Chapter 133
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Chapter 126: A Chat
As I stepped through the door into the room, the sight of my parents, unchanged from two years ago, allowed me to finally relax, realizing I had returned home.
“I’m back. Father, Mother.”
“Welcome back, Lewis.”
“Welcome home, Lewis.”
As my mother approached me with those words, she enveloped me in a hug, as if to confirm my existence.
“It’s okay. I’m alive and well, and I don’t have any injuries. Besides, I’ve been sending letters like you asked, right?”
“I know. But seeing your safety with my own eyes feels different.”
Tears trembled in her shoulders as she tightened her embrace, so I continued to pat her back to reassure her.
“Thank you, Lewis. By the way, you’ve grown taller than me! You were just a little taller than me before you left.”
“Well, it’s been two years. Of course, I’ve grown.”
“Hehe, it’s already been two years.”
“Elise! I know you’re happy to see Lewis, but let’s let him sit down first. Others are waiting too.”
Father called to Mother, who finally noticed the two others and blushed a little.
“Oh dear, I’ve shown you my embarrassing side. Lewis, and Fiera, please, have a seat over there.”
Following Mother’s directive, we took our seats opposite the two of them and relaxed while enjoying the tea that Miria had served.
“Now, Lewis. I have many questions for you, but first, could you tell us about that young lady over there?”
“Yes, I’ve been wondering too. You left with two, but why did you come back with three?”
It seemed they were curious about Shuvina, who, under their gaze, flinched a little and shifted nervously.
“Nice to meet you! I’m Shuvina, an elf who joined Lewis’s party!”
With her nervousness apparent, Shuvina announced her name loudly, her long ears turning bright red.
“Hehe, so you’re Shuvina. I’m Elise, Lewis’s mother. It’s nice to meet you.”
“I’m Edward, his father. Nice to meet you. Now, Lewis, could you give us some details about her?”
“I met Shuvina when we were heading to the coastal city of Minerva. We found her collapsed on the road due to hunger.”
“Hunger…”
“Collapsed…”
As I explained when I first met Shuvina, both parents became concerned about the reason for her collapse, causing Shuvina to blush even more.
“Anyway, since our ultimate destination was the elf country, I thought I’d take her along until then.”
“I see. Indeed, to enter the elf country, one needs to go in with other elves or be recognized by them.”
“But why did she come all the way to the Empire with you?”
“That’s because she’s enrolled at the Suzette Imperial Academy, so she’ll be living here until then.”
“I understand. But it seems to be more than just that.”
Mother glanced at Shuvina, who turned away as if caught off-guard.
“Well, let’s save that talk for later, between the girls. For now, I want to hear about Lewis’s journey. Your letters only mentioned dropping out of the magic academy, and I want to hear it straight from you.”
“Got it.”
I then shared stories of my journey since leaving the Valentine Duchy but refrained from mentioning the times I almost died fighting the Forest King and Hydra, wanting to spare them worry.
“Hmm. I had a rough idea from your letters, but you’ve had quite the experiences.”
“Indeed. At your age, there’s no one else who has experienced so much.”
After I finished recounting my travels to the Kingdom of God Tree, both parents smiled with a mix of admiration and concern.
“I think so too. Just picking one country or town, they all have unique cultures and landscapes, and it was really fun. And while there were some weird folks, I was lucky to meet many good people. This journey was truly remarkable.”
These were my honest feelings. While I had encountered many who were forgettable, it was the wonderful encounters with Rick, Viola, the lord of Adoniya, and Cecil that stood out.
Plus, there were some I was looking forward to fighting again, so I could say this trip had brought me very good fortune.
“That’s true. But that also brings a bit of a dilemma.”
“Dilemma?”
“Well, I wonder if you’ll really be able to learn anything at the Suzette Imperial Academy…”
“Well, to be honest, the magic academy in the Magic Kingdom is superior in terms of magic, and considering your abilities, I don’t think there’s much for you to learn. Also, you’ve gained invaluable experience in battle far beyond what’s taught in class.”
“Of course, there are things like noble manners and political studies, but you’d manage those perfectly, wouldn’t you?”
“I see.”
What they said was valid. Having continually returned from death while attending the academy, there truly was little for me to learn there.
I had already read and memorized all the manners, studies, and even the boring jokes the teachers made during class.
I didn’t want to go if I didn’t have to, but I knew from experience what would happen if I didn’t go. More importantly, I had someone I wanted to meet at the academy this time.
“I completely understand what you both are saying. At this point, even if I went there, I wouldn’t be able to learn much. However, just like this journey, the connections I make at the academy might also be meaningful. Pursuing those connections could be one of the ways to enjoy the school.”
“Hmm. Connections, huh. Indeed, for us nobles, those horizontal ties can sometimes be important… Alright, if you feel that way, then you can go to the academy as planned.”
“Thank you!”
As I said that, I couldn’t help but smile with excitement at the thought of meeting her again.
(I won’t let her win this time. Next time, I’ll definitely win!)
“El. You seem happy.”
“Honestly, it’s the happiest I’ve been since the Hydra incident.”
While Fiera and Shuvina whispered to each other beside me, I ignored them for now, focusing on what was more important to me.
“Now then, let’s hear from Fiera and Shuvina next. I’d love to hear stories about Lewis from you two or things that only you know.”
With those words, Mother smiled even brighter than before, repositioning herself next to Fiera and Shuvina, and the three began chatting.
“Looks like their conversation might go on for a while. Should we move somewhere else?”
“Yeah, I agree. I’m not particularly interested in hearing my own story from the side.”
“Haha, true. So then, how about we have a sparring session? Show me your magic skills.”
“That sounds great. I’d be happy to!”
Father and I exited the room and headed to the training ground, ready for a magic duel for the first time in ages.
Meanwhile, it seemed that Fiera and Shuvina were discussing something with Mother, but I wasn’t interested in their conversation, so I didn’t bother listening.
