The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Chapter 104: Proposal

The man called Ryan, along with Shuvina’s father, Pale, suddenly knelt before Shuvina, took her hand, and kissed it.

Then, smiling at Shuvina, who seemed surprised, he began to suggest that she consider something.

“Um, Ryan-sama. What exactly is this about?”

“Oh? You haven’t heard yet? I thought you’d come here to discuss that since I heard your father was here.”

“Ryan. We haven’t spoken about that yet. Besides, even if we’re relatives, it’s not polite to just barge into someone’s home.”

“Father! I apologize for this.”

The one being referred to as “father” by Ryan is Kaylee, who turns out to be Kaylee’s son and the prince of this country.

(This seems like a hassle.)

As I kept my presence to a minimum, watching intently, Ryan’s expression shifted to one of determination, and he turned his gaze toward Shuvina.

“Shuvina. If you haven’t heard yet, let me say it again. Actually, I’ve already talked to your parents and mine, but could you marry me!”

“…Huh?”

(Oh wow, a proposal!)

I never expected to witness a proposal right in front of me, so I couldn’t help but be surprised.

I didn’t know exactly how old Ryan was, but elves have long lifespans, living around 500 years. So, many of them don’t really mind age differences in marriage.

Of course, if someone is too young, then that’s a different story, but it’s quite normal to wait until the other person is a bit older. Shuvina should be turning 14 soon, so getting married in a couple of years wouldn’t be a problem.

As for Shuvina, she seemed flustered by the suddenness of it all, frozen in surprise.

“I understand Shuvina is shocked by this sudden proposal. But I’m serious! I’ve watched you since childhood, and on the day you left this country to travel, I realized my feelings since you were always close by.

We do have an age gap and we’re cousins, but I like you! I’ll wait until you’re an adult, but once you are, would you marry me?”

In response to Ryan’s passionate proposal, Kaylee seemed to be holding his head in his hands for some reason, while Shuvina’s parents looked on, waiting to see what she would say.

And then, Shuvina…

“No, um…”

Being unsure how to respond, she glanced my way for some reason.

Of course, Ryan, standing right in front of her, couldn’t possibly miss her gaze shifting, so he turned to look at me as well…

(Why is he looking this way?)

“…Who are you?”

Finally noticing our presence, he glared at me as if I were his parents’ enemy.

“Fiera, he’s asking you.”

“Yeah. I’m Fiera. I’m in a party with Shuvina.”

When I was put on the spot, Fiera introduced herself honestly and quickly explained her relationship with Shuvina.

“I see. So, you’re Fiera. And you? What about the other one?”

Ryan didn’t take his eyes off me while he spoke to Fiera.

“…I’m Eir. Just like Fiera.”

“I see. Then, what is your relationship with Shuvina?”

“As I said, we’re in a party together.”

“Is what he’s saying true, Shuvina?”

Ryan, hearing my words, moved on to confirm with Shuvina.

“Y-yes, it’s true. There’s nothing between us.”

Though Shuvina said that, she looked at me with a somewhat disappointed expression before directing her gaze to the floor.

“Then, let’s get your answer right here…”

“Ryan, that’s enough. We’re currently discussing something important. I’m afraid we’ll have to put that conversation on hold.”

Then, Kaylee, who had been quietly observing this whole situation, interrupted Ryan’s insistence, trying to wrap up this discussion.

“Father… Understood. Shuvina, I’ll ask for your answer another time. I apologize for barging in like this today.”

With that, Ryan released Shuvina’s hand, stood up, and headed toward the door, leaving the house as if nothing had happened.

(Sigh. Once again, what a hassle.)

However, I didn’t miss the moment he looked back at us one last time, noticing a clear animosity in his gaze.

“That prince is jealous of Eir.”

“I know. Honestly, it’s quite annoying, especially when I have no interest in her. It’s even worse because those types are the most troublesome. It would be easier if he were just an obnoxious prince driven by desire.”

I didn’t have any romantic feelings for Shuvina; I simply explained that we were in a party together, but it seemed that guy thought of me as a rival.

