Chapter 364
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Chapter 347: A New Family
◇◇◇
I was abandoned by my parents on my fifth birthday.
On that day, since it was my birthday, my father and mother unusually suggested going out, and for the first time, I was able to step outside the house.
The outside world I saw for the first time wasn’t exactly glamorous; it was a dull town with some shabby buildings.
The people walking by looked somewhat lifeless, but still, seeing the outside world for the first time was exciting, and I smiled at my father and mother walking beside me.
“This is fun!”
“Yeah.”
“Uh-huh.”
Their reactions weren’t very enthusiastic, but I was just happy to be out with my family, and without a doubt, I followed them deeper into the town.
Before I knew it, I was surrounded by nothing but deserted buildings. I was led even further in and soon found myself in front of a building that looked like it could collapse at any moment, and my hands were unlinked from my parents’.
“Your father and I have to stop by a friend’s house nearby, so could you wait here for a bit?”
“You’re a good kid, so you’ll do as you’re told, right?”
“Okay!”
I laughed back at my parents’ words, and as soon as they saw that, they turned around and disappeared somewhere.
“Are Mom and Dad not back yet?”
I don’t know how much time passed, but before I realized it, the sun had set, and it got colder than during the day, making me shiver.
Still, I continued to wait as they told me to, and before I knew it, I had fallen asleep right there, only to wake up with the sun risen and morning upon me.
“Ah. I’ve been abandoned…”
It didn’t take me long to understand that.
Well, having waited so naively for an entire day, perhaps that was the longer part. Still, when I understood that my parents had abandoned me, accepting it didn’t take much time.
Because when I think back, my parents had never called me by name even once, and they’d never allowed me to go outside, which I think was because they wanted to make sure I wouldn’t remember the way back when they decided to abandon me.
I don’t know when they had decided to abandon me, but that didn’t matter; just the fact that I was abandoned was what was important.
“Sigh. What should I do now?”
Having been locked up in the house all this time, I had no knowledge, no special skills, and had no idea how to survive, so I didn’t know what to do at all.
After a few hours of staring blankly at the sky, I noticed that the sun had moved to the center of the sky, and my stomach let out a small growl.
“I’m hungry.”
“Hey, what’s wrong with you?”
“Hmm? Who are you, mister?”
As I pondered what I should do next while sitting on a pile of wood with my legs swinging, a boy who looked slightly older than me spoke to me.
“My name’s Kamael. Why are you here all alone?”
“I was abandoned by my parents yesterday.”
“Ah, I see. So you’re in the same boat as us.”
“Us?”
“Yeah. I’m also an orphan abandoned by my parents. I live with others like us; would you like to join us? There’s a place nearby where we stay.”
“Me?”
“If you’d like to, of course. But it looks like you haven’t decided what to do next, so maybe it’s a good idea to come along and figure it out together.”
Kamael’s words made sense, and even for an ignorant me, I felt intuitively that it would be better to follow his words, so I nodded at him, who was waiting for my response with a smile.
“Okay, I’ll go with you!”
“Leave it to me. Let’s go meet everyone!”
Kamael said this and extended his hand out, and as I took his hand, I felt like I was being invited to hold hands. He smiled with satisfaction and started leading me to his home.
“Kamael! Did you pick up another kid?!”
“Haha, sorry, Kushana.”
“Seriously! We’re already struggling to get by, and if we take in more, it’ll be even tougher!”
“Now, now, Kushana, calm down. It’s not like this is anything new for Kamael to bring someone home. Also, we were all picked up by him, so we can’t really complain, can we?”
“That’s right, Kushana. Just like sis said, we can’t complain because we owe our lives to Kamael for taking us in.”
“Shut up, Flora and Roland! It’s fine if our food decreases, but we have Salieu here now!”
“Sis Kushana, I’ll be okay.”
“No way! Salieu’s still a kid; he needs to eat a lot!”
“Just because you call him a kid, we’re all kids too, right? You and I and sis are all nearly the same age!”
“That’s not the point!!”
Just as the girl called Kushana and the boy named Roland started arguing, I raised my hand and for the first time spoke since arriving here.
“Then, should I just leave? If that’s the problem, it should be fine, right?”
“You can’t do that! Otherwise, you might die out there!!”
“Eh—”
I thought if my presence was the problem, leaving would solve everything, yet I got scolded by Kushana for even suggesting it.
“Hehe. Kushana may have a sharp tongue, but she’s a kind kid. So even if she’s saying that, there’s no way she wants to kick you out now that you’re here.”
“Hey, Flora! Calling me sharp-tongued is rude!! Plus, don’t say unnecessary things!!!”
“Haha. Everyone’s lively and having fun, huh?”
Kamael said that with a smile, but from the looks of it, he seemed to be the oldest among them, so should he be the one bringing everyone together?
“For now, we can’t just send you back since we’ve already brought you here; from now on, you’re part of our family!”
“Right! We’re all in similar situations, and since we’re powerless kids, we have to help each other out!”
“I’m okay with anything as long as sis is fine with it.”
“I-I’m okay with it if everyone is!”
“That’s good to hear. There’s also a boy named Ryug, but he’s out for work, so you’ll meet him later when he gets back.”
“Got it.”
Apparently, there was another member in the group, but it seemed he was working somewhere else, so my introduction to him would have to wait.
“By the way, what’s your name?”
“My name, huh…”
“W-what? What’s wrong?”
“I don’t know my name.”
“Seriously…”
“What’s wrong?”
When I said I didn’t know my name, for some reason, everyone looked at me with pity, even Kushana, who had been lively a moment ago, now looked at me with sympathy.
“I see. Then, I’ll think of a name for you. Let’s see… hmmm…”
In that situation, Kamael smiled and started seriously thinking of my name while crossing his arms.
“How about Lavienne?”
“Lavienne… ”
“Doesn’t it sound nice? I think it really suits you.”
“I think so too. It’s a really beautiful name for something Kamael thought of.”
“I think it’s all good as long as the person likes it.”
“Yeah. It really suits you.”
“Oh! It seems like this is pretty highly rated, even for me! How about it? Do you like it?”
“Yeah! Lavienne is super cute! I really like it!”
“Glad to hear that.”
And so, I received the name Lavienne from Kamael, finally giving me a new family.
Later, I got to see similar exchanges with a boy named Ryug, who returned in the evening, but he too accepted me.
That was the first encounter between me and my new family, Kamael and the others.
