The Undead Awakening: From Nobody to Legend in Another World

Chapter 29: Simple Victory

For his first match, Andre naturally had plans to hide his true strength, so he only brought four skeleton mages with him, including himself.

When Demont, a student of earth magic, summoned his earth elemental armor, Andre pretended to fumble awkwardly as he slowly pulled out his skeleton staff from behind his neck…

Andre's actions were naturally clear for the audience watching from all around the arena, seated like spectators in an ancient Roman coliseum, viewing through the crystal-clear images projected by magical mirrors. The audience burst into laughter at the sight.

Tina, the little girl, heard their laughter, and though her face turned as red as an apple, she still followed Andre's instructions and cast 'Wind of the Undead' on the skeleton mages.

This spell was one of the two spells Tina could use, besides summoning skeletons, and it was something Andre had specifically told her to use.

'Wind of the Undead' was a spell that, through a necromancer's prayer, could increase the speed of undead attacks by about ten percent.

Generally, when a low-level necromancer summoned physical undead creatures for melee combat, they would use 'Wind of the Undead' to slightly increase their speed and save time when summoning more undead.

However, when summoning mage-type undead, the standard practice according to the necromancer's textbooks was to cast 'Mind of the Abyss' first. This spell helped speed up the regeneration of the mental energy of mage-type undead, since they were famously low on mental strength.

In this world, the saying "outsiders watch for excitement, insiders look for details" was just as true.

The bored nobles who came to watch the spectacle were busy chatting with each other or flirting with the women in extravagant outfits, while the younger noblemen, dressed like colorful roosters, flitted around trying to impress the ladies…

"Using 'Wind of the Undead,' how ignorant!"

Master Cone, a senior mage, frowned as he spoke. Although he specialized in earth magic, he was certainly familiar with the spell Tina had used.

Not only Master Cone but even Demont, Tina's opponent, let out a long sigh of relief.

Just as Demont was about to smile, three swirling clouds of black, decaying fog suddenly appeared, completely enveloping him.

Demont, the earth magic apprentice, instinctively felt fear, but he composed himself. He assumed the decaying fog was merely to obscure his vision, giving the skeleton mages an opportunity to launch their next attack.

Now that he was covered by the earth elemental armor, Demont had essentially become a turtle in its shell, and it was impossible for him to dodge. Thus, he began chanting to cast a spell, intending to use the earth wall spell—although he wasn't particularly skilled in it.

Even though the four skeleton mages could all use bone spear spells, he was confident his earth elemental armor could withstand the first wave of bone spears. After that, the earth wall would be ready, and the second round of bone spears wouldn't even be launched in time… This was his worst-case scenario.

The 'Rocky Wasteland' arena, named as such for its desolate, rocky environment, had plenty of earth elements, so Demont figured he was in a favorable position.

While chanting his incantation, Demont couldn't help but think.

At this point, Demont, the earth magic apprentice, thought he might face some trouble, but he was still confident of his victory.

"Too bad…"

Andre sighed inwardly, then casually cast 'Accelerated Decay.'

Did Demont think Andre's skeletons were just tossing around decaying fog for fun?

The decaying fog didn't just corrode flesh—it also had a corrosive effect on elemental armors!

If there had only been decaying fog, the armor would have taken a long time to erode, but when combined with 'Accelerated Decay,' it was a completely different story!

As soon as Andre cast 'Accelerated Decay,' the earth elemental armor covering Demont's body started to crack loudly, with visible fractures forming on the armor as it began to resemble a fragile porcelain object about to shatter.

This entire sequence took less than two seconds.

After casting the spell, Andre boredly withdrew his hand, thinking his opponent was far too inexperienced!

Bored, Andre stopped and watched as his three skeleton servants formed bone spears. The spears wobbled before striking Demont, still covered in the decaying fog.

A piercing scream echoed through the arena. Demont, impaled by three bone spears, was sent flying out of the decaying fog, crashing heavily to the ground amid the jagged rocks.

"Alright, girl, pack up and get ready to go home! That was too much… That guy is gasping more than he's breathing now…"

Andre glanced over with little regard, communicating mentally with Tina. He spoke while peeking around like a curious child, mirroring the same behavior as his skeleton servants.

"Okay, Mr. Andre. But… that person is so pitiful. Shouldn't we try to save him?"

The little girl nodded enthusiastically at first, then responded hesitantly in the mental link. Andre had told her never to speak to him in front of others, and she remembered that. After expressing her thoughts, Tina looked at Demont, who was writhing in pain on the ground.

"Save him? Heh... Tina, remember what I told you—if he hurt you, do you think that guy would come to save you?"

Andre chuckled. Didn't Tina notice how Demont was glaring at them with pure malice?

People like him weren't worth saving.

In this world, where the law of the jungle still applied, Andre couldn't afford to save that guy.

A necromancer who lives by killing—could a necromancer really be someone who saves others?

Tina remained silent for a long time, then gently nodded her head.

Even so, she still waited for the light priest to enter before feeling comfortable enough to leave.

Such a naive girl… Doesn't she understand the deadly nature of the Boing Magic Tournament?

Andre observed the entire situation with cold eyes, letting out another inward sigh.

It seemed like he would have to give the little girl a lesson soon.

---

"How is this possible?!"

In a noble box, Master Cone pointed at the little girl leaving with four skeleton mages, standing up in shock.

Behind Master Cone, the father and son of the Aujin family were utterly stunned…

What had just happened completely shattered their understanding—

How could this necromancer apprentice possibly win so easily?!
