Chapter 64: Chapter 64
Amidst the chaos unfolding throughout the Dragon Tomb, Lianchen remained fast asleep, his body recovering from the brutal toll of cultivation. Only when his instincts flared did his eyes snap open, and he abruptly sat up. Thanks to the rest he had gotten—and the regenerative effects of Creation Rebirth—his body had healed enough to move properly again.
His head turned sharply toward a point in the distance, roughly 2,000 kilometers away. Without hesitation, he raised two fingers to his forehead and vanished in an instant, teleporting into a dense forest.
There, lying on the ground, he found Qing Ying, her face pale and her body trembling—poisoned.
Above Qing Ying stood a red-haired middle-aged man, his gaze burning with lustful intent as he loomed over her. Nearby, Chu Feng stood tense, his expression grim as though he was about to act. However, he froze the moment Lianchen appeared.
Chu Feng had spent the past day in this forest, hunting and consuming the demon beasts that roamed the area. The rich energy within these beasts had significantly accelerated his cultivation, even allowing him to break through to a new level. During his hunt, he had stumbled upon Qing Ying, and the two had decided to work together. That was until this man appeared.
The middle-aged man had immediately set his sights on Qing Ying, his eyes alight with recognition as he discerned her unique physique. The rest was easy to guess. Qing Ying and Chu Feng had tried to fight back, but they were no match for this man, a cultivator powerful enough to force his way into this dimension.
"You've got some nerve waking me up for this nonsense," Lianchen said coldly as he stepped forward, his voice slicing through the tension. The red-haired man turned to face him, his expression growing serious.
"Let me get this straight," Lianchen continued his tone icy and measured. "You break into this place, knowing full well I might be here. As far as I'm concerned since this dimension belongs to the royal family, it belongs to me. That makes you an intruder in my domain. And then, you dare to bully those under my protection. That's three crimes on your head."
Lianchen's presence radiated authority as he took another step forward. "But I'll be nice. Do you want me to mind break you or let you experience hell before I send you there?"
The air grew heavy with tension, Lianchen's words lingering like a threat etched into the fabric of the moment.
"Prince, I didn't know she was under your protection," the red-haired man said quickly, his tone filled with urgency. "I came here seeking an audience with you. I am the prince of the Dragon Empire, and I was hoping for our two empires to work together."
Lianchen's expression remained cold and indifferent. "You could be the heavens themselves, and I wouldn't give a damn," he replied icily. "After this whole Dragon Tomb ordeal, your empire had better present a compelling reason to me, or else the dragon race will be raised as farm animals."
The prince of the Dragon Empire bristled with fury at Lianchen's words. His body surged with power as he transformed into a mighty red dragon, roaring with rage.
Lianchen, however, remained unfazed. With a simple motion, he manipulated the ground, causing a massive rod to rise from the earth. What followed left the outside world utterly stunned.
Lianchen calmly coated the tip of the rod with poison before driving it straight up the dragon's rear without hesitation. The dragon roared in agony, its mighty frame writhing as it was held aloft by the rod.
The poison, laced with potent effects, overwhelmed the dragon's nervous system with pain, pain that was a fragment of the pain Lianchen had to endure now when he cultivated. The proud creature's brain, overridden by the sheer intensity of the pain, could no longer channel its power. All it could do was wail in unimaginable torment.
The humiliation compounded the pain, breaking the dragon's spirit. It dared not move or struggle, for every slight motion only intensified the excruciating agony.
The scene was both horrifying and awe-inspiring, a grim reminder of Lianchen's ruthlessness and power, leaving all who witnessed it utterly speechless.
Lianchen's gaze settled on Qing Ying, his annoyance was evident. "And you… don't you know that poison falls under Yin? Yet look at you, making me ashamed to call you my disciple," he said coldly.
His words carried such weight that the poison coursing through Qing Ying's system was momentarily suppressed, allowing her to regain some clarity. Her eyes, which had been clouded with lust from the poison's effects, began to clear.
"Don't reject the poison—absorb it. Everything that's Yin is your ally," Lianchen continued, his tone sharp. Qing Ying's eyes widened in understanding causing him to snort lightly before he turned his attention briefly to Chu Feng.
There wasn't much to say to him. Chu Feng was strong enough to handle the situation and would have likely saved Qing Ying, albeit at a significant cost to himself. Lianchen had simply intervened before he had the chance to act.
