm.

He laughs, something I'm beginning to see more these days. It still shocks me that a stoic person like him can actually laugh openly like this.

I try to keep up my serious expression but his laughter is infectious, and I can't help but join in.

'So what's actually on your mind?' and he's back to his serious persona.

'Nothing, I was just thinking about work.' he continues to stare at me unconvinced by my lie, but drops the issue.

We finally arrive to my apartment, and he parks in one of the bays in front of entrance of the building. I'm putting my hand on the handle of the door ready to open it when Nik halts me and he pulls me in for a long heated kiss.

A spark of pleasure pounds through my soul, but it's over too soon when he lets go and says, 'Stop with all the thinking. Just focus on this, on us.' He presses one more kiss to my lips and lets me go. He stares at me and is satisfied that he has my undivided attention, if the glint of pleasure in his eyes is anything to go by.

I stare after him as he gets out of the car. God this man does things to me.

I shake my head out of my stupor, and go after him. Being the gentleman that he is, he has already grabbed my bags out of the car. My heart warms at the sight.

He stares at me with his arms folded, daring me to call him out for doing it. Instead I walk up to him and pull him down to kiss him on the cheek, 'Thank you for doing that Nik.'

He looks momentarily stunned, clearly not expecting that reaction from me. I chuckle at his expression. He quickly composes himself, 'You're welcome.'

With the bags in one hand he uses the other hand to point at the entrance of the building, 'Lead the way Kiska.'

I arch a brow at him, 'I love how you just assume that you have permission to come up to my apartment.'

'Of course I do. You are not going to leave me out on the streets are you? I'm sure your parents raised you better than that'.

I shake my head at him, the man is insufferable, 'Yeah whatever, follow me.'

The corner of his mouth turns up in triumph.

We make our way to my apartment, which is on the middle floor. We finally reach my door, 'Ah so this is where the ice princess eats and sleeps'.

I quirk one brow at him but he doesn't respond to my unspoken question.

I unlock the door to let us in. The smile from my face drops when I enter. Everything looks normal but something feels amiss. I can't put my finger on it, but it's as if the energy in my place is off.

'What's wrong?'

'Oh nothing, just thinking.'

He pulls me in by the waist, 'You know for someone that has been thoroughly satisfied by yours truly, you do an awful lot of thinking.' he squeezes my ass in both hands to prove how distracting he can be. He trails his hand back up to my face and pulls me in for a kiss.

It's slow and sweet at first, but then it gets stronger and more dominating. His desire for me starts to spur on mine.

As we get lost in each other, my house phone rings. The shrill sound adds for an annoying background noise. Why I still have the old thing, only god knows. I let Nik go but he stops me, 'Just leave it I'm sure it will stop any second.'

He pulls me back for a gut-wrenching kiss. The blood rushing through my ears drowns the noise out.

I press my body against his, trying to get even closer than I already am. But my instincts are momentarily interrupted when I hear Cindy's voice over the line, 'Girl how dare you not answer your phone! You've left me in the dark all week. I want to know what happened with you and Nikolai. Did you fu--'

My eyes open wide, alert, and I quickly jump out of his arms and lunge for my phone to switch it off before the message bank can finish Cindy's last sentence.

But I was still too late when I pulled out the cord, the message finished on, '--ck'. I stay facing the phone, I loathe to face him. Eventually I find it in me, somehow, to turn around, and I'm met with his arrogant stature.

He is leaning back on the wall with his arms crossed smirking at me, and looking very self-satisfied. As if the man needed another ego boost! Ugh!

He clicks his tongue at me in that classic Russian way, 'Naughty, naughty, Jas! So you were thinking about fucking me this whole time?'