Unlike the foolish prince of Falmer, Ryan appeared to be the calm type. Judging by his demeanor, it seemed he had deep feelings for Shuvina.

Such types rarely act out openly, making it hard to deal with them quickly, which is truly a hassle.

“Sigh, if you want to get married, just go ahead. Why am I getting dragged into this?”

“It’s inevitable. Shuvina has the right to choose and she has her own feelings.”

As I whispered with Fiera, I began to regret coming to this country a little. I figured I could just handle things once I was attacked and shifted my focus to Kaylee and the others.

“Shuvina, what Ryan said is indeed true, but don’t worry about it.

You’re still a child, so when you find someone you like, it’s best to be with that person.

If it’s Ryan, then that’s fine. If it’s someone else, work hard to be with them.

It’s your life. Live it how you like. Your parents surely feel the same.”

“Kaylee-san…”

Shuvina glanced at Kaylee once, then turned her gaze to her parents.

Seeing her, they nodded and smiled at her, implying they also thought it was okay for her to do as she pleased.

Watching them, I couldn’t help but think…

(What is this situation?)

I stared at them with a cold feeling.

Certainly, it’s good to allow Shuvina to live as she wishes and for those around her to recognize that.

However, I was being eyed as a rival by Ryan, and despite discussing something important regarding the Kingdom of Hydra just moments ago, the topic had somehow shifted to Shuvina’s life, leaving me dumbfounded.

“Um, can we put off discussing Shuvina’s future for now and finish talking about Hydra?”

As I said this, Kaylee and the others seemed to have completely forgotten about Hydra, coughing as if to recall their attention.

“Apologies. So, where did we leave off?”

“I was about to go defeat Hydra. That’s when that guy walked in.

Anyway, it’s a hassle, so let’s just forget about it, right? You probably can’t defeat it anyway, and as I said earlier, if I can handle it alone, you wouldn’t incur any damage, so just leave it to me, okay?”

I took on a haughty attitude to forcefully decide the matter, feeling annoyed thanks to Ryan.

“Isn’t that a bit underestimating us? I don’t know how strong you are, but it’s still impossible for you to defeat Hydra alone.”

“Tch. What a pain.”

I cast multiple layers of barrier magic over just Shuvina’s house to keep my magic power from leaking out, then filled the room with my dense magic power all at once.

“Ugh?! Wh-what’s with this density of magic?!”

“K-kinda hard to breathe…”

Kaylee was sweating profusely from the overwhelming density of the magic, while Pale was on one knee, gasping for air.

“Eir-san, that’s enough. I understand your strength perfectly. So please, rein in that magic.”

However, Cecile stood calmly, unfazed by my magic, telling me to tone it down.

“…Understood. I’ll hold back just for you, Cecile-san.”

As I reined in my magic, Kaylee let out a big sigh, while Pale, rubbing his back, slowly regained his breath.

“Eir-san, as I mentioned earlier, I do understand that you’re strong.

If a group of elven warriors were to challenge you, they wouldn’t have a chance.

Moreover, even if we had you accompany us to defeat Hydra, you’d just end up being a burden.”

“Who knows? If Cecile-san were among those warriors, I might not be able to win right now.”

“Hehe, I’m just a mother, so I won’t participate in any fighting, but if you were to harm my child, I would go all out.”

After a brief moment of silence, Cecile and I locked eyes, and then, without a word, we both shifted our gazes and Cecile began to discuss Hydra’s demise.

“About Hydra, however, I can’t grant permission immediately. Kaylee-san will likely need to speak with others, so would you please wait a while?”

“I’m fine with that. Then, while I won’t go to defeat it, can I at least scout it out? That’s where we can compromise.”

“Understood. I’ll grant permission for the scouting. Right, Kaylee-san?”

“Y-yeah.”

“Thank you.”

After that, we discussed when we would go for the scouting, and as I was allowed to stay in Shuvina’s house while in this country, we had dinner that evening before resting in the assigned room.
