The Unrivaled Cosmic God

Chapter 7: Failed Awakening

After traveling eastward for hours, they camped near a small lake for the night.

After cleaning himself and doing all other miscellaneous stuff, Tang Xi entered into the tent.

He paused near the entrance and laid his gaze on Wu Chen who stood by the side.

"I'm going in to take a nap and I don't want to be disturbed. Kill anything that you feel is a threat."

Wu Chen coughed as his throat suddenly turned dry. He was now finding it difficult to talk to Tang Xi.

All those years that there were together seemed not to have existed. Tang xi seemed like a stranger to him.

"A threat to you or a threat to me?" Wu Chen questioned.

"Of course a threat to me."

Wu Chen shook his head inwardly. Anything that could pose a threat to someone as overpowered as the young master is capable of killing me with a mere sneeze.

"And one last thing…" Tang xi added. "As long as you mean me no harm, then I won't harm you…"

Otherwise…"he left his words hanging.

"I absolutely mean you no harm young master Tang" Chen declared but for some unknown reasons, his heart raced furiously.

"Of course, you mean me no harm" and with a small smirk on his face, Tang Xi entered into the tent.

His words were to warn Chen to desist from having any maliciously thoughts towards him.

Tang Xi sighed as he sat cross legged inside the tent.

"Since I am now the vessel of this body, I might as well restore my dignity"

The former Tang Xi was know as a trash in the Tang clan, a good for nothing and if not for the power his father held in the clan, he would have been kicked out already.

With a glazed expression on his face, Tang Xi prepared to cultivate but caught sight of Wu Chen standing at the entrance of the tent.

"What are you still waiting for?" A cold tone crept into Tang Xi's voice. He was still suspicious of this servant of his.

"N.. nothing." Wu chen stuttered for a moment before recollecting himself.

"As a servant, I am very good with my hands. So I thought the young master would need a massage to relax." It seems like he was looking for a way to please Tang Xi.

A slight frown found its way into Tang Xi's face as his brows furrowed.

"Scram" he bellowed.

"Who needs the god-damned massage?"

Wu Chen scrambled outside the tent with a terrified expression. As soon as he was outside, that terrified expression disappeared and was replaced by a a fierce expression mixed with a tinge of excitement.

"Finally, I can see the redemption of the faction at hand. Soon, the ancestor would be awoken and would possess the vessel...and I will stop acting like a god-damned servant."

His fierce expression was ephemeral and it was replaced by the meek look of a servant.

"I will play my part well and must not fail the faction."

Inside the tent, Tang Xi was oblivious to the thought of his servant and shaking his head, he calmed his thoughts as he tried to harness the Cosmo in the atmosphere.

According to the memories he got when he transmigrated, the former Tang was unable to harness the Cosmo from the atmosphere.

And that was the foremost reason why he was deemed a trash.

In their world, Cosmo was the lifeblood of every human; it could mean your ascension to glory and power as well as it could spell your doom.

With a look of hipe and anxiety on his visage, he began absorbing the energy.

"It is not working. Maybe it just need a slight nudge."

But after trying for awhile, he was still unable to absorb the energy. It felt as though a membrane was covering his pores, preventing any speck of energy from entering his core.

"Why is the damned thing refusing to break?"

Using all his will power, he pounded furiously against the membrane but his efforts was futile.

Without Cosmo, he couldn't become a cultivator and if he cannot become a cultivator, then it would be impossible to destroy the council; to avenge his clan.

"Why is this happening to me?"

After ten whole minutes, his refused to accept that the task was insurmountable. His eyes were red with fury and anguish and his eyes were brimming with tears.

A former immortal on the verge of tears….

"Heaven, I know this is your way of toying with me but I won't give you the pleasure of seeing me cry" with this thought in mind, he forced the tear back in.

DAMN!!! he couldn't help but let out a maddened howl.

For the first time in hundreds of years, Tang Xi had never felt this hopeless. All his arrogance and pride melted, revealing who he really was.

"I need this energy…" he pounded against the barrier sealing his meridians but alas, it was all in vain.

I need the damned thing so that I can avenge them; my family…my clan" he continued pushing forward relentlessly.

The sole reason why Tang Xi was locked in a titanic struggle against the nine Supremes was because of his fallen clan. As the only survivor, he swore to avenge them but now, it was impossible.

Without enough power to rival the council, he was as good as dead.

He leaned back, giving up temporarily. He bit his tongue, tasting blood. His temperature rose till it was enough to rival the heat emitted from a burning ember. His eyes were hazy as scenes from the past weaved it's way into his head.
