The seeds we plant

Chapter 6: Chapter 5- The sad night

She took the shortest route up the hill, though she had to crush a few flowers on the way, Nath didn't seem to have the space in her head to care about it. When she arrived the door was wide open as loud men talked from inside, she started to run towards the door when a sound assaulted her from the side. Frightened Nath jumped to the side of the house to avoid being seen. A horse came to the front of the small house with one of the leather-armored men on top of it. Nath looked at it in horror as she froze and hid in the shelter of the night at the side of the house. The man entered the house and disappeared through the door.

Nath was on the verge of collapse. Fear was showing in her expression as small tears formed at the sides of her eyes. Her small hands were white from the force with which she formed a fist trying to gain courage. Slowly and unsteadily she climbed onto some logs at the side of the house and peeked inside the house.

In it were 2 men eating the food that was prepared on the table while her entire family was standing watching them from one side of the dining room. One man who was sitting gave a friendly signal and the man on the horse sat down on one of the free chairs. At a glance it could be seen that her father was especially uneasy, perhaps wanting to look for Nath.

After enjoying the food that was taken by Dorothy, the men began to talk while Nath's family was in exactly the same place. Nath seemed to be relieved that nothing had happened in her house. However, a sudden change in the visual expressions of the armored men caught my attention. The family also had puzzled expressions as the men talked to each other. The tension became palpable when one of the men stood up and revealed his sword. Nath's expression had changed as she covered her mouth with both hands. Tears began to fill her eyes as she seemed to recite something like a prayer.

As the man lunged at Nath's mother, her father received the sword blow with his arm. Blood spilled on the ground as a clear expression of anger stained the man's expression but her father, ignoring the pain, managed to throw the man to the ground and take his weapon.

What followed was a tough fight where her father tried to face the 3 men. At first the expressions of the 3 men seemed tense, but it relaxed as the battle continued. The difference in skill between the men and the father was clear as day. While his wife and daughter could only hug each other waiting for their father's success. The father began to stagger as the men hit him with their swords in non-lethal places to enjoy his suffering. At a decisive moment the father lunged at one of the men, although he suffered 2 wounds in his back, he managed to insert his sword into one of the men, fatally wounding him. The other 2 disgusted raised their swords against the father, but in a quick movement, he moved away from them in the opposite direction towards the door.

- Now!

With a scream loud enough to be heard outside, the mother took Dorothy in her arms and ran towards the door. Little Dorothy did not stop crying as she watched her father facing the armored men.

- Daaadddd

One of the 2 men still fighting with the father tried to stop them, but the father threw a chair at him to prevent his advance, a sad fatal mistake.

Although he managed to prevent them from chasing his wife, the other man did not waste the opportunity and stabbed him in the chest with his sword. A muffled voice came out of his lips as he stared at the door, even though he was being stabbed he never stopped looking at the door where his wife had fled through. A small tear came out of the side of his eye as he stammered something. Even though he tried to fight, he could only collapse to the ground lifeless.

At some point Nath had stopped looking out the window. She had curled up against the wall and cried while burying her head between her legs. Her whimpers were barely audible until she passed out.

The 2 men left the house in search of the fugitive mother.

Taking opposite directions, one of them was getting dangerously close to Nath.

"I really don't have a choice, do I?"

The man soon found Nath still huddled against the wall and tried to approach her, sword in hand. As he was about to reach her a huge wolf emerged from nowhere revealing its teeth at the man. Panicking the man adjusted his stance and tried to face the wolf. Before he knew it another wolf appeared behind him and bit his neck off. A sharp scream rang out before the man's headless body fell to the ground. Not long after the wolves had disappeared as quickly as they had appeared.