"I'm too sleepy to be dealing with this…" Lianchen muttered, rubbing his temples. Being woken up so abruptly had put him in a foul mood. Yet, despite his irritation, something deeper within the forest called to him—a gateway to something intriguing. It was at the forest's center, but it could wait.
His attention shifted back to Qing Ying, who had begun breaking through in her cultivation. The poison, instead of weakening her, was being harnessed as a tool to strengthen her. He observed for a moment before deciding the process was taking too long. Using his understanding of time he gained from the Space-Time Mirror, he manipulated time, speeding it up around her.
The results were immediate. In a matter of moments, Qing Ying reached level 1 Soul Refinement.
She rose to her feet, her expression filled with awe as she marveled at her newfound strength. However, when she looked at Lianchen, her excitement quickly faded. His lingering annoyance was clear, and she averted her gaze, not daring to meet his eyes.
"Well, since I'm already here, I might as well join you in finding whatever it is that lies within this forest," Lianchen said with a yawn, walking forward without waiting to see if they followed.
Of course, they did. How could they not? They followed, their eyes widened as they watched every demon beast that dared approach collapse to the ground, unconscious from the sheer pressure of Lianchen's Conqueror's Haki.
Chu Feng's gaze narrowed as he observed the scene. The effortless display of dominance left a profound impact on him. He closed his eyes briefly, turning his focus inward to sense his own Dao. In the past, he had thought his Dao was remarkable. But now… he couldn't help but feel dissatisfied. The gap between him and Lianchen was glaringly clear, and for the first time, he felt the urge to shatter his current Dao and forge something entirely new.
Still, now wasn't the time. Perhaps someday in the future, he would create a Dao that truly reflected his essence.
They soon reached the center of the forest, where a sea of demon beasts lay scattered across the ground, all unconscious from Lianchen's Conqueror's Haki. The group's eyes were drawn to a treehouse standing tall in the middle of the clearing, exuding an aura that seemed to beckon them. Without hesitation, they entered.
Inside, they found a white-haired man seated in a simple chair, sipping tea with an air of tranquility.
"Finally," the man said, his voice tinged with disappointment, "someone has managed to make it this far. Although it pains me to see that, even after thousands of years, it wasn't a descendant of mine who achieved this."
"In a way, I'm your step-descendant," Lianchen replied lazily, casually taking a seat across from the man. "You should look into heaven's secrets if you want to know who I am."
The white-haired man's curiosity was piqued. He closed his eyes briefly, only to freeze as the truth revealed itself to him.
"...Do you see the royal family as your own family?" he asked softly, his voice trembling despite his attempts to hide it. It was clear that today's events had deeply shaken him, and how could they not?
"Of course," Lianchen replied nonchalantly. "I wouldn't go around calling myself 'this prince' all the time if I didn't. So don't worry—they'll benefit from my rise."
The white-haired man nodded, his eyes bright with a joy he could no longer conceal.
"Your cultivation is low—perfect for this reward," the white-haired man said with a smile, producing three extraordinary leaves. "These are leaves from the Tree of Life, located on the Demon Beast Continent. Brew tea with one of these, and you'll experience extra lives, taking different paths in each. The lower your cultivation and the more leaves you have, the more extra lives you can experience. When the experiences merge, they'll enhance your current path. In fact, this leaf is a key ingredient in the Three Lives Pill—a pill that allows you to live three extra lives, which then fuse back into your current life."
The leaves radiated a vibrant energy of life, their presence alone enough to invigorate the soul. A normal person consuming even one of these leaves could expect to gain at least 1,000 additional years of lifespan.
"It's nice," Lianchen replied as he accepted the leaves, "but it's not what I'm after. I'm looking for an inheritance related to the Dao of Alchemy. Where should I go for that?" He pocketed the third leaf while handing one each to Chu Feng and Qing Ying.
The white-haired man nodded thoughtfully. "Head to the desert. The Earthworms there were placed to guard the trials, which are hidden somewhere within the sands. But first, go to the Dragon Tomb Garden. Pass the trial there, and you'll receive three things: the Earthworm Heart Taming Pill, a map to the Alchemy Grounds trial, and a pill that neutralizes all poisons."
As he spoke, his form began to fade, the soul fragment he had left behind dissipating.
"Well, thanks for the help," Lianchen said with a sigh. He had just left the desert, and now he had to go back.
The white-haired man gave a faint smile. "No need to thank me. With two fine followers and your leadership, I can rest easy knowing the Zhou Empire is in good hands."
And with that, the fragment disappeared completely, leaving the group in silence.
