The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Chapter 331: I Want to Brag!

“Haah. It’s over, huh?”

After the battle with the Beruk Turtle ended, Olga slumped down, looking exhausted, while Fiera returned to me, collecting items and magic stones.

“Good job.”

“Yeah. Good work. Is that an item?”

“Mm. It was a gauntlet.”

“I see.”

I casually used a healing spell to mend Olga’s injuries and then used appraisal magic on the gauntlet that looked like it was made of magma—red and black.

“‘Flame King’s Armlet.’ You can wrap it in flames just by channeling magic or fighting spirit into it, and it can even cause explosions at the point of contact. Its power increases according to the amount of magic or fighting spirit used. Also, the gauntlet itself is extremely hard, comparable to orichalcum. It seems to have other abilities as well, but those are unlocked based on the amount of magic and fighting spirit used. Quite an interesting weapon.”

This Flame King’s Armlet is what they call a growth-type weapon, which is very rare.

A representative example of a growth-type weapon is the holy sword used by heroes, which also slowly unlocks its abilities as the hero grows.

In other words, this weapon is on par with the holy sword or perhaps even better.

“You can use this.”

“Eh, are you sure?”

“I don’t use gauntlets. If Olga says it’s okay, then you should use it.”

“I don’t mind either. I have comrades who use gauntlets, but we’re the ones who defeated that monster. So, naturally, the priority should be with the three of us. I don’t use gauntlets either, so it’s better if you use it, Fiera.”

“Thank you! I’ll take good care of it!”

Saying that, Fiera hugged the new gauntlet tightly and joyfully wagged her tail.

Honestly, given Fiera’s current abilities, the Ice Serpent Gauntlet was rather lacking, so it was a stroke of luck that she got new equipment.

“Still, I wonder why such a rare weapon dropped from such a low-level floor.”

“I have a hunch about that.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. I think the Beruk Turtle wasn’t meant to be defeated.”

“Huh? After all that trouble?”

“When I dealt the finishing blow to the Beruk Turtle, I spotted something like a gate near the volcanic crater it was carrying on its back. I think the quest was originally to ride it and then climb the mountain to pass through that gate.”

“Ugh, that sounds super annoying. But if that’s the case, I guess it makes sense why it was so tough, as well as the reason for this item dropping. In other words, we ended up defeating a target that wasn’t supposed to be killed, and as a reward, we got this rare item.”

“Exactly.”

As I explained to Olga, there are rare occasions when the rarity of items drops in a dungeon increases the first time you clear it or defeat a powerful monster.

In fact, I’ve heard rumors that such items are stored in the castle’s treasury as national treasures. Additionally, the party that first fully cleared the icy dungeon in the Valentine Duchy reportedly obtained a rare magic book of ice spells, gaining powers that set them apart from other ice magicians.

Well, that would be my father and the current Emperor.

“Anyway, we defeated it, so let’s take it as a win. One person got seriously hurt, but aside from that, it was fine.”

“Hey, that’s talking about me, isn’t it?”

“Who else would it be? Fiera’s fine as you can see, and I’m unharmed. But you? You had a broken arm and rib, and your forehead was a bit cracked too.”

“Tch. Do I get mocked for fighting so hard?”

“I recognize your strength, but that was clearly your carelessness. You were pleased when your attacks landed on that tough guy, weren’t you? With your skills, you should’ve been able to dodge, but you got hit because you let your guard down.”

When Olga got hit by the Beruk Turtle’s attack, there was a slight delay in her movements, and she could’ve dodged, but that slow reaction is what caused the hit.

“Haah. You’re observant.”

“Well, I’ve been asked by Rai to keep an eye on you. So, what do we do now? Should we head back as planned?”

“Yeah, I was thinking about heading back now. You okay with that?”

“I’m fine. That was the plan from the start, and I don’t feel the urge to rush the exploration.”

“Hmm. That’s rare. Was it not to your liking?”

“It’s not like that, but I do feel it was a bit different from what I imagined. The monsters are certainly strong, but since they can’t use racial magic, it feels a bit lacking. Sure, if I had to go head-to-head while sealing magic, that might be fun, but right now, I’m okay with it as is.”

“Ah, I see. I can somewhat relate to that feeling.”

“Yeah. Too easy.”

This dungeon, while interesting with the monsters becoming stronger than expected, still has limitations on attack methods since they cannot use their racial magic. If I go ahead and use magic, it becomes relatively easy to take them down.

While it’s a very good dungeon for honing techniques without using magic, it does feel a bit lacking for those like me who can use powerful spells or for Fiera and Olga who have mastered martial arts.

“Well then, we’ve managed to explore to the third level as intended, so let’s head back.”

“Right. Shuvina and the others are probably waiting, so let’s hurry.”

“Yeah. I’ll brag about this gauntlet to everyone when we get back.”

Fiera seemed thrilled with her new weapon, and even though she should’ve been tired, her steps back were lighter than when she came.

After that, using my memory, we quickly made our way out of the dungeon, and upon reuniting with the rested Shuvina and the others, we reported on the third level while taking a break, bringing our exploration of the new dungeon to an end.

By the way, Fiera was bragging about her new gauntlet to Shuvina and the others as she had declared, but she was scolded by her guardian Shuvina for being overly persistent and was playfully poked with the bow she had.

“Well then. Let’s head back.”

“Right. We finished a bit early, but it’ll take a few days to return, so no harm in heading back faster.”

After spending one night in the dungeon and then another one resting in tents outside, we decided to return to the Imperial Capital a little earlier than planned, having completed the dungeon exploration in two days instead of three.

“I heard the guild’s carriage is waiting in a nearby village, so I sent Rai to call for it. It should arrive in about thirty minutes.”

“So, we just need to pack up and wait for the carriage?”

“Yeah, but my comrades have already started packing up the bigger stuff, so you all take care of your own belongings.”

“Got it. We’ll finish up quickly.”

“Sure.”

After discussing it with Olga, I approached Fiera, who looked sleepy from yesterday’s fatigue, Shuvina who was nearby keeping an eye on her, Sonia who was playing with Dōna, and finally Miria who was tidying up skillfully with Iris helping her.

“Miria, how’s the packing going?”

“We’re almost done. We didn’t bring much with us, and Iris helped out, so we just need to pack away the borrowed tent.”

“Okay. I just talked with Olga, and the carriage will be here soon. We’re taking it back to the Imperial Capital today. Unlike going, we might not have enough room for luggage on the way back due to the magic stones, so let me know if anything doesn’t fit. I’ll store it in my storage.”

“Understood. I’ll separate anything that doesn’t fit, and we’ll let you know later.”

“Thanks. And Iris, I appreciate your help.”

“No problem! I actually don’t mind doing this kind of thing once in a while. I see it as a good experience, so I’m enjoying it.”

“Is that so? Well then, since Miria’s familiar with this stuff, help her out.”

“Got it!”

Iris, who was usually in a position to delegate tasks, seemed to be enjoying actually doing the work herself this time, actively tidying up while learning from Miria.

“Sonia.”

“Oh, Eir! Are you done talking?”

“Eir—!!”

Leaving Miria and the others, I went to Sonia and Dōna who were playing, and Dōna hugged me when she noticed me.

“Yeah, I’m done. I told Miria and the others that we’ll be heading back soon, so make sure you pack your things so you don’t forget anything.”

“Got it! Dōna, we’re going to tidy up now. Will you help me?”

“Sure!”

“Thanks!”

It seemed that Dōna and Sonia had become quite close without me noticing, as they started happily packing things together.

“Shuvina, did Fiera stay up late?”

“Good morning, Eir. Fiera seems to really love her new weapon and was staring at it until late at night. She’s probably hit her limit since she stayed up late even though she must be tired.”

Currently, Fiera seemed to have maxed out on sleepiness and was resting her head in Shuvina’s lap, peacefully breathing in her sleep.

Still, seeing her not wanting to let go of her weapon makes it easy to imagine what Shuvina said about last night.

“I see. Well, Fiera did her best transforming into a beast for the first time in a while yesterday. Let her rest up.”

“Right. But what about the packing?”

“Miria said she’ll finish up soon, so I’ll have her take care of it afterward. Shuvina, you just need to tell her where to put what.”

“Thanks, I’ll do that.”

Shuvina said that while gently patting Fiera’s head as she slept, and they looked just like real sisters, despite being different races.

A few tens of minutes later…

As expected, the carriage arrived on schedule. We worked together to load our things into it and finally brought the sleepy Fiera and the others along as we boarded the carriage, heading towards the Imperial Capital.

And one month after returning to the Imperial Capital…

The day we had been waiting for finally arrived, along with that person by my side.

Thus ends the chapter of Wailing Back to the Past! … But not really, haha.

In fact, you could say this is just the beginning of the current arc.

Up until now, it’s been progressing rather lightly, but the next part is planned to be a bit heavier. Well, it’s heavy by my standards, so it may not be that heavy, but in that case, I ask for your forgiveness, haha.

Also, there’s a significant development waiting at the end of this arc, and the story is finally drawing closer to its conclusion.

I’ll do my best to keep it enjoyable until the end, so I’d be happy if you stick with me!

Now, please continue to enjoy the Wailing Back to the Past arc!
